❥ Huā Lián | 花莲

Name
花莲 – Huā Lián
花 – Huā, flower
莲 – Lián, lotus
Alias
小花, Xiǎo Huā – Little Flower
花冠旅长, Huāguān Lǚzhǎng – Flower Crown Brigadier
花冠连长, Huāguān Liánzhǎng – Flower Crown Commander
Identity
Male Sylvari Mesmer
Birthdate
20th of April 2025
Familial
Pale Tree – Mother
Aife – Luminary
Ruaidán – boyfriend
Trahearne – boyfriend
Braham Eirsson – adopted son

Huā Lián emerged from his pod in the Cycle of Dawn, not long after Ruaidán, who would later become his beloved. Before awakening, he dreamt of the Shield of the Moon — a symbol of the destiny that awaited him. Though he held all of Ventari's Teachings in high regard, he was especially devoted to the belief that all things have a right to grow. In time, he joined the Durmand Priory, where he came under the guidance of Sieran, who became his mentor and close friend. He misses her dearly.

Though Huā Lián is, by nature, interested in people regardless of their gender, it was Ruaidán who happened to become his soulmate. He also came to love Trahearne, and over time, what began as a relationship between a Marshal and his two commanders blossomed into a triad. Their fate was sealed when the Firstborn had made some... intriguing commentary about tentacles and star-crossed lovers. Curiously, the three share a nocturnal glow — Ruaidán radiates red, Trahearne glows in a mixture between purple and pink, and Huā Lián shimmers in shades of purple — almost as if Trahearne had been waiting for them all along.

Trivia:
  • Hua Lián (花莲) is actually a mixture between Jinshi from Apothecary Diaries and Huā Chéng from Heaven Official's Blessing – I forgot Xiè Lián exists during character creation, and simply wanted a flower theme for him.
  • As such, his name is not actually based on Xiè Lián (谢怜) but rather Huā Chéng (花城) and the Chinese word for water lily or lotus, Lián (莲). Notice the different symbols for "Lián".
  • On that note, Lián is part of the word Lián Zhǎng (连长), meaning company commander.
❥ Calenya Volkarin
Name
Calenya Volkarin
Alias
Calenya First-Thaw
Bloodcovered Backstabbing
Blackjack the Blade
Identity
Norn-binary Necromancer
Species
Transformed Norn – "Elf"
Birthdate
22nd of May 2025

Relatives
Romke – distant ancestor
Shaman Sigrytha – mother-figure
Shaman Hraggorn – father-figure
Augur Hakon – adoptive father
Magnus Iricsson – boyfriend
Manfred – bone minion
Emmrich – bone minion

❝This would make a fine saga. If I survive it.❞

Rumours say that Calenya's pointy ears are a sign of a mixed heritage between a largos and a norn. Others consider this impossible, instead thinking she has been changed by the Mists. In truth, little is known about her past and heritage beyond her being Romke's descendant.

As an infant, Scholar Worfmir discovered Calenya deep within the Caledon Forest, having nothing in her possession beyond the Horn of Resounding. The child made the spirits stir uneasily, but Raven and Wolf could see the potential in her, and eventually Raven offered his guidance, calming the other spirits in turn.

Worfmir brought her all the way to Shaman Hraggorn, who then resided in Skovtrolde Hearthstead, calling her his little wolf. But back then, the lodge was no safe space for a child like her, and so, eventually, he brought her to the Borealis Forest, where she would be adopted by Necromancer Hakon.

Though she was much shorter and looked different than most of her peers, Calenya was raised as a Norn in every way. She learned about the legends of heroes, tested her strength in hunts, and communed with the Spirits of the Wild.

As she grew, Calenya began to see beyond the veil. In the windswept snow, she saw the dead — spirits of forgotten warriors, whispers of ancient conflicts. Unlike many shamans, she could touch these echoes, command them. Her necromantic power wasn't initially taught; it awakened, wild and instinctual, like the forest reclaims a ruin.

