About Guide
This guide was created for my steam group and page, (it comes in 28 February) to help avoids scammers on the page. As we know; this is unpleasant to lose any item. If you can help translate this into other languages I will be happy to share this with others, so they will not lose their items either. This text can show you some basic method of scamming.

P.S. This is only basic information about scammers, not a bible of scam. If you have common sense you will understand that phishing can even have basic links and you can open them, but show up. Always check this on a profile: Friends, group, commends profile on steamrep.com and never rush with a trade. Take your time.

REMEMBER: If you don't want be scammed you need two things: BASICS AND YOUR BRAIN

Thank you and remember

We are here 4 u !
Offered also in these languages:
General
The most important things that you should know when you trade:

People who want to trade with us have so-called...’active accounts’

They have:

• More than 5 games
• A public profile
• Very few comments
• An avatar (Profile picture)

People who want to scam us have ‘dead accounts’ or just new account with:

• One game
• A private profile

Their accounts are expendable. They don’t care if they get banned.

Status>Reputation
Reputation is information about the history of the exchange on Steam frequently placed on the profile. It used to be something great, but today on the one large trade page reputation stop to be important, because it can be easily bought or buy account and start thefts in areas where someone needs to send first money or item.

Status - tells us who we are on Steam. That's why every bigger seller with big reputation certainly leads additionally group or is somewhere moderator, admin etc. etc., So it is worth a look in profile and ask who the hell he is!

Why is this important?

As I mentioned a reputation you can buy and rob someone - Status - you can't buy, and people like me have a lot to lose. Just if someone send evidence that i scam someone and i will lose people in the group, which cares for over a year. Is it worth a few euros? NO !

A person with a reputation doesnt scare anything, because even if you put negative rep he will remove this in 2 seconds from profile. 0 fear of loss anything.

Therefore, I advise you to be careful on reputation, because in times where these sites allow you to purchase the reputation - it is worth nothing.
Steam game Key’s
Selling:

When you’re selling games as a steam key the most important aspect to look for is buyer reputation. If they have less than fifty positive comments* never – NEVER give the key first. In posts about trades always include that you always go as second. Exceptions are people with more than 50 positive comments. If the buyer doesn’t want to do first step always use a middleman to help. If the buyer offers someone of their own then check if this person is trustworthy. Scammers try proposing friends from their friends list to be middleman to add a false sense of security. Never agree with that.

* - Why fifty? This is because someone can ask friends from steam to put rep on his profile or Just buy rep for items and without any problem you can Get 10 rep in 1 min.

Buying:

When you’re buying games as a steam key make sure the seller has a lot of comments. If He doesn’t have it a whole lot just offer middleman and show him the page where you find the middleman.

You can find a trusty middleman right here: HERE [steamrep.com]

Middleman - A person who took your and your buyer’s (or seller’s) inventory and exchange the items between the two of you.
Paypal / bitcoin etc.
PayPal / bitcoin etc.

The rules are similar to the steam game keys. If someone doesn’t have more than 50 comments never send money first. If you think that person has enough reputation and you can trust them on the exchange do the first step, but remember that if you are not one hundred percent sure you can use our ‘super sellers’ page.

If you buy or sell expensive items for money a lot people can pretend that they are one of sellers that you know or they’re just famous seller that no one needs to check out. Watch out for this and keep this seller in friends or bookmark on page.

How to avoid:

Always include information about leaving the offer on page. If someone doesn’t leave an offer ask him to show their profile on the trade page, not steam profile, trade page. Check his trade history (Professional trader’s buying expensive items, always has hundreds of open/ close trades) and try to add him to friends. If you have successfully added him to your friends list then it is okay, but if you see that you add someone else other than the target person just report this person for pretending to be someone else.
Stealing Steam accounts - hi add my friend method
Account stealing can only happen if the scammer gets your login and password. The way this works is that they get into your account. Often they will add you and will ask you to add his alternative account or friend who has an offer for you and will give you link to his account.

Example 1:

Example 2:

Everything looks okay, but there is one thing that you must know. The link reminds you steam page isn’t a steam page. It is a fake steam page that you log into and it gives the scammer all of your information. All of your information ( as Login and password ) that help him to Get your account In 5 min.

How to detect a fake link ?

