By Jade
This guide contains all achievements, with more detailed guides for the lessons and storyline achievements, including the trigger plot, route choice, and storyline descriptions.

Preface and Catalog
For most players, the information in that highly rated achievement guide is sufficient.
In my guide, the strategies for alters' lessons and the storyline are more detailed, mainly to help players who got stuck and were unable to successfully trigger or complete the alters' lessons achievements or storyline achievements.
Also, achievements are classified by me into different parts to help players to navigate. I wrote my guide myself and the focus is on alters' achievements (lesson + storyline) . Please make good use of the sidebar catalog.

I have put the information about the alters' lesson and storyline achievements into the character catalog. Additionally, I ①highlights choice direction of dialogue options (such as the other alter's sensitive topics), ②prerequisite route choices, and ③the plot that trigger corresponding dialogues, to help players smoothly complete dialogues and achieve the lessons and storyline achievements.

The guide is divided into 2 parts:
Process achievements: 35 achievements
12 in Act 1, 4 in Act 2, 9 in Act 3,
6 in the ending, 4 in multiple playthroughs

Alters' lessons and story achievements: 21 achievements
2 for Technician Jan, 2 for Scientist Jan,
2 for Botanist Jan, 2 for Tabula Rasa,
2 for Refiner Jan, 2 for Worker Jan,
2 for Miner Jan, 3 for Doctor Jan,

At the beginning of Act 3, talk to the company senior manager, and soon after, ex-wife will call. Collaborate with ex-wife to come up with a plan to save the alters.
Afterward, go to the rebel camp and talk to technician Jan to complete the supply pack manufacturing task he assigns. During the delivery conversation, technician Jan will ask the protagonist if they have come up with a way to avoid the company route. Here, the protagonist will respond with the freedom path provided by the ex-wife. When choosing the persuasion option to bring them back, select the scientist's pragmatic lesson option. If there is no lesson option, choosing the gentle persuasion option should also succeed in bringing them back.

Sacrifice Tabula Rosa: Rebels cannot be persuaded to return. If you take the Maxwell route, after giving the supply pack task, technician Jan will also give a resource collection task. After that, they will not agree to return during the conversation. The resources technician Jan wants here are for preparing for the magnetic storm. If the protagonist does not provide the resources before the second magnetic storm, the rebels will unfortunately die.

Alters Achievement: 21 (Important!)
---
This section covers alters' lesson achievements and storyline achievements, total 10+11 = 21 achievements. Doctor Jan has three achievement.
Most alters' lessons serve as preludes to trigger the corresponding storyline, so I have placed them in the respective character sections.
Please use the right-side guide directory to jump directly to the alter you wish to view.

Important Notes: (If you are STUCK)

1. If you fail to trigger the lesson quest, you will likely be unable to trigger the storyline quest. The alters' lessons and storylines are interconnected plotlines.
2. Lesson Trigger Conditions: The alters' lesson require certain conditions to be met before they can be triggered. These conditions include:
  • ①Good mood (the alters feels good)
  • ② The alter has worked for two or three days or more
  • ③ Dialogue options are chosen based on the alter's preferences. Some options may cause the lesson or storyline to be interrupted.
  • ④ The lessons and storylines of some characters are triggered after certain plot. Details are in the respective alter's part.
3. If you are unfamiliar with the avatar's treatment route preferences, it is best to complete the alter's lesson tasks before announcing the treatment choice .
Otherwise, you will need to wait until Act 3 to find the rebel camp and persuade the rebels to return before delivering the task. In that case, the time in Act 3 may be insufficient to trigger and complete the alter's storyline task.

4. The lessons learned from the alters unlock new options, which can help complete dialogues and even resolve certain alter's storyline endings.
For example, the charm option from Worker Jan can help achieve the perfect ending for Guard Jan, the pragmatism from Scientist Jan can persuade the rebels to return in Act 3, and the trust gained from Botanist Jan provides new options that significantly improve Scientist Jan's mood in the Botanist Jan storyline.

Alters' Treatment Path Preferences:

Company Implant: Botanist Jan, Refiner Jan, Doctor Jan
Sacrifice Tabula Rasa: Miner Jan, Worker Jan, Psychologist Jan
Follow the Protagonist: Scientist Jan, Guard Jan

After the psychological counseling ends, the storyline achievement is triggered.
Guard Jan 💸
Guard Jan's Lesson:
Shrewdness
Learn the Guard’s lesson - Shrewdness

In Act 2, to trigger his story line, ensure that you has ≥4 portions of mush, preferably 6 portions of mush.

