The guide will not show you how to make the "simple" suspension designs.

Simple suspension designs.
Spring suspension
Pros
  • Cheap
  • Relatively compact
  • Extremely simple
  • Can be made to not be able to bottom out
Cons
  • Can't hold heavy weights
  • Can over extend
Design shown was able to hold 7 weight blocks.
Parts list
  • 19 Hubs
  • 4 Medium springs
  • 4 90 Degree bends
  • 4 Rover wheels


Torsion spring suspension
Pros
  • Cheap
  • Very compact
  • Can hold heavy weights
  • Extremely simple
Cons
  • Prone to bottoming out
  • Can become very bouncy and hard to control on rough terrain
Design shown was able to hold 16 weight blocks.

  • 5 Hubs
  • 4 Medium torsion springs
  • 8 90 Degree bends
  • 4 Double spacers
  • 4 Rover wheels
Complex suspension designs.
Double wishbone suspension
Pros
  • Cool looking
  • Good for high-speed
    and low-speed applications
  • Good for general haulers
Cons
  • Heavy
  • Expensive

Rocker bogie suspension
This is a mars rover style of
rocker bogie suspension

Pros
  • Can hold heavy weights
  • Classic mars rover look
  • Good for low-speed applications
  • Hard to cause a rollover
Cons
  • Heavy
  • Can get very unstable at high speed on rough terrain

@full_stop: You can get even better performance by having the sliders an springs at opposite angles with bearings. It better approximates the real suspension in a car. The spring's job is to keeps the slider extended and any downward load is then equally distributed between the two linkages and some of the force is redirected outward instead of up and down.

Hey @buddy boarder, I think it may be helpful to add suspension instructions for non torsion spring suspension designs, since you need to get decently far in the main missions before unlocking it.

I made a workshop item after trying to examine someones' Lego suspension if anyone wants an example until/ if he doesn't :) definitely not the best. it's called "Overengineered suspension thingy" in the shop. I think I basically made torsion springs but with extra steps XD.

The torsion springs, which are the small in-line springs shown, are gotten after the main missions for the Fair. The Fair missions are the ones in the far west with the tornados.
