Configurable Conversion

The base Ideology Moral Guide Convert and Reassure Abilities were always super underpowered, where the certainty gain usually outpaced the cooldown making them entirely useless. Now no more! You can set these values, along with the changes for each conversion ritual outcome to whatever you like!

Moral Guide Changes

The Convert ability conversion power is a multiplier on top of the base value and the characters conversion ability (based on social). The vanilla default 2 is 200%. Mod default is 400%. You can set this to anything between 1 - 20 (2000% seemed like it would likely instantly convert in most cases).

The Reassure and ritual outcome values are decimals in a -1 to 1 range. In game this is always shown as a percentage of certainty, so you may see "67% -> 44%" which represents a change from 0.67 to 0.44. Showing these as a percentage in the settings menu seemed wrong, as that implies it's a percentage when it really isn't.

Conversion Ritual Changes
This mod changes, by default, the conversion ritual outcomes to

Terrible: +0.12 (Vanilla +0.2)
Ineffective: 0 (Vanilla +0.12)
Effective: -0.5 (Vanilla -0.3)
Masterful: -1 (unchanged).

In the context of the ritual, a negative value pushes them towards the ritual target (likely your) ideology, and a positive pushes them towards their existing ideoligion.

This means ineffective rituals no longer set you back both in time AND certainty, as the target is just unconvinced instead of strengthened in their existing beliefs.

As a note, I don't believe effective rituals are capable of actually changing the ideologion of a pawn, you can see this in the base game when even with an effective ritual changing it 0% it will have 0.01 left. You'll have to hit them with the convert power, or let your pawns talk to them for a bit.

By default masterful conversion outcomes always completely convert the target.




Mod Compatibility

I changed to only patch the values needed instead of replacing the entire defs, which might improve compatibility compared to the original mod. Generally any mod that patches the Conversion ritual certainty offset, reassure base certainty gain, or convert power factor are likely to be incompatible. My guess is whichever is loaded last will apply.




This mod is originally based on "Easy Conversions" by Slashandz which I kept a personal modified copy as I always felt it's defaults were a bit too high.

I also wanted to increase the power of the ritual, and personally felt similar mods like the conversion staff mod added extra items I didn't want to deal with, as then the moral guide has to constantly switch their weapons. Additionally instead of entirely replacing the abilities, I targeted only the values to change, so really none of the original XML is the same anymore, but it felt correct to credit them anyway!