First, pick up personal items while exploring the map in Act 1. In Act 2, create him and give him the items to lift his mood.
After a couple of days, trigger the kitchen mush theft event. Two portions of mush disappear each day. Press Alt in the bottom-left corner to view the theft log. Ensure the mush count remains ≥3 daily, and make more if needed.
After the mush theft event lasts for two or three days, the guard will approach the protagonist for a conversation. Follow his lead, agree with his ideas, and accept his surveillance plan (otherwise his lesson and storyline will be interrupted).

Manufacture the surveillance equipment in the workshop, then install it in the command room. After one day, the guard will begin surveillance operations, at which point you can no longer assign him tasks.
After one to three days of surveillance, the guard will speak with the protagonist again, mentioning the suspect. Speak with each suspect he mentioned. Eventually, you will reach the scientist Jan. After speaking with the scientist, confront the guard to unlock the lesson achievement.

Guard Jan's Storyline:
You gotta be smart
Complete the Guard’s storyline

His storyline is triggered at the end of Act 3 when preparing the plan to meet the rescue team, similar to the trigger point of the end of Scientist Jan's storyline.
If Scientist Jan's storyline is triggered at this point, if there is enough time, allow him to go out and explore, but in the next round of dialogue, do not allow him to leave. If there is not enough time, immediately reject his proposal to go out and explore.

A couple of days after preparing the plan to meet the rescue team, the event where the guard and other alter fight at the quantum computer will be triggered.
In my save file, the guard was fighting with Scientist Jan. At this point, go there promptly and have separate conversations with both of them.
I first spoke with the scientist Jan, then with the guard. During the conversation with the guard, I chose the option to use the worker's lesson charisma to persuade him to reflect on himself, start over, and abandon the idea. This unlocked the story achievement.

I suppose you can also agree with his plan, then talk to the scientist Jan to find out the password is useless, and finally tell him the password is useless during the conversation. This also unlocks the achievement, I guess.
My thought on some alters' story 🤔
All illustrations are from the alters' memory in the quantum computer.

Psychologist Jan: A Journey Through Destruction and Rebirth

Psychologist Jan is the most emotionally stable of all the alters.
This stability stems from his past experiences of self-destruction, his adherence to his own principles, and the subsequent death of his mother, which left him burdened with heavy emotional baggage. This burden grew over time, eventually crushing Psychologist Jan and causing his personal value system to collapse, leaving him trapped in a vortex of doubt and regret.
To resolve his issues, Psychologist Jan set off on a journey of self-exile to a foreign land. During this journey of self-exile in a foreign land, he luckily encountered a group of young people similar to himself. Together, they alleviated their inner struggles and rebuilt their lives. His path has similarity with characters from films like Manchester by the Sea.

After rebuilding himself, he returned to society and found a balance between his social role and his self. While studying his favorite courses, he also found ways to pay his tuition fees and explored art, attempting to sell artwork for money. Later, through his studies, he became an outstanding psychotherapist. He was both relieved that financial issues had brought him new clients and sympathetic toward his clients, as the person sitting across from him could have been himself, having lost his job.
Thanks to his past exploration of self, he knew how to find balance between work and life, between effort and relaxation. He would enjoy himself after work and paying attention to his physical needs.
All of these experiences have made psychologist Jan the most self-consistent Jan among all the alters. He was actually Jan that had undergone subconscious training during Act 3 in advance. He has already learned to accept himself after facing the disaster of self-collapse in the past.
Therefore, his storyline is the only one among alters that does not involve personal transformation or personal issues. In fact, he actively helps the main character Jan mediate his psychology and provides psychological counseling.

Doctor Jan: Gradually Moving Past the Regrets of the Past

Doctor Jan is the slowest-speaking of all the alters, with the most philosophical demeanor, appearing like a middle-aged man in his forties who has aged prematurely.
Doctor Jan and Psychologist Jan are two sides of the same coin.
Doctor Jan failed to adhere to his own principles, using his relationship to treat his mother, leaving him with inner regret, believing he should not have betrayed himself.
Psychologist Jan, however, upheld his principles, passively watching his mother's death, leading to the collapse of his self, embarking on a journey of self-exile, and rebirth along the way.
In fact, psychologist Jan is Doctor Jan who had already embarked on the path of self-awakening.

