🎣 Getting Started with Fishing
Fishing in Tiny Aquarium is pretty straightforward, but some useful info isn’t explained in-game. To get started, host or join a fishing lobby, click the water, and wait for the “Reel!” prompt.
  • When it appears, the fishing mini-game begins:
  • Hold Left Click to move the catch bar right.
  • Release to let it slide left.
  • Keep the fish icon inside the catch bar until the progress bar fills up.
  • Congrats — you’ve caught a fish… or some junk!
🌀 What Are Fish Pools?
As you fish, you’ll notice small fish swimming in a circle — these are Fish Pools.

  • Fish Pools come in different rarities indicated by their color.
White = Common, Green = Uncommon, Blue = Rare, Purple = Epic, and Orange = Exotic.
  • Higher rarity pools = better odds at catching valuable or rare fish.
  • If the fish pool bounces when you cast on it, you’re in the pool — that’s how you know it worked.
  • No bounce = not in the pool. Reel in and recast.
🧲 Bait and How to Use It
As you level up, you’ll unlock different bait types:
  • 🌽 Corn Bait
  • 🪰 Fly Bait
  • 🪱 Worm Bait
  • 🐟 Minnow Bait (best)
Each bait increases your chances of better catches — but you can only buy 20 of each per day, so use them wisely!

Suggested strategy for bait use:
  • Corn → Common/Uncommon pools
  • Fly → Rare pools
  • Worm → Epic pools
  • Minnow → Exotic pools (best combo in the game!)

You can technically use any bait on any pool, but this method helps you get the most value out of your limited daily supply. Or if you really want you can cast out in the open water with any bait. I find that casting Minnow bait in the open typically returns Epic fish.
🤝 Solo vs Online Fishing
Some believe Fish Pools spawn more often in multiplayer lobbies, but in testing, there's no confirmed difference. Still, it’s called Social Fish Keeping for a reason — jump into a server, chat, trade, and react to others’ tanks. It's more fun that way!
  • Spark up a conversation, you are sure to make some friends!
  • You'll likely learn a lot from others who have played longer.
  • It’s a fun way to connect, make friends, and check out awesome aquariums.
  • You may even find some people selling some cool fish!
⏳ While You Wait…
Waiting for high-rarity pools to spawn? No problem.
  • Fish without bait in open water to catch junk, then sell for XP and Coins.
  • It’s not huge money, but it adds up while you wait.
  • If no epic or exotic pools spawn after 30 minutes, it’s smart to reset the lobby.
🐟 Tank Management Tips
If you're a high enough level:
  • Clear out as many tanks as possible before fishing.
  • Keep only the tanks you want full.
  • All new fish from fishing go into empty tanks first.
  • When they grow up, use the Fish Menu to lock the ones you want to keep, and mass-sell the rest.
  • Great for making quick money and keeping your collection tidy.