Original link to steam page: http://gtm.steamproxy.vip

The fake will always contain a mistake like right here:

Example 1:

Example 2:

How Avoid:

If you do not want to check the link to see if it is okay then ask the person to tell his friend about adding your account or change account and then added you for trade. If you see that the person gave you a fake link then send report to steam about trying to break into your account.

Watch out !

Scammers are now using stolen by himself ,, Alive accounts " to rob people, but you can quickly recognize them. This bots that send text, hi add my friend ... "and the false link. You'll recognize them easily.
Stealing Steam accounts - screensaver method
New way of acquiring accounts which you meet very often. Hi add my friend unfortunately is thing of the past and slowly replaces it with our screensaver.

What is it?

Someone added you - probably dead account with a private profile and offer you an exchange for something and shows a link like this:

When you click on this link you will download and immediately install the software, which is designed to steal login data on Steam. Of course, before doing that we need to lead the installation to the end, and at the end we will see something like the screen saver with a strange and unknown object. You must know that the image you see is telling you that your account is already empty from items.

Therefore I warn you to not open strange links from new added users and uncertain friends, let alone do not install anything what they give you

push.me CAN BE LEGIT SITE BUT INFO ON THIS SITE ARENT LEGIT WHAT SHOWS YOU SCAMMERS IF YOU BELIVE THAT LINK IS LEGIT JUST CLICK ON IT BUT DONT COME TO ME IF YOU LOSE YOUR ITEMS. i DONT GIVE A DUCK ABOUT THIS THAT PAGE IS LEGIT TO TIME WHEN SCAMMERS USE IT. I JUST WARNING YOU BUT WHAT YOU DO IS YOUR BUSINESS

AND STOP FOR GOD SAKE WRITE THAT PUSSH IS A LEGIT SITE BECAUSE EVERYTIME WHEN I SEE THIS I JUST DO A FACEPALM AND NOW I HAVE HEADACHE.
Stealing Steam accounts - tournament / raffle - downloading or login
Method is interesting and perhaps best of all because they do not welcome you like bot but you speak with a real person who talks to you and asks you for help in winning a small tournament where you can win any awards - sets, hats, keys, etc. etc. Of course, everyone would like to try luck if that it was only one game. Of course (and this is also true), you must install the program to talk from the company that is sponsoring, because sponsor has customers, and players get items, so for someone who plays a lot of tournaments knows that this is normal, but not for me because my sound card is a woman and doing sulks 28 days in a month and not allowing me to use any communicator, and once I do it crackles like a mother in law, when you eat her cheesecake. Therefore even though the guy added me much earlier, and I had the game teams are thanked him and despite everything caught me in his spare time making conversation looked like this:

Of course there is another tournament and also at the Razor. I got a download link, but,, something "that damn,, something" caused me to verify the information in google. It turned out that the original link looks different

Original link: http://www.razerzone.com/

False: http://www.razer-talk.com - probably will be, and others

Razor talk is only example there was also radialcall or asking to log in on some page then you get something - remember if someone strange added you and send you any kind of link just remove him/her asap

How To Avoid

1. No one just like that does add strangers to play the tournament for the good things. There is nothing worse than not proven player in the team I'd rather play with a complete noob which I have in my friends, than a player that i never played.

2. Find out information about the tournament on Google. If is it to be loud about this

3. Think and you avoid many of the problems
Steam Wallet
Steam Wallet

You can’t transfer, in any way, money from one steam wallet to another, so if you see text like this:

,, Time: 13.49 XYZ user transport 0,00$ from steam wallet user bla bla bla..”

And then someone open a trade window - if you put item and agree, you lose your items and don’t get any money on steam.

If someone wants to use steam money there is three options to trade:

1. Ask your exchange partner to buy keys for this money

2. If you have good reputation, put an item on the market (it can be a simple chest) that will be worth the same price as you want to get from trader. If they buy item, you’ll get the money and then you can give him items via trade window.

3. Buy a steam card and give you code to fill your steam wallet
Fake Item's
I read one guide and guy said something about swapping items when someone doesn't see it in trade but then cancels the trade on the bottom ‘ready for trade’ and then everyone sees that there is something wrong or if you trade for more then 10 items always check twice then click - ready for trade.