The regret left by violating his own rules led Doctor Jan to get a tattoo of Sisyphus on his body. His life was like Sisyphus, endlessly pushing a boulder up a hill only to watch it roll back down. It is a futile struggle. One could say that the violation of his self and the disappointment of his mentor left him feeling there was no way out of his life. He was trapped in his past regret.

When asked about the tattoo, the psychologist cut to the chase, pointing out Dr. Jan's issue: “We are all human beings.” “We all have to live with our mistakes.” They are all ordinary people, and ordinary people cannot be without faults. The key is how to face one's mistakes rather than wallowing in them and losing the present moment. The doctor here is like the protagonist Jan from the past.
The tattoo given by the psychologist Jan is the opposite of doctor Jan's tattoo. Doctor's Sisyphus is one of painful futility, while the psychologist's Naranath Bhranthan is a happy madman. In the psychologist Jan's tattoo design, the madman is smiling as he kicks a stone. The madman is content with his past choices. Whether they were mistakes or not, he accepts them and is happy for himself.
The story of the doctor here is actually the same as the subconscious teaching that the protagonist Jan experiences in the Act 3 emphasizing the core of self-acceptance, including the acceptance of mistakes. What's past is past; dwelling on it is useless. What matters is the present.

Miner Jan: The Long Journey of Self-Empowerment

Miner Jan, aside from the main three Jan(technician Jan, scientist Jan, botanist Jan) with the most storyline, has the second-longest storyline. He is also one of the two characters who cause the most trouble for new players (the other being the main storyline's technician Jan). However, Miner Jan's storyline is also one of the most rewarding.
Players who assist him along the way can witness Miner Jan's growth. From his initial panic and fear of his own hands, to self-amputation due to phantom pain, to regrowing a new arm with the help of Scientist Jan and Technician Jan, he briefly regained his spirits.
The miner Jan, now with a fully grown arm, desperately wants to prove himself to those around him, to show that he is no longer the burden he was when he lay in bed with a severed arm. He works tirelessly for 12 hours a day, often returning late.
The optimistic refiner first notices something amiss with the miner Jan and recommends that he seek psychological counseling from psychologist Jan in the meditation room. Psychologist Jan approached the issue from two angles.
In the first counseling session, they discussed his father, identifying the source of the miner's desire to prove himself to others—the memories of being belittled and mocked by his father during his youth. In the second counseling session, psychologist Jan went further to help the miner let go of his emotional baggage, telling him that weakness is not shameful and encouraging him to focus on his actions rather than others' opinions.

In miner Jan's storyline, after confronting his inner vulnerabilities and overcoming his psychological barriers, he begins to ponder another question: What is the meaning of my life? This is his journey of self-discovery. In the past, his life was overshadowed by his father's memory, and he forced himself to appear strong in order to gain his father's approval. Now, having stepped out of the shadow, he reflects on what he truly desires. He recalls his genuine passion for woodcarving and asks the protagonist Jan to help him find suitable wood. After handing over the wood, this triggers a conversation about self-discovery for the reborn miner Jan. Engaging in woodworking has helped him regain a sense of control over his life.

The miner Jan's growth path:
An individual living in the shadow of elders seeks to prove themselves → Steps out of the shadow of elders to contemplate what they truly desire → Finds their true passion and takes control of their own life.
Scientist Jan: Face the truth👓💡
Does the individual who has come this far have the courage to take off his mask and face his inner self?
Scientist Jan's storyline is, in my opinion, the best-written alter storyline in this script. Scientist Jan's character arc is fully realized through his story.
As one of the two alters who accompany the protagonist the most (the other being Technician Jan), and also one of the three alter with the most story line (Technician Jan, Scientist Jan, and Botanist Jan), his story arc differs from the others.

If the other Jan storylines focus on realistic issues that ordinary people encounter, such as Technician Jan's memories of his mother, Botanist Jan and Refiner Jan's romantic recollections, Doctor Jan's Sisyphean understanding of life, Worker Jan's collective aspirations and need for admiration, and Miner Jan's vulnerability and resilience—these are all issues that ordinary people may encounter to varying degrees in real life.

---
However, the scientist Jan's storyline has a different focus. It resembles the contemplative themes explored by Somerset Maugham in The Moon and Sixpence: under the shadow of secular pursuits, whether an individual is willing to confront their true self. In the scientist Jan's storyline, his transition from pursuing recognition and success in secular pursuits to facing his true self and pursuing spiritual truth mirrors Strindberg's transformation in The Moon and Sixpence from a securities broker with a comfortable life and a happy family to an artist who leaves his hometown to pursue his true self.

