As to why mine are broken, if I knew how they'd managed to break them the last couple of times, they wouldn't be broken anymore. they've changed something in the way the mounting information is stored and read, so my custom mountpoints are being turned into awkward mounting.
As to why I needed custom mountpoints, i wanted players to be able to mount blocks to the sides of the turret base, but not up the side of the 'cube' that technically defines the space it occupies, block-wise.
Now whatever they have done is making the turret only placeable if you are looking at it's placement point from the 'bottom' of the turret, any other direction doesn't seem to want to place at all. Does this make sense to me? No, it doesn't, it is theoretically impossible for a placement definition to turn into that, and yet, it has happened.
Too much has been changing lately, and not all of it for the better.
Most of the people i used to play with stopped playing, and we can't run our dedicated server anymore as of several updates ago, because the memory usage went from ~2gb to 10~16, and we share server resources with a few other games.
Since I can't play with others anymore, I have almost completely stopped playing, and can no longer adequately test my mods agains the constant 'updates' being thrown out by Keen.
The black textures are because it hasn't been updated to DX11, which is my fault, as i haven't had the time to slow down and fight with the tools to get it done.
Also, as I told Annihilist below, the devs have done something to the block placement handling that has broken most of my mods in a way I'm having trouble fixing.
At current even if you manage to place one of the turrets from this mod, or a laser lance from my other mod, they place oddly, and don't function properly, because the game is misinterpreting the model dimentions and placement information.
