By default the highest resolution Comanche 4 supports is 1280x1024 (5:3). As much as I'd love to be able to play at native widescreen resolutions, this is not an option. We can however enable a higher resolution of 1600x1200 (4:3) for an overall sharper image within the games .cfg file.

To do this we need to head to the games main directory and open the games cfg file. This can be done by going to Steam, Right clicking on the game, going to "installed files" and clicking on "browse..." This will open the games main directory.

Open the c4.cfg file with a editor of your choice. (notepad will suffice)

By default the game has the option of 1600x1200 but it is not enabled for whatever reason. This means we wont have the option for this resolution in the main menu.



After you've done this you can save the file and reopen your game. Go into the options and you should see the option for 1600x1200.

The game will now restart and you'll have your all new sharper resolution.

Another option we have to get the game sharper is forcing MSAA through the Nvidia control panel, as our option for AA is greyed out in the main menu. To do this open the Nvidia control panel, head to Manage 3D settings, then program settings and select Comanche 4's executable (c4.exe) From here we will have some options.

Under the Antialiasing mode select "Override any application setting"
Under Antialiasing - Setting, select "8x"

You can also set Anisotropic filtering to 16x if you'd like. This has little to no performance impact and will help distant textures look sharper. You can now relaunch your game and have most of the jaggies removed!
