Level Up Manager

Description
New with 1.3:
  • Updated for Shadow of Kerensky.

About

Level Up Manager enables the player to control when to proceed to the next MRB reputation level rather than being forcibly advanced after accruing the requisite amounts of XP. This allows the player to stay at lower MRB reputation levels for longer periods of time. A Level Up button is provided in the Stats tab of the Operations screen to advance.

Usage

When this mod is enabled, Reputation XP normally gained from completing missions, quests, and cantina jobs will be suppressed. This prevents the game from automatically advancing to higher MRB levels thus allowing the player to stay at desired lower reputation levels for longer periods of game time. Within the Stats tab of the Operations screen is a Level Up button, which will advance the game to the next MRB when the player is ready.

Conflicts

This mod alters cantina rewards and will conflict with other mods that do the same. In such cases the other mod should override this mod. This mod will continue to work as intended, but there may be rare cases where a high XP reward cantina job may unintentionally advance the player when the player is at a low MRB reputation level.

While not a direct conflict it is also possible other mods may reward XP outside of the usual vanilla events, which may cause the game to unintentionally advance to the next level.

Other Considerations

If currently using a mod that alters the reputation progression tables (such as MW5_Long_War, SlowLevelx3, etc.), that mod should be left in place and can work in conjunction with Level Up Manager. If the other mod is removed the player's reputation level may increase (possibly significantly) since the game bases the rank on accrued XP.

For fresh campaign runs, the first few tutorial missions have some forced XP gain to them so some leveling may occur regardless of the mod. However, it may not be enough to trigger the zones/hubs/missions to generate on the map once that becomes available. In this case try leveling up to three or four and then travel several jumps away and back to get them to generate. Alternatively, simply wait until these missions are completed before enabling the mod.

I'm sure it's possible, but not something I would look to add.

I like the idea of this taking 1 step furhter, when you click to lvl up, you get given a very difficult for your level mission you have to complete first.
Is that possible?

You probably feel it's unnatural for a reputation to skyrocket after just a few battles, right?
Honestly, a struggling, barely scraping by squad makes for much better roleplay.
As a TRPG player,
I totally get that feeling.

I'm not seeing that. You may have something else going on.

It should work with mods that change the XP progression to slow down leveling up. In fact if you are already using one it would be better to leave it installed or you may find your level was increased unintentionally. This is because the game bases reputation level on accrued XP.

There wouldn't be a need for one of those mods in conjunction with this otherwise.

It is possible to run your mod in conjunction with a mod that slows it down?

Essentially making your mod a stop-gap for going to the next level

Awesome! I like this, because when I leveled up it became harder to collect certain mechs at lower levels (Ultra Lights)
