Tests of all upscalers and my method[imgsli.com]
DLSS
Nvidia App.
Starting with driver 581.08 and the latest version of the Nvidia App, Nvidia has added global DLSS override[www.nvidia.com].
  • Go to the Nvidia app -> Graphics -> Global settings -> DLSS Override - Model Preset

  • In the window that appears, select Latest
To check DLSS Override, Nvidia has added a DLSS preset to its monitoring overlay.

SR OVR must be Preset K

Without Nvidia APP
Download and extract to the folder NvidiaProfileInspectorRevamped[github.com] (may require NET, go to the website and install)
Run NVPI-R.exe, find the DLSS Overrides category, and set the following settings
  • SR: Latest DLL - On
  • SR: Preset - Latest Preset (v310+)
  • RR: Latest DLL - On
  • RR: Preset - N/A
  • FG: Latest DLL - On

To check the DLSS version, open the 2.Enable DLSS UI.reg file in the NVPI-Revamped folder

Now go into the game and set DLSS to the desired quality (I do not recommend going below DLAA in 1080p).
Check the DLSS version and preset (K is the latest at the moment).

To turn off the indicator, use Disable DLSS UI.reg
Sharpness Filter
The built-in NVsharpness has bad implementation. Even at 0.1, aliasing and strange oversharp artifacts appear.
So we set it to 0 in the game.

We will adjust the sharpness using the same NVPI-Revamped[github.com]..
Look for the game profile in the top line.

In 0.1.1 - Graphic Options set
  • NIS-Allow - ON
  • NIS-Enable - ON
  • NIS-Value - 10-20% depending on monitor resolution and your preferences
  • Launch the game and check (after each change).

This combination provides the best possible AA. Tests[imgsli.com]

Why should you not use NIS2.0(upscaler) sharp or revert to the old sharpening method via integer scaling?
Enabling them completely disables MPO[wiki.special-k.info] which negatively affects the performance of third-party overlays, game lag, and windowed VRR. So disable them if they are enabled.

A little about DLDSR
It is a must-have for 1080 monitors but you need to select the DSR Smoothness parameter for each game and one of the drawbacks is that it disables MPO in this resolution.
Input lag
This is a very broad topic but in short. 100% GPU load is bad! The game adds up to x2 latency when relying on the GPU.
There is also a difference in how the game is displayed on the screen and why disabling MPO can have a negative impact on performance. If you're interested you can read Presentation Model [wiki.special-k.info] and SwapChain[wiki.special-k.info]

Do not use third-party overlays, especially Discord, which breaks MPO and VRR

I recommend use latest offical build Windows 11 24H2 without "heavy tweaks"

100% GPU. Without Reflex/in-game FPS limit. We get a whopping 21 ms of latency at 130 FPS which is not normal

With Reflex/FPS limit. We get a normal latency for this FPS

Correct FPS limitation
Important: to limit FPS do not use external tools i.e. Nvidia driver limiter, RTSS... or ultra-low latency mode in the Nvidia control panel!!!!
Now let's look at 3 options depending on your monitor
Monitor with VRR support (G-sync, Freesync, Adaptive-sync)
The best option
If your monitor has a Display Port and is connected to it, then in 99% of cases it supports VRR. VRR technology has also become available in HDMI since version 2.1.
  • 1. Go to the monitor OSD settings and enable adaptive-sync, g-sync, freesync (the name may depend on the monitor)
  • 2. Go to the Nvidia Control Panel, enable G-sync in only full-screen and check the box “Apply settings to this display.” Click Apply.

  • 3. Go to the game and enable V-sync and Reflex+boost in the graphics settings.

This way with VRR+V-Sync enabled, we get the best smoothness, and Reflex completely eliminates the delay from V-Sync.

IF WE EXPERIENCE A SIGNIFICANT LATENCY
Game have poorly implemented Reflex does not guarantee 100% correct operation on all systems.
    1. Enable the G-sync indicator in the top Display tab of the Nvidia control panel and make sure that VRR (G-sync) is working.
    2. Test Reflex without boost.
    3. Check if MPO is working via SpecialK[www.special-k.info] in the settings tab.
    4. Try disable in game V-SYNC and enabling V-sync via the Nvidia Control Panel in the Hunt:Showdown profile and Reflex via the attributes.xml file (see the Reflex section below).
    5. If nothing helps, use the method for monitors without VRR below.