In the face of spiritual needs, is the individual willing to peel off the masks they wear, confront their true self-needs, and make a choice?

The pursuit of fame under secular influence

After experiencing a therapeutic crisis in Act 2, the scientist Jan realized that he might encounter unexpected circumstances and that the future would not be smooth sailing. He prepared for this by recreating his research. Here, he acted out of self-interest, believing in his own abilities and the value of his research. This laid the groundwork for his eventual fate. During this period, he remained proud and immersed in confidence in his own abilities.

---
When the research is recreated, he faces an existential crisis. In this timeline, he does not exist. How can he leave a mark of his efforts and gain recognition? At this point, he compromises and chooses to use the protagonist's name as the author. He remains focused on preserving his own achievements and pursuing his own value.

Pursuing the exploration of inner calling

In Act 3, when the protagonist Jan listens to his subconscious and walks on his journey of self-growth, the scientist Jan is also deeply moved and reflects on his own methods. Perhaps he should try a different approach? He no longer relies solely on pure rational logic as he did in the past, but begins to acknowledge his inner intuition and listen to his inner voice to seriously explore the planet that has brought him countless discoveries. He chooses to step out of his laboratory and take risks to conduct field investigations of his discoveries. This is also a process of exploring his curiosity.

---
This discovery completely transforms him. All his efforts were worthwhile. Everything he has explored and discovered on this planet was preparation for this momentous occasion—the ultimate reward for his journey: the miracle of life on the planet.
Upon his return, he speculated on the causes behind the miracle and marveled at it. He hoped to witness this cycle again and again. He was born on this planet, and his past memories exist only in his mind. Perhaps the land beneath his feet, where he was born, and the places he has always explored are his true home, his destined destination.

Stripping Away the Facade, Seeking the Truth

When the protagonist Jan asked him about the things he once desired—those research achievements, those aspirations to leave a name behind, those hopes for recognition—the scientist Jan responded candidly: "What if I was wrong? Perhaps those desires were driven by flawed motives. Maybe they were merely for self-respect, not the truth." The pursuits of the past were but illusions of desire, while the exploration on this planet was truly for the sake of truth.
He says, "Perhaps the truth that one faces alone, is the only truth." When one's fame and achievements have become fleeting memories of another time and space, can one honestly face one's current self? Scientist Jan answers this question in his own way. He removes his mask, chooses to face his true self, and confronts his own destiny alone.

---
When the protagonist remarked, "Destiny? You used to believe that only success had value. How things have changed," he explained that his previous persona as a know-it-all in front of the protagonist Jan was merely an attempt to prove himself. He rarely showed his vulnerability, but now he said, "I must remove the mask. I admit I'm a bit scared, but other than that I'm more curious. That's what science is all about, isn't it?" Facing one's true self means shedding the facade worn in reality, peeling away layer after layer of one's outer shell, removing the coverings imposed by external factors, and confronting the authentic self within. How could one not be afraid? Who knows what the true self looks like?

When the the protagonist said goodbye to the scientist Jan, the usually sharp-minded scientist paused for a moment, something he rarely did. "Goodbye, my friend. My... alter." "Goodbye, brother. May you find what you seek." "There is a part of it I have already found." Scientist Jan said with a satisfied smile. That part was what he had come to understand along the way: to face and accept his true self.

---
It was at the end that the scientist Jan's character arc was fully established.
From his initial arrogance about his achievements, believing that success and hard work were the only values, to his mid-period self-doubt and existential crisis, questioning what he should leave behind for the world, and compromising on research achievements to prove his existence, to his final self-awakening, realizing that what he had pursued was nothing but the “illusion of desire,” driven by the need for self-respect and recognition. This is the path he should have chosen—to honestly face himself, to truly face the truth (seeking truth).
Ultimately, Scientist Jan removes his mask, bravely confronts himself, pursues the truth itself, and accepts the fate of sharing the planet's destiny.

His body was born on this planet,
his spirit also belongs to this planet,
on this planet where the sunrise destroys everything,
witnessing the miracle of the cycle of life,
and sharing life and death with this miraculous cycle.
Is this not a form of romanticism?

Reporting back. No matter how many times I tried to reload the save where I did NOT complete the Chill lesson, I could not get his story line event to trigger. So I loaded the game file where I had completed his chill lesson already, finished Act 2--and the Shrink's story line triggered the first night after sending the scientist out to find the Oasis. I suspect you have to complete his chill lesson in the same save file in order to get his story line to complete. Just a hunch, but it triggered immediately after getting to that specific point in the game.

