Fishing Guide - All fishes & rewards [nukaknights.com GUIDE]
By Dan | Greuceanu
Season 21 of Fallout 76 puts fishing in the spotlight. You can now cast a line into almost any body of water across Appalachia, no matter how small. There’s a wide variety of rods, baits, hooks, and bobbers available to help improve your chances.

The types of fish you can catch depend on the region, and using better bait increases the odds of finding rare species. Weather conditions also influence what you might reel in. The most elusive catch is the axolotl—extremely rare, with only one specific variant available each month. On top of that, the new season introduces a series of fresh challenges, a dedicated quest, and a daily event, all packed with brand-new rewards.

How to start fishing in Fallout 76
New Quest "Casting Off"
To unlock fishing, you must complete the new quest "Casting Off." You'll speak with Captain Raymond Clark at the new location, Angler's Rest. Your task is to catch some fish and cook up some fish bites. Fishing will be unlocked during the quest. After the quest, the new daily will also be available. Numerous new rewards await you there..
New Location "Fisherman`s Rest"
The new Anglers Rest location is located right next to Valley Galleria in the far east of Appalachia.
.
You'll find three new NPCs at this location:
.
Linda Lee: A giant hermit crab and pet of the "Fisherman." If you give her fish bits while she's hungry, you can receive legendary weapons, armor, and power armor as rewards (1-3 Stars).
.
The Fisherman: A quiet, strange "fish-man" who likes to sharpen his knives. Here you can buy common fishing bait.
.
Captain Raymond Clark: The old sailor is the most talkative of the three NPCs. He gives you tasks for the new quest and also provides you with the new daily. You can also buy common fishing bait from him.

.
Keys to start fishing
You stand by a body of water. If you now look at the water, you'll have a new option to cast your line. Hold down the fishing button and you'll be in fishing mode. Here you can change the view, change the bait, and cast your line.

Bait Types
There are three types of bait: Common, Improved, and Superb.

You can obtain common bait from Captain Raymond Clark and the Fisherman, as well as from new collectors in your camp.

Improved bait can be obtained from the following activities: all public events as well as engame events like Encryptid, Scorched Earth (Queen), A Colossal Problem (Earle Williams), Seismic Activity (Ultacite Titan), Neurological Warfare, and also from the caravans in Milestone Zero.

Superb bait is only available during the season. It may also be available later in the Atom Shop. So be sparing with it.
Fishing Rod Improvements
You now always have your fishing rod with you. However, you can't see it in your inventory. You have to craft replicas for the display cases at the crafting workbench. Real fishing rods cannot be displayed.

There are numerous skins for fishing rods in the Atom Shop and the season, as well as various bobbers.

There are also various mods for reels, hooks, bobbers, and rods. You can use a tinker workbench to change the mods.

The mods each change the following attributes: time to hook, line strength, reel in speed, catch zone, and rotation speed. Generally, it seems better to use a stronger line for larger fish; the other attributes are a matter of taste in my opinion. I couldn't find a "ultimately best" mod during testing. It's best to try it out for yourself.

Was a pretty fun addition to the game I hope they add more legendary fish! I am only missing the axolotols that haven't released yet. Also to give players hope Common bait can catch you anything don't feel gated from a lack improved or superb bait, they just speed up rare fish catching (which you should avoid until your rod is mostly upgraded anyways)

As a player who has been playing since release in 2018 its great to see this game still thriving and making fresh content for players. With this latest Gone Fisson Season, I keep seeing it said that there is a 0% of catching an Axolotl with common bait yet I have caught over 10 with Commmon Bait and a Rain Biome. Hope that encourages players a bit.
