🗺️A Beginner’s Guide To Hole
⚠️ Warning: This guide contains mild spoilers. ⚠️
👋Introduction
If you're like me, you've probably been having a blast running around in the game — shooting bad guys, and grabbing loot — but not entirely sure of what you're actually supposed to be doing to make progress.

The goal of this guide is to explain how the game works so you can progress through Hole quickly and efficiently.
📍Start Here
Your first goal is to earn enough cash and data so you can afford to build some stairs in your base.

Once they’re built, they will lead you to a second-story room that gives you access to:

1. Missions.

2. Weapons.

3. Drinks.

There are several other things that you can build in your base, and you'll learn about them as you progress throughout the game, but this is by far the most important one because it gives you access to the rest of the game's content.
📜Missions
Each map has its own set of missions, and completing them allows you to claim rewards like:

1. Cash or Data.
2. Keys.
3. New Drinks.
4. More Maps.

"How do I complete them?"

Completing Missions:

Before you can complete missions, you'll need to have access to them. Visit the nurse. She can be found on the second story of your base.

Interacting with her will give you access to three missions.

Pro-Tip: Try to always accept all three missions at once. This will allow you to make progress on each of them during your next run (if they're on the same map), which will reduce the amount of time you have to spend grinding.

Typically, missions will have you collect x amount of y items that either:

A) Spawn around the map.
B) Come from the monsters themselves.

Occasionally, you will have to fight waves of special boss enemies to complete a mission.

Completing these can be challenging, but don’t sweat it if you die; because You DO NOT have to extract with the stuff you've collected in order to retain your progress.
🔫Weapons
Here is a short list of weapons that are currently in the game:

1. Pistol.

2. Assault Rifle.

3. Shotgun.

4. Sniper.

"How do I get them?"

Unlocking Weapons:

Each map has a weapon that you can earn by extracting with its corresponding disk.

Disks can be found inside computers that are located behind locked doors.

These doors can be opened with a key that you obtain from completing missions with the "Key" reward.

Successfully extracting with this disk will allow you to insert it into the computer back at your base and get a new weapon.

Warning: EXERCISE CAUTION when attempting to extract with a disk, because attempting to do so will cause a "boss battle" to occur.

To learn more about weapon stats / builds, check out this really nice in-depth guide made by another person in the community.

📐Blueprints
Weapon blueprints can be acquired by killing Bagheads.

Getting a weapon blueprint will allow you to purchase its attachment by using the monitors; which can be found in front of the white board with the picture of a Baghead on it.

Use the arrows to cycle through each attachment type. Use the buttons on the monitors to purchase the attachment you want.

Attachments are purchased with data.

You MUST unlock the attachment by collecting its blueprint from a Baghead BEFORE it will be available to purchase on the monitors.

Once you purchase the attachment, you can use the weapon bench to put it onto your gun. Simply navigate to the desired attachment slot and select the attachment that you would like to add.

MYTH: You DO NOT need to kill the Baghead with the gun you want to get the attachment for in order for it to drop a blueprint. HOWEVER, if the gun you killed the Baghead with still has blueprints that need to be unlocked, those will be prioritized.

Pro-Tip: In the early-game, farming blueprints is best done on "The Office" map because its a flat map and you can just run around executing enemies quickly which allows you to maximize Baghead spawns.
🥤Drinks
Drinks are basically long-term perks that you can buy with cash.

They include:
1. Max HP - Gives you more health.
2. Regenerate HP - Your health will regenerate over time.
3. Reload Speed - You will reload faster.
4. Recoil Control - Recoil becomes easier to control.
5. Item Magnet - Items will be easier to collect.
6. Silent Walk - Silences your footsteps.

IMO, the best ones are Max HP, Regenerate HP, and Recoil Control.
☠️Enemies & Armor
There are several different enemy types in this game. Each one will make a distinct sound so you can tell who they are through the walls and ceiling.

As you progress throughout the rounds, enemies will become stronger, because they will start spawning in with armor and better weapons.

I have outlined a list of the different types of armor they can spawn in with below:

Armor:

Level 1 - None
Level 2 - Baseball Hat + Vest
Level 3 - Bucket Head + Full Body Armor

Level 1, 2, & 3 armor. (In order from left to right.)

And, here are all of the enemies in the game:

  • Red, Blue, and Yellow Faces -

    A Red Face.

    A Blue Face.

    A Yellow Face.

    Info:
Start out carrying pistols. Usually carry assault rifles or shotguns and have Level 1, 2, 3, armor in the later rounds.

    Spawns:
    Round 0 and above.

    Drops:
    • Regular - Cash.
    • Mission Related - Masks, Blood Bags, Dolls.

Pro-Tip: If any of these guys are wearing armor levels 1 or 2, they can be one-tapped on any round. If you can't hit head shots consistently, go for the legs and when they're downed close the distance!

  • Blueberries - (Also known as the purple guys with big heads.)

    A Blueberry.

    Info:
These guys only carry melee weapons: knives, axes, hammers, etc.
They can't wear armor, but they're super tanky so it doesn't really matter.

    Spawns:
    Round 3 and above.

    Drops:
    • Regular - Cash.
    • Mission Related - None.

