Best Spots to put Stairs From Floor 1 to Floor 7
By Lil' Green Apple
Tired of putting stairs down in spots that don't match up? This guide will show you which spots on each floor allow you to build straight 7 floor staircase, so you can put your stairs once and not have to move then as you unlock future floors.

Hope this helps!!

Overview for Guide
(SKIP TO THE MAPS SECTION FOR THE ACTUAL PICTURES)

So I'm making this guide because I know when I was slowly unlocking each floor during the campaign, I kept struggling to put down stairs in good spots that wouldn't require me to make completely new ones in different spots. So I figured I'd map out exactly which spots on each floor have overlapping buildable areas, so you could put down stairs on Floor 1 and be confident you can extend it to every floor above as you unlock them.

What I did was simple, if tedious. I looked at each floor and mapped them out in excel, using the existing staircases I'd placed on each floor to line them all up.

Example below is Floor 1, where the blue spots were 2 staircases I'd placed that lead to Floor 2.

Then i compared them all to see where which spots on the grid were buildable spots for each floor.
It seems like a jumbled mess but it's a map of essentially how many floors were buildable upon at any given spot. Green tiles are optimal spots where all 7 floors are buildable at that tile, and then from white, fading to black, are spots where most but not all floors have a buildable tile.

How to Read the Floor Maps
Based on the layered map I made indicating spots on every floor that overlapped, I recreated maps of each floor with the optimal spots colored in green. Here's any relevant info for how to read these:

1) each outlined "square" on the map is actually made of 4 x 4 tiles. You can see when u go into the build mode and zoom out that the map naturally segments into 4x4 grid squares so that's essentially what I'm showing in each map.

2) Stairs technically take up a 3x3 space, but also need an additional empty row at the front- so they really need 3x4 tile space open so keep that in mind when looking at possible spots for stairs.

Color Coding

  • Green areas are spots where if you place a staircase, you can extend it all the way from floor 1 to floor 7 with no issue.
  • Orange on walls + Dark Red on each side- these are doorways in which incursions can enter. The orange is to mark the actual doorway for reference, and the dark red are the tiles you cannot build on that might block off the door, so not counted as "buildable upon" for the sake of the stairs.
  • Brown areas are the outside areas on which you are able to build exterior furniture, not relevant for stairs.
  • Dark Brown are nonbuildable areas on Floor 7 that connect the buildable areas in the towers; not relevant for stairs.