*VA and OLED displays may start to flicker in brightness when entering/exiting the monitor's VRR range.
*You can also use this method in other games. But don't enable v-sync if you have an FPS of x2+ Refresh rate (Cs2, Valorant, etc.).

    Monitor without VRR
If your monitor does not have VRR or you do not want to enable it you can get around this by enabling Reflex via the config or using the in-game FPS limit.
This method does not use V-sync

    Reflex
Since the developer of Hunt is a genius and only allows Reflex to be switched on with V-Sync, it must be enabled manually via the attributes.xml file.
    • 1 Go to \steamapps\common\Hunt Showdown 1896\USER\Profiles\default\ open attributes.xml in a text editor and add <Attr name="NVidiaReflex" value="2"/>

    • 2. Go to the game and test it.

    In-game FPS limit
If for some reason Reflex is not working properly the standard limit in the game settings can help.
You need to limit the FPS with a margin from the average FPS. For example if you have an average of 140 FPS you need to limit the FPS to 100–120.
If you are not satisfied with the suggested FPS limit range you can set it manually using the same attributes.xml file
    <Attr name="MaxFPS" value="xx"/

Graphics settings
These are purely subjective recommendations; personally, I prefer graphics over fps.
The information is taken from Dmitryagi's (I2HARD) video + personal tests.

Low-end GPU
  • Anti-aliasing: DLSS + sharpness or SMAA 2TX + sharpness
  • Object Quality: Low/Medium
  • Texture Quality: Medium
  • Texture Filtering: X8 Anisotropic
  • Lighting Quality: Medium / High if vegetation flickers
  • Global Illumination: Medium
  • Water Quality: Medium
  • View Distant Ratio: High
  • GPU tessellation: On if it does not affect FPS
  • Everything else: Low

Mid-range GPU
  • Anti-aliasing: DLSS + sharpness
  • Object Quality: Medium/High
  • Texture Quality: Medium-Very high depending on VRAM
  • Texture Filtering: X8 Anisotropic
  • Lighting Quality: High
  • Global Illumination: Medium
  • Shadow Filtering: Medium
  • Water Quality: Medium
  • View Distant Ratio: High
  • GPU tessellation: On
  • Everything else: Low

High-end GPU:
Ultra settings are useless.
  • Anti-aliasing: DLSS + sharpness
  • Object Quality: Very High
  • Texture Quality: Ultra
  • Texture Filtering: X16 Anisotropic
  • Lighting Quality: High
  • Global Illumination: Medium
  • Shadow Quality: Medium
  • Shadow Filtering: Medium
  • Water Quality: High
  • View Distant Ratio: High
  • View Distant Lights: High
  • View Distant Vegetation: High
  • GPU tessellation: On
  • Everything else: Low
Or if u prefer graphics set everything to Very High, Texture Ultra, Fog Medium, and enjoy.

GPU bound for sure. I can overclock it to have even more FPS, but I'm afraid of overheat. Completely the opposite, I'm undervolting my GPU to have smoother frametime and lower temps.

in most cases u have gpu or cpu bound ?

RTX 3080, R7 5700x. Low-mid settings with balanced DLSS on 3440x1440.

That was advice for other games.
Regarding Rebar, what kind of system do you have? I didn't notice any significant FPS increase when I forced it ON via NVPI.

Not sure about FG and RR, but DLSS 4 is nessesary since 1896 update. I also recommend everyone to enable ReBar. I have a solid boost from ~105 to 120 FPS.

Everything is fine with this for me and my friends, but I specified the NVCP option in case something goes wrong.
I always use the in-game settings first (because it should work fine out of the box, it's not my problem if the developer is incompetent), but if something goes wrong, only then do I enable V-sync, etc. in NVCP.

Vsync in game + Gsync seems like an awfull thing. Vsync only good at nvidia panel mate.

Awesome guide. Really helpful. Tried with AMD, with enabled fps-limit and using FSR native AA my input ms decreased. So game now feeling smoother :Smile_IdleOn:
