Landmass Blackwall

The Blackwall is possibly one of my favorite fictional locations of all time. Mechanical horrors beyond our comprehension just teetering at the edge, threatening all of humanity who could end it in one fell swoop. Just look at Songbird. When my laptop was getting repaired for an agonizing 2 weeks, a Blackwall map idea came to me and I knew that it has to be the first thing I work on after it was repaired. This is probably a record as this was made in a matter of 2 days, maybe even less if we disregard the sleep.

Many of the effects used here are just usual Source shaders done with some unconventional methods, such as the landscape floor which is just a glowing 16x grid texture with an animated detail texture stretched across. The process of creating them however took up most of my time working on this. I'm pretty proud of it I think.