Shucks. No matter many times I reload the last 6 days after the kitchen meeting, I cannot get the Shrink to appear in my cabin to finish his storyline. It's the last I achievement I need to 100% the game. I wonder if there needs to be specific alters in the base to get him that far. I did go "on a trip" with him, too. But, not in the same save. Maybe I'll just start after the trip and just continue to play.

Quick note on the worker storyline as it did not pop for me on my second run in act 3 and had to reload act 2. You must talk to Lena about the implant route (even if you are planning to do Tabula Rasa) to trigger a conversation with the worker about the large protest where people died. Without this, giving him the badge does not trigger the longer conversation that completes the storyline

Thank you for writing your thoughts down about the Alters' story!!! I too wrote them in a reddit thread at r/Alters but your explanation is WAY BETTER than mine. I agree as well that The Scientist has the best story out of all of them and he's also my favourite.

I would say the difference for me to get the Worker's storyline to complete is to choose the Implant path and gave him the soup suggested by the Refiner, and then get him back on Act 3 with the Fierce Ocelot badge. But I guess I didn't do the right convo when I go for Tabula Rasa route since you said you can finish it. Otherwise, the Worker's story is more flavorful when you go for Implant path which made him my second favourite Alter storyline wise.

I love all the Alters even the annoying ones like the Technician EXCEPT for the Guard. He needs to be tossed into the gravitational anomaly and fling into the sun.

I would like to add that to get Technician Jan's Assertiveness lesson trigger you need to side with him a few days into Act 1 when he and the scientist argue about quality food. Build the greenhouse and provide quality meals for everyone for 2 days and complete the task.

Build the Dormitory when asked by the Technician and report to him to earn his favour.

Build the first Rapidium Ark he will ask you to talk to him about being a servant to the corporation; pick favourable options that agree with his claims.

*important note* I am not sure if building the ark earlier will trigger this dialogue once all the above is completed but to be on the safe side build the first ark after completing the quality meal task + dormitory task.

After all this you should trigger the final step to build a social room at his personal request so you can play beer pong with him. Build the room and play a full beer pong game to trigger an instant discussion where you will learn Assertiveness.

Thanks for the detailled guide.

Unfortunatly i wasn't aware for optimal combination for achievements at launch :altera:

- So I did, first playthrough Implant path :
Botanist + Miner (rebel) + Doctor + Psychologist (rebel) + Tabula.

- Second playthrough Implant path again because of the Refiner story needs, so :
Botanist + Refiner + Worker (rebel) + Guard.

- Then reloaded before the end of act 2 shortly after the begining of act 3 and not doing the implant path this time for Maxwell's path, time to achieve the Refiner story.
Botanist (rebel) + Refiner (rebel) + Worker + Guard.

OMG, such a serious spelling mistake :lunar2019crylaughingpig:.Thank you for your comment. I will correct them right away:lunar2019piginablanket:.
As for the two botanist ending achievements, I checked my trigger time. In my second playthrough, I triggered them separately based on two different choice. Don't worry, I will add what you said into the guide.
Yeah, you are right. The speedrun combinations part is not detailed enough. I will add more details.
Thank you for your long comment.:lunar2019grinningpig:

Thanks for providing the community with this excellent guide! It was truly helpful, and I successfully achieved 100% completion.

Based on my own playthrough, I have a few suggested tweaks that might further enhance the guide. I will separate into 2 comments due to character limits per comment.

1/2

Tabula Rasa Spelling
Just a small correction: it's "Tabula Rasa ," not "Tabula Rosa ."

Multiple Playthrough Achievements (4 Speedrun Combinations / Alters Achievement: 21)
To optimize for achieving all achievements as quickly as possible:

First Playthrough
This should ideally include Tabula Rasa . It's crucial to explicitly state not to sacrifice him. Perhaps add a note like, "Technician + Scientist + Botanist + Doctor + Psychologist + Refiner + Tabula Rasa (DO NOT SACRIFICE - Choose Lena's way after creating him) ."
I missed his achievements even when following the guide and had to do an additional half by loading my save from the first playthrough, so this clarification would be very beneficial.

Second Playthrough
"Any" isn't a viable option for the second playthrough, as the Refiner is necessary to unlock the Worker. It should be: Technician + Scientist + Miner + Refiner + Worker + Guard.