Also remember if you trade for something you still see the item loading. Just wait when it appears. Someone can just turn on downloading and steam will have problems with loading a picture on trade. This gives the opportunity to scam, but you don't see a lot doing this option. Mostly people try finding someone who doesn't have a lot of hours in DOTA and sell some items as an expensive one.

Here is an example (sorry for Polish name it's soul reaper):

As you see it's scythe for Necro normal item and a lot of people know this as cheap item's, but
scammers just change name and here we get... pudge hook ! :

Even if you don't know the price of the item use search on page or just ask someone from our help.
Impersonators
Impersonators - a person who is pretending to be another a known person's profile ( they changing Nick on the same, the avatar also same group ). Often, the victims are nothing knowing the seller.

The scammer uses this account to pull items from you by offering you money for items because then you can not use the standard trade window. They will showed a different side and reputation, the true "owner " of the account, that ye believed him and gave items first.

How it work's

How to avoid:
- When will you reputation on other sites try to add it to the steam platform. If you add someone else it means that it is a fraud.

Big Thanks to GameOverGR for this video
Jackpot for items
Another option, which verifies our greed. Fraud is fairly new and is used most in CS: Go.Someone add of a person who has nice items and cooperation to placed objects together and winning a larger pool of items you share it equally. Unfortunately, the person who will give the item does not see its lot, because already after receiving the item will be removed from your friends.

Jackpot is about betting items - the more you put, the bigger chance you have to win and everything win only 1 person. Numbe r% chance of winning is dependent on the prices of items. The item donated more expensive - the more % chance of winning, and vice versa.

I believe that there is no so idiotic people who will agree to this, but I preferred to mention, that you avoided the unpleasantness associated with this theft method
I buy my items
A very simple method most often used by young scammers in the game dota 2, but it can also happen to other games. It consists in inserting your item in the steam market and create a new offer that specifically HE need this item and you give for THIS sooooo much, BUT ITEM IS REALLY CHEAP AS HELL. Dota 2 has specific heroic items. They have a record game of the tournament and the specific event (XYZ Team ZXY killed, bought, finished his YZX player XZY of ...) . THEY ARE VERY UNIQUE BECAUSE THERE IS NO SAME ITEMS WITH SAME TAG!

Therefore, if you see an offer as above - check whether the item is not on the market and who sell it. Often it turns out, that seller is the person who issued the offer, and doing it just because he wanna earn some cash on Steam for worthless item. When you buy this item - user quickly remove the offer and tell you that he no longer need this item.

Often you can find the person who adds you to friends and will offer you an expensive item if you buy from his friend or someone who wanna exchange item for the keys or something else. Often the excuse is the information that the seller wants something else that you definitely have, and the person who redeems it dont have it. UNFORTUNATELY OFTEN FRIEND OR USER With A GIVEN ITEM IS A ALTERNATIVE ACCOUNT OF THIS PERSON. WHEN YOU OVERPAY HE REMOVE YOU FROM FRIENDS LIST AND LEAVE WITH NOT WORTHY ITEM.
Items: Gifted once
This name you can see only in Dota 2 game. This method was create in panc for gaben workers because they did not know how stop scammers with stealig items. They block one possibility and open even worst method. - Gifted once. It's item or set that you can gift only once and if you do this will be untradable/ungiftable forever.

But where is the problem ?

Gifted items you can't put on trade window and like on paypal option someone must go first and of course even if you create a guide about scammer and have massive rep there always find a person with 3 rep and say to me you go first :D that's funny. Ok then if you will belive and give item first and other person will be scammer they delet you from friends and block with your set on his/her inventory.

Then when you start trade with person like this check always:
  • Check reputation - How much they have on profile ( if you find a trader on lounge dont trust rep because people can buy rep on this profle), what it's say on rep - if is only ,, rep + " or info that user go first and this seller dont scam him. - if you find info like this go to person who put commend and chck hist inventory. It's easy to check because this item will be untradable and will be have note ( fro whom and dediction) like this:

Expire items
Start hateing that method because a lot of people add me and try ask what they can do with expire item. Expire items are moustly events items that you can use only for a while then gone from your backpack. You can keep them only on alternative account or you can use bug and trade in open game then they dont disappear from your inventory.

