By default, Celeste runs at a locked 60 FPS. This can limit performance on high-end PCs or monitors with high refresh rates. Fortunately, there's a tool called CelesteUncapped that allows you to remove this FPS limit without affecting your saved data.

📁 1. How to find where Celeste is installed

If you bought the game on Steam, follow these steps to quickly open the game’s folder:

1. Open Steam;
   
2. Go to your Library and right-click on Celeste;
   
3. Click Properties;
   
4. Go to the Local Files tab;
   
5. Click the “Browse” button (or “Explore”);
   
6. The game folder will open automatically. Keep it open — we’ll need it soon!

📝 2. How to enable file extension visibility (.exe)

To correctly view files like `Celeste.exe` or `Celeste.exe.old`, it’s important to enable file extension visibility on your computer. Here’s how:

1. Open any folder on your computer;
   
2. In the top menu, click “View”;
   
3. Then go to “Show” (or "Options", depending on your version);
   
4. Check the box for “File name extensions”;
   
5. Done! Now you’ll see full file names like `Celeste.exe`, `Celeste.exe.old`, etc.

To use CelesteUncapped, follow these simple steps:

1. Download the .zip file from the official GitHub[github.com]
   
   
   
2. Choose an easy-to-find location to extract the files.
   
   
3. Extract the contents of the .zip file to the chosen folder.

1. Open the Command Prompt (type “cmd” in the Start menu and press Enter);
   
   
2. If the folder where you extracted CelesteUncapped is on another drive (for example, D: or E:), switch to that drive by typing its letter followed by a colon and pressing Enter. Example:
   
   
3. Use the cd command to navigate to the folder where you extracted CelesteUncapped. Example:
   
   Tip: To copy the folder path from File Explorer:
   
   • Open the folder where you extracted the files;
     
   • Click the address bar in Explorer (where the folder path appears);
     
   • Press Ctrl + C to copy the path;
     
   • In the Command Prompt, type cd (with a space) and paste the path with Ctrl + V;
     
   • Press Enter to go to that folder automatically.
     
   
   
4. Now let's run the command that activates CelesteUncapped:
   
   • Go back to the folder where your game is installed (the one you opened in Steam earlier);
     
   • Locate the file Celeste.exe;
     
   • Right-click on Celeste.exe and select “Copy as path”;
     If you’re using Windows 10 and don’t see the “Copy as path” option, hold Shift while right-clicking the file.
     
   • Return to the Command Prompt (CMD);
     
   • Now type the following command:
     "CelesteUncapped.exe paste_the_path_you_copied_here"
     
   • Press Enter to execute.
5. If everything goes well, a success message will appear in the command prompt indicating the process was completed successfully.

• A new Celeste.exe file with unlocked FPS will be created;
  
  
• The original will be renamed to Celeste.exe.old;
  
• When you open the game, it will run with unlocked FPS.

⚠️ Important: Make sure V-Sync is disabled in the game settings or your video driver, as it can limit FPS even with CelesteUncapped active.

2. Delete the new “Celeste.exe” with unlocked FPS;
   
   
3. Rename the file “Celeste.exe.old” back to “Celeste.exe”.