She sought wisdom from the long-dead, learning of ancient rites, necromancy, and lost magic. She sought guidance from Raven, and found a mother in Shaman Sigrytha.

Calenya walks the thin line between life and death, recording the legacies of the fallen and unearthing truths lost to time. Over time, whispers of a "Phantom Huntress" arose — one who struck from water or fog, then slipped away like mist. But while some came to fear her, those who had actually met her would soon realise one simple truth: her true self was full of kindness.

The young necromancer has sworn herself to protect the Spirits of the Wild, becoming like a wraith herself. Unfortunately, in her attempts to prove herself, she has lost Romke's horn, her only family heirloom — but she was too late, and thus chose to destroy it.

Eventually, she joined the Order of Whispers, where she was partnered with Tybalt Leftpaw. She wasted no time getting even with him for dragging her into a drinking contest — by making him dress up as a human woman, thoroughly enjoying the revenge.

Trivia:
  • She was originally called Calenya First-Thaw, but character customisation didn't allow for hyphenation, so it was changed to Volkarin – both inspired by Dragon Age.
  • Professor Emmrich Volkarin also inspired much of Calenya as a whole, as he is best described as a "happy necromancer" or "necromancer gentleman", and the idea behind Calenya was much the same.
  • Since norns typically either have Nordic/Viking-style names or Dutch/Frisian names, the surname "Volkarin" seemed quite fitting, as volk means "people" in Germanic languages, which include Dutch and Nordic languages. Moreover, the Russian волк (volk) means wolf, giving the name a connection to the Spirits of the Wild.
  • Her name was inspired by the Caledon Forest and is meant to sound elvish – though whether she is strictly elven or not is up to debate. After all, sylvari and humans already fill the typical "elven" stereotypes.
❥ Pakkupati Tims
Name
Pakkupati "Pakku" Tims
Student ID
152634
Identity
Female Engineer Mother
Birthdate
06th of June 2025
Curriculum Vitae
College of Synergetics
Created a VAL-A Golem
Became Snaff Savant
Familial
Prioxx – husband
Akkari – firstborn daughter
Milodazz – second-born
Furatomu – twin daughter
Meijakku – twin daughter
Zinga – first advisor
Zojja – alumni senior
Pol – krewemember

Pakkupati had always been fond of humans. They are just so droll! There was just something about their boundless enthusiasm and baffling logic that tickled her. Perhaps it was their knack for making a mess of things, or maybe their stubborn insistence on naming everything in such a juvenile way — including themselves. She just simply adored them!

Of course, Pakkupati herself had always been considered a bit of an oddball. She chose to attend the College of Synergetics — you know, the one where you have to be a muzzyhead to even consider joining — and her first advisor was the infamously unpredictable Mistress Zinga, whose academic philosophy boils down to "Planning ahead is for ninnies who think they can predict every possible outcome. The future is mutable! Go with the flow!"

No one even batted an eye when Pakkupati decided to take things a step further and adopt a surname, like a human. When asked why she chose Tims, she just shrugged.
❝I once met a human who was my height. His name was Tim.❞
That was the entirety of her explanation, and it was apparently good enough for her.

What did surprise people, however, was when Prioxx, top of his class at the College of Dynamics and her childhood friend, not only chose to marry her — but also took on her surname.

The same year they married, Pakkupati gave birth to their first daughter, Akkari, and the progenies just kept coming: four in total. Their son Milodazz arrived second, and because Prioxx had wanted one more daughter, their next surprise came. What they got instead was twins. Each of their children charted their own path: each enrolled in a different college — except for Meijakku, who opted out of academia entirely, in proud Tims family oddball fashion.

Pakkupati, to her own dismay, looks much younger than she is — some professors still mistake her for a new student, scolding her for her habit of doodling in the margins of high-level schematics. In truth, she and her husband have been on the move for the past decade: interpreting languages, mediating, appraising strange and magical items across Tyria. Prioxx made additional money through the satisfying precision of locksmithing — though he never did stop tinkering with unstable gadgets in his spare time, and had always been his wife's top lab partner.