There is a lot of chest in TF2 and Dota 2 that got expre chest and cant be opened. Price of this chest is high because there is only couple houndred of them. If you wanna read more about expire items go here: Expire items and chest

Why this is a scam ?

There is a lot of people who dont know nothing about expire items and they wanna still open that chest. Some people who wanna sell it just dont say ANY WORD ABOUT THAT and sell very fast this items. When someone just open game lose chest and lose possibility to use steam support and get back his keys.

Price are terrible - 10 keys for chest that cant be opened and without any word about ussless sell this saying people that can be open is scam as hell !

Example of one person:
Hide and seek
Often used by idiots (aka beginners fraud) During the exchange with the window open when you agree and the exchange will be accepted. Cheater quickly pulls out the most expensive item and clicks accept. Often explains out it by mistake, but it will do so a few times. When you see someone like that leave him with his method and thanks for being ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
An interesting offer
Here, I mean someone who adds you and proposes a item worth several times more for this what he wants to get. Often it looks all innocent, but it is a higher lvl of scam. Namely, after the bid opening trade everything looks ok User adds item + some free items (like the rest of the hero set). When you add your items and finished exchanging see that you did not get the most expensive item, only those worthless items.

In some way, the user sends and blocks the image that you confirm the exchange, and this item already long gone.

How to avoid such a scammer

1 Idiots is less and less, so the mere fact that such an exchange is already suspect

2 when a user adds a few extra junk say that you do not need them and have to give only the expensive item. Then it should show you a window that you give items for free (or do not get anything more)

3 This user has an account as mentioned at the beginning. So few friends a couple of hours in the game, etc. No one, with ,,rich" steam account "does not do you in the balloon, because such accounts are immediately banned by the steam.
Highballing
Highballing is not a scam!

Adds only the information about it because many people confuse it with deceit.

Highballing is only overpricing items and is not a scam but the greed of the owner of items
Fast and Cheap !
Fast and cheap deals are always suspicious, so be careful when you buying such items. I refer to the scammers who robbed someone and sell the items at the smallest prices to get rid of them. Unfortunately, when we buy item from this seller items and the real owner reports scam to the Steam Support items will be returned to real owner, and you will stay without a purchased item and items that you gave to the thief.

If you want to avoid this method t Check the reputation, ask how he got the subject and why it sells cheaply while you should immediately check the link on the Steamrep that is not marked as a cheater. Take your time. He needs to sell it quickly, because at any moment the steam can return the item to the owner.
I'm a girl ! ... method
This is a funny method.

Some people create fake accounts and give it a girl's names then take a picture from google and play as woman. When young or just single guys see that they start be nice to her (him), help, saying nice word's just hormones working and then he attack with sweetest words, kisses etc. to get anything from the victim.

This is not that scary like phishing, but remember that.
Begging
This is not a scam but it’s very annoying. When someone added you to trade and beg for items. I created this guide less than 10 h ago and more than 20 people add me and beg for expensive items. They were saying pliss, please, im poor got enough to the end of the year.

Dir Guys and Girl’s

Remember that everyone from us must spend real money or time in game and then time on trade sites to get these items. This always took a lot of time and if you want to use this method. You're only embarrassing yourself.

For me this laziness is worst then biggest scam ever. Don’t add me for Begging

Plisss...
If you fail...
.. Do not give up!

The whole situation you must report to the Steam Support . Log in and find the appropriate department at the time of writing you have to check what method you have been scammed.

and here are some important information:

  • If you admit n text that you wanted to sell items for money (even steam wallet) Steam does not return the items. They just send for you congratulations for stupidity.

  • The same case is with steam game keys to the game and accepted offers by you

If you send this info to steam = you lose items

The only method that allows you to recover items is phishing method - the rest figure it out.

NEVER - EVER use category: stolen items because steam got 72 ways how to dont return your items. Use always: stolen account is 90 % of success to get items back

Important Steam has in the a** your items, so the first message that you get from steam support did not even read and send the other one. The first message is a pure bot repeating over and over the same information.

because you are unsocial :) My face watch a lot of peope everyday and i dont hide my face. If someone wanna watch then what is the problem. I dont have account forth 10 k $ then i dont need to hide it. If people read your info then just delete info from profile and everyone will be happy. Also i never add private profile - like 99 % of traders

How to avoid scammers: Don't be retarded.
