The first steps to create a mod
Downloading the tools for creating mods
Your first step is to download the two tules required for this:
- XrCompress for LotZ[modio.stalker-game.com] - this will be the packer for your mod to install and add directly to Steam:
- SteamCMD - the official utility for adding your mod directly to the Steam Workshop.
Preparing the first folder with the mod
Creating a folder with the mod
First you need to create a folder that will completely repeat the structure of the gamedata folder of the original Stalker in order to pack these files in the .pack format - I will do this using the example of a mod to change the Non Stop can to a classic one from SoC.

In the root folder “classic” created a structure of folders and files as they should be in the gamedata folder itself (you can name the folder as you like - not necessarily "gamedata")
Preparing a .pack file for the mod
Now the folder is ready for further conversion to pack format via XrCompress:
- Run a command prompt as administrator
- Enter cd %path% (the path to your bin folder “C:\Users\username\Downloads\bin” - where it was for me)
- Next, enter the command:
xrCompress.exe %path% -store (path to the folder with your mod, in this case, the “classic” folder)
- It is important to do all this on the system drive C!

After that, we will get the .pack file with the name of your folder, which must be edited and changed to the name gamedata.pack - “C:\gamedata.pack”. Example:

✅ Now your mod file has been successfully packed in the format required for further uploading it to the Steam Workshop.
Creating a new mod folder to upload to Steam
Preparing the mod upload folder
Now you need to create a separate folder where your mod and all the files to add it will be stored - in the example, the folder will be “mod_classic”, but you can name it whatever you want, it will contain the “mod” folder where the .pack file, .vdf text file with information about the mod and 512x512 image for the cover will be stored.

Create a file in the “.vdf” format and enter this value for editing:
"workshopitem" { "appid" "Game ID" "contentfolder" "Path to mod folder" "previewfile" "Path to cover image" "visiblity" "0" "title" "Mod name" "description" "Mod description" "changenote" "Release note" "publishedfileid" "ID that the mod will receive after being published for updating" }
"changenote" - leave empty
"publishedfileid" - leave empty

☢️ID-codes for the parts of the trilogy 🆔:
2427410 - The Shadow of Chornobyl - Enhanced Edition
2427420 - Clear Sky - Enhanced Edition
2427430 - Call of Prypiat - Enhanced Edition

Example:
"workshopitem" { "appid" "2427410" "contentfolder" "C:\mod_classic\mod" "previewfile" "C:\mod_classic\non.png" "visiblity" "0" "title" "Classic Non Stop Enegry Drink design" "description" "Classic design of the Ukrainian energy drink brand Non Stop and product placement in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series." "changenote" "" "publishedfileid" "" }
Steam Workshop and publishing
Launch the downloaded SteamCMD.exe utility and wait until it is configured so that the Steam> line appears to write the login command.

Now you need to log in to your Steam-account through this utility (don't worry, it's official from Steam)
login username_login password SteamGuardCode (Steam Guard code, if you have it)
❗Be sure to enter your Steam login, not your current nickname❗

After successful authorization, you are now at the final step of creating your own mod.
Now you need to enter the following command:
workshop_build_item “C:\mod_classic\mymod.vdf” (the path to your mymod.vdf file)

❗After downloading, the mymod.vdf file will update its ID for updates (content updates), if you need to replace/update the mod files - it is better not to lose this code and the .vdf file❗
Success!
Congratulations, your mod has now been uploaded to Steam Workshop and is available for download and editing!

xrCompress doesn't take the "config" folder. Is there a version of xrCompress for the Steam Workshop, witout the limitations of Mod.io ?

You just need to test it before the publishing on Workshop on EE - pack packs all files that match the file structure of the trilogy gamedata folder; ltx files, for example, are not suitable for Workshop

Can this be used to make mods for the original SoC compatible with EE?
