IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING AND JUST WANT A FIX JUMP TO THE TUTORIAL

Like some of you I had problems when playing the Evil Within with highend Hardware or in general

My PC just straight up crashed twice in the same scene when entering the cutscene, where you ride away in the ambulance in chapter 1 and I had to reset my power supply because it's breaker tripped...

This may slightly reduce performance in some cases.
Anyway I fixed it by using DXVK[github.com]
For those who don't know what DXVK is or does, it sits between the game and your GPU driver and captures all calls to DirectX (11 in this case) and forwards them as translated calls to Vulkan.
It's the same tool Valve uses for the Steam Deck as part of their Proton Tools.
(It actually sits between the game and the library for that graphics api and stuff that's not worth explaining)

After installing DXVK it fixed my issues went away so I guess it might help you

You need to download the latest version of DXVK here[github.com].
If you're on Windows you need to get the "dxvk-2.6.2.tar.gz" (the 2.6.2 is the version and could be anything else just make sure it's not "native-2.6.2-steamrt-sniper.tar.gz" because that's for Steams Linux Runtime)

After downloading it extract it's files using something like WinRar or 7Zip or anything like that.
In it should be a folder called "dxvk-2.6.2" and in that are two folders
One being "x32" and one being "x64".

I think I got the x64 one but I don't remember... (if the next steps don't work with x64 (the game doesn't launch) try x32).
Open that folder (x64 or x32) and copy all files (see image below but yours may differ)

You want to copy these files next to the Evil Within exe

After that just launch the game if it worked the game will create some files next to the exe called something like "dxgi.txt" or something
There should be new txt files or something as log files
If there aren't any new files then it didn't work (write me a comment and I'll help you)
