Speed Reader - Half-Time

This mod reduces the time required to gain experience from reading a book by 50%.

Whether training your villagers in combat, crafting, farming, or research, they will now read books twice as fast, allowing them to reach their potential more efficiently and freeing up valuable time for other tasks.

Vanilla XP Curve:
In the vanilla game, book reading time scales linearly based on XP granted. It starts with 500 XP taking 30 minutes to read. This increases to 1500 XP taking 45 minutes, 3000 XP taking 75 minutes, and 9000 XP taking 120 minutes. There is no specific node defined for 6000 XP books; these default to the halfway point between 3000 and 9000 XP, taking approximately 100 minutes.

Any XP value beyond 9000 will use the 9000 XP metric, meaning even higher XP books take the same time as a 9000 XP book.


Half-Time Version: With this mod active, reading times are halved across all XP values.
- 500 XP books take 15 minutes
- 1500 XP books take 22.5 minutes
- 3000 XP books take 37.5 minutes
- 6000 XP books take 50 minutes
- 9000+ XP books take 60 minutes


Knowledge Overflow Compatibility:
The Knowledge Overflow mod will be adding new books granting XP values beyond the vanilla maximum of 9000. These new books will still follow the same time scaling system, capped at the 9000 XP reading time metric (or adjusted times based on your active Speed Reader variant). For example, with Speed Reader - Half-Time active, even a 50,000 XP book will take only 60 minutes, matching the halved 9000 XP duration.