Pakkupati eventually joined the Order of Whispers, with Prioxx Tims becoming her partner and Tybalt Leftpaw as their mentor.

Records from the Arcane Council Name: Pakkupati Tims Status: Former Sponsor: Zinga College of Synergetics Status: Complete Degree Awarded 1315 AE Notes: Pakkupati completed her basic degree in Synergetics after defending her thesis, "Theoretical Applications of Eternal Alchemy Feedback Loops in Pre-Spatial Continuums" before the Arcane Council. Her blueprints for the VAL-A golem, designed to handle menial daily tasks, got her accepted to all three colleges, and she wisely chose Synergetics. Interdisciplinary Arcane Synthesis Honorary Degree Awarded 1320 AE Notes: Bestowed by unanimous vote of the Arcane Council for "continued contributions to theoretical dimensional modeling across intercollegiate boundaries." Winner of the Snaff Award in 1325, earning her the Title of Snaff Savant.

Trivia:
  • Pakkupati can be best described as not taking life all that seriously and having autism level 1.
  • Her favourite foods are fruit, cream, and cheesecake. She does not dislike any food in particular, though prefers to leave alcohol to her husband.
  • She and much of her family are named after characters from Dungeon Meshi, also known as Delicious in Dungeon; specifically Chilchuck Tims' family. Instead of using Anglicised spellings, Hepburn romanization was used, as it generally fits in better with the Asuran naming conventions.
  • Originally, there was a 50-50% chance whether she would be called Pakkupati or Meijakku. In the end, I preferred Pakkupati simply due to the fact that it ends on "i" like some Asuran names.
  • Prioxx's player wanted to have twin daughters, and Meijakku and Furatomu are implied to be twins within the Dungeon Meshi series. Akkari is named after the Japanese word for red (aka | 朱), and Milodazz's name was inspired by the Japanese word for green (midori | 緑). Additionally, Prioxx's player was inspired by Milo Thatch from Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and liked how "Akari" can be written with 莉, meaning White Jasmine.
❥ Sinag Lavellan

Name
Sinag Lavellan
Identity
Non-binary Canthan Elf Ranger
Birthdate
12th of June 2025
Pronouns
ze/zim/zis || she/her || he/him
Relatives
Unknown Canthan parents
Familial
Matthew Cousland – boyfriend
Quinn – best friend

❝Hero of Shaemoor, Child of the Queen's Spies.❞

Sinag's parents came from the Mists, finding their first home in New Kaineng City, the sprawling metropolis of Cantha. Her mother was drawn to the spiritual — the quiet whispers that echoed through shrines, the incense-thick air of ancestor rituals, and the hidden ceremonies whispered of in back alleys and old tomes. Her father was a mystery whispered about in hushed tones: a wanderer with elongated ears that tapered subtly to a point, and eyes that could pierce your soul.

Their compassion for the spirits became rebellion against the Canthan isolationist regime, and so, they fled back into the Mists, staying there for several years, until finally returning to Tyria. Divinity's Reach welcomed them with open arms, and soon enough, they became heroes. Yet, they fell too soon.

Sinag Lavellan grew up on the streets of Divinity's Reach, always yearning to rise above the gutter life, and take her best friend and only family, Quinn, with her. No matter how well old lady Culligan's blackberry tarts were, no matter how many times Helen patched her up after she got into another fight with Dan, Sinag wanted more. And then, she became the Hero of Shaemoor.

Rapidly, her luck began to change. Captain Logan Thackeray became her friend. She was suddenly in high standing. But Quinn? He was still stuck, and Helen got so blinded by Two-Blade Pete that she changed her name into Doc Howler. She nearly lost him. Refusing to be alone once more, she put him over Divinity's Reach, and saved her only family, finally putting him on the right path.

