what i wish i knew when i started playing
By a-bullet
helpful things the game didn't tell me about and tricks i figured out on the way; it won't get too spoilery.
the info will eventually be put in a better order.

plane parts
first up: coins you spend on parts are completely returned when removing a part. they're basically just a limit how big you can make your plane or how many of the unlocked advanced parts you can use.

you can unlock more parts for scrap, which you can either find at random or earn by completing missions.

by default the plane has 1 fuel and 0,05 electric charge

cockpits are optional, but since they have very good cargo per weight highly recommended.
most of them are more expensive than the same cargo in fuselage
also: you can have multiple cockpits :)

what do the different stats mean?
in general:
weight: more weight means slower to accelerate and more lift required
crate / cargospace: space available for cargo

for engines:
fuel usage: how much units of fuel is used per second at full thrust

for fuel tanks (and some wings):
fuel: how many units of fuel are added (x100, so a fuel value of 1 can run the wood engine with the fuel usage of 2 for 50 seconds)

for wings and tail wings:
strength: how fast you can go before the wing snaps off (x100, so the wood wing at strength 2,25 will snap at 225m/s) - a warning will appear when above 80% of that speed

not all later unlocked parts are upgrades in every aspect, most have tradeoffs in various stats
actually building a plane - the editor
it's basically easy: stick stuff together and make something that looks like a plane :D

when clicking on a part you may notice that other parts that were attached to it also get highlighted. you can use this to quickly move entire sections around.

there is a variety of tools available when clicking on different built parts:

for all parts available is :
Rotating parts around the 3 axes, either snapping at 90° angles or 45° angles or rotating free.

Moving parts along the shown axes, really useful to move stuff to where you actually want it - or hide them within the fuselage :)

Removes the selected parts - hotkey "del" also works

only for fuselage:
Moves the surface next to the arrows in the direction you drag the arrow. useful to make the fuselage longer or shorter.

Make the fuselage surface higher, wider or both when using the middle block.

Is your fuselage too round? Make it blocky again with these. One corner at a time or all at once when dragging a line.

for controllable parts like engines:
Can be used to set seperate control buttons (afterburner anyone?) or reverse the engine, if you put it in the back. You can also limit the maximum thrust
cargo
first things first: the required space for cargo does not equal it's weight. Some cargo is more dense than others so be aware of your weight.
Also: you don't have to pay for cargo at all, so don't worry if you blow it up a few times or throw the heavy stuff out mid flight.

You will eventually come across some cargo that will spoil after a certain amount of time. Loading another spoilable item will reset the clock.
missions
Missions mostly have multiple requests and give a bonus (mostly scrap) when finishing it completely.
Any request can be done over multiple trips - you don't HAVE to transport everything at once!

if you just can't manage a request right now, look for other stuff you actually can do to earn more coins and scrap. If you have nothing available but that damn request, there will most likely be a way to complete it. So experiement with your build.
the map and its markers
currently time is still and so is the sun. And it's also straight in the north, so until we get a compass somewhere in the HUD that is our only navigation point, unless you set a marker on the map or clicked on an airport to follow its mission. Doing so shows you to the airport which has the first requirement on the list until you either can't load any more or have enough loaded to satisfy the request. So even when you have SOME of the requested item loaded, but COULD load more, it will show you the loading airport and not the mission-destination. Sadly you can't directly mark an airport.
Crashing removes the personally set marker, but the selected mission remains active.

Landing at an airport will show you it's mission for you and uncover any airport that has the requested items. There are some airports that don't offer items, but still offer missions, so be sure to check them out. You can also find some scrap around the island, so it's worth to explore them. To collect scrap you just fly above it.

You may see the markers "snow" and "desert", these will only become relevant later in your progression.

Opening the map after resetting your plane to any airport will focus the map on the starter-airport. Subsequent openings will keep your last view.
options
currently only available in the menu

limited sound options (engine noise can only be regulated outside the game, for example with the windows volume mixer)

the option "auto-steer" is enabled by default and simplifies turning both on the ground and in the air, but it prevents controled rolling and loopings

actually an update to this, altitude for smooth landings can be about 50-55 max

hey nadre, try to come in low and slow to land smooth, but keep some throttle on, somehwere from 35-60 speed works, and about 10-30 alt works.

FOR FRAGILE MISSIONS :
MORE FUSELAGE , ADD MORE FRAGILE STUFF THAN REQUIRED , LAND HOW YOU WANT AND HOPE ONLY THE EXCESS BREAKS

Well, that's some misleading design choice. I just took it as redo because that's how any other program uses that shortcut.

apparently not "redo", but "undo" and also only one step.
it's a bit confusing, since the regular shortcut is ctrl + z
BBQ_Blaze 2 Jul @ 3:14pm
Also CTRL+Y works as redo in editor.

if you use a larger cockpit (the upper row in research gets bigger in radius) a larger fuselage looks less wrong - or you use multiple cockpits to raise your cargo.

smooth landing is mostly a question of how you fly. try to get low early, keep your speed just high enough to not sink, touchdown and break hard. somewhat like it's done IRL.
then again - if any cargo survives your landing you could just deliver more like that :)

I'm not really sure how to raise my plane's cargo space enough for the 300+ items without "massively expanding the Fuselage to the size of a blimp, and throwing every engine/balloon on it that I can", and I'm not sure how to bring my plane in for a landing smooth enough to not shatter the "Fragile" items like Ice and Glass...

I've beaten the game normally and some of the information in here i didnt even know. Thank you for the useful information.