Pro-Tip: Your melee (kicking) is especially effective on these guys. Kick them when they’re chasing you, then do some damage while they lie helplessly on the floor. (Don't forget, eventually they will get back up!)

  • Bagheads - (Also known as the ghost-looking guys.)

    A Baghead.

    Info:
Carry suppressed pistols. Don't wear armor, even on later levels.

    Spawns:
    Round 2 and above.

    Drops:
    • Regular - Data & Blueprints (Blueprints will stop dropping once you've collected them all.)
    • Mission Related - None.

Pro-Tip: These guys can be one-tapped on any round. Go for the head!

  • TV's

    A TV.

    Info:
These guys aren't harmful, but they can be annoying; because, if you are close to one, you will start seeing a bunch of images flashing on your screen. To fix this, simply locate the floating TV and shoot it down. You can one tap them with any gun on any round, but they will continue to spawn until you either die or extract.

    Spawns:
They spawn when you try to extract with the blue disk.

    Drops:
    • Regular - VHS Tapes.
    • Mission Related - VHS Tapes.

  • Eye Faces

    An Eyeface.

    Info:
Like Bagheads, these guys are vulnerable to head shots, making them fairly easy to kill as long as you don't let them group up and back you into a dead end.

    Spawns:
These guys spawn when you try to extract with the red disk.

    Drops:
    • Regular - Cash.
    • Mission Related - Masks.

Pro-Tip: When fighting these guys, I find it's best to have a solid extract route; since it will be very dark during the fight. There is a microwave spawn fairly close to the doors. Get that ready for extraction first, then go fight these guys. (Also, they are similar to ghosts in that they are very vulnerable to head shots.)

  • Demons

    A Demon.

    Info:
Carry the fire breath shotgun. Doesn't wear armor, but has a fair amount of HP.

    Spawns:
    Round 4 and above.

    Drops:
    • Regular - Cash.
    • Mission Related - None.

Pro-Tip: Because they carry a shotgun, it's best to fight these guys from range. I like to use the assault rifle, but the sniper works too.

  • Do Not Look At Them

A Do Not Look At Them.

    Info:
This is a special type of boss on the "Apartments" map. This enemy doesn't carry any weapons. Instead, they use a melee attack. Also, they will affect your vision, so it's best to avoid making eye contact and extract quickly if possible. It is possible to kill this enemy.

    Spawns:
These guys spawn when you try to extract with the blue disk.

    Drops:
    • Regular - Cash.
    • Mission Related - None.
👹Boss Battles
Each map features a different "boss battle" (waves of special enemies) that will only take place when you try to extract with a disk.

This makes extraction more challenging.

After you have successfully extracted with the disk, there isn't much reason to trigger these — other than the fact that they are a fun challenge that makes the game a little more interesting! :D
⚔️Tips:
Once again, I'd like to direct your attention to this really nice and in-depth guide made by another person in the community.

It's the one I used when I was first learning how to play the game, and it's got tips ranging from beginner to advanced that will help you improve quickly. My tips, however, are just some small things that I wish had been included in this person's guide.

General:
  • You don't have to re-chamber a bullet every time you reload. As long as you have a bullet chambered you can simply reload and then continue shooting.

Starting A New Run:
  • Before you go into a new run, its best to make sure each gun is reloaded, with a bullet chambered. The number of bullets in your magazine will carry over from your last run, so make sure you aren't walking around with an empty mag!

  • Upon spawning in, you may want to turn on your tactical flashlight for each weapon. Some maps can be quite dark, so be sure not to be caught off guard by enemies lurking in the shadows!

  • If you die, you will lose ninety-percent of the cash and data that you earned, as well as any disks you've collected. So, if you have a lot of valuables, extract ASAP!

Getting Cash Quick In The Early Game:

1. Play on "Drainage System".
2. Acquire the red disc (Be sure to open only one door when you enter the room with the disk).
3. Once the Eye Guys start spawning, they will begin filtering into the doorway you opened.

This will allow you to farm cash easily; since they are all entering through the only open door, head shots should be easier to hit as well — allowing you to kill these guys quickly and efficiently.

Note: This is best done, when the microwave spawns directly outside of the door by the disk room.
❓What Should I Focus On During The Early Game?
Runs:

During your runs, try to familiarize yourself with the map. After a few sessions, you should be able to figure out where a fridge, microwave, or box will spawn.

Once you have an idea of where these things spawn, collecting data will become much easier.

For cash, you can kill and loot the AI. Some enemies (like the big-headed dudes) will drop more cash than others, but I find that going in with the kill-on-sight mindset yields more cash than targeting specific enemies.

Extracting with all of your loot is usually your top priority in these games, but it can be quite difficult, so don't feel too bad if you do end up dying.

Base Building:

The next big unlock after the stairs will be the weapon station. It will unlock a new enemy type and blueprints, so go for that next!

Missions:

As stated above, missions unlock a lot of new content. They also give you loads of cash and data, which means completing them will help you progress through the game faster. Once you have completed every mission in the game, they will cycle back to the first set of missions, allowing you to do it all again!
❓How Do I Extract?
Somebody else in the community made an awesome guide that will show you how to find and extract each of the disks needed to unlock all of the weapons in the game.

The eye guys can open locked doors, just a heads up.
I found that out when a door I didn't unlock opened up with 3 of them.