Much like her parents, Sinag spent a lot of time within the Mists, learning how to channel the strange shimmer in her blood — traces of a Canthan lineage that was closer to the stars and an elven bloodline from beyond the Mists.

[ATTACK!] She felt [their] attack, and the world around it, and bent her will against it. The ball of power froze in midair, sparkling like a star — and it was effortless.

Eventually, she joined the Priory, with Sieran becoming her mentor.

Trivia:
  • Sinag is a tagalog word meaning rays or light (from sun, moon, stars).
  • Her in-game birthdate falls on Araw ng Kalayaan, the Phillipine's Independence Day.
❥ Calpurna Greywarden
❝The Wardens hold a lonely vigil, enduring lives of hardship and sacrifice to protect the world from evil. After all, some must fight, so that all may be free.❞

Name
Calpurrnia Greywarden
Alias
Calpurna Greywarden (in-game)
Purrnia Greywarden
Identity
Female Charr Guardian
Birthdate
10th of July 2025
Warband / Familial
Argus Foolkiller – sire
Alkmena Scorchtail – dam
Reeva Firstwarden – sparring partner
Elexus Shredskin – 'band grandma
Fyon the Wraith – 'band grandpa
Bashar Blightwarden – partner / ally
Dinky – Bashar's second-in-command

Calpurrnia is the offspring of an Ash Legion dam and a Blood Legion sire. Unlike many of her fellow cubs, however, she had spent much longer with her parents — until they couldn't find any excuses anymore as to why their darling daughter needed to stay with them and not be sent to a Fahrar camp like everyone else. Ripped from a loving home, she found herself in a large pack of fellow cubs trained to be legionnaires themselves. Calpurrnia hated the fahrar.

She was too soft, too small, too weak. But she still could outrun everyone, and was a mistress in dodging incoming attacks. Eventually, Calpurrnia earned her place through blood and grit, skinny as a bundle of sticks, but she finally gained some respect. Reeva became her closest ally, aiding her to learn more about unity and how they should define their own social structure within their warband.

Her sire's name had often been spoken with reverence in the fahrar, and so, she vowed to live up to his reputation — or exceed it. Off the field, she was blunt but loyal. On it, she was fury incarnate — gritty, practical, and always at the front. Despite being a woman in a legion still heavy with old traditions, Calpurrnia never asked for special treatment or used it as an excuse. She fought for every scrap of respect and carved out her authority one victory at a time. If anyone challenged her worth, Reeva was quick to challenge them with her sharp tongue — and if that didn't work, Calpurrnia had even sharper claws.

Calpurrnia, though ferocious, is also very charismatic and intelligent, having unwavering commitment to her ideals. She envisions a reformed Legion, free from the shackles of corruption and sexism, and thus formed a partnership with the Blight warband. Purrnia and Bashar cemented their personal commitment to each other by matching up their names once they became legionnaires — Blightwarden and Greywarden — while Reeva changed her name to Firstwarden.

As Purrnia's cubs and Reeva are quite the fans of baked goods, Purrnia has started to bake for them whenever she's stressed, with Bashar providing the heat through his fire magic. More often than not, it turns into a feast of butterscotch-cinnamon pie or key lime pie with whipped cream.

Eventually, she joined the Vigil, with dad becoming her mentor.

Trivia:
  • Calpurrnia's favourite tea flavours are mint and catnip, while her favourite baked goods are Galatopita, Kreatopita, Karidopita, and Tyropitakia.
  • She was originally intended to be a revenant and use the legendary renegade stance — this idea was scrapped, however, once I learnt that renegades cannot use racial abilities.
  • As a cat, she enjoys chilling on a rooftops watching the moon, and tends to leave fur stuck in the drain of the kitchen sink.
  • Calpurrnia has a daughter named Cirilotte, who calls her "Nyanya" and Bashar "Pawpaw". They secretly dote on her in the fahrar.
