Everything you have is correct, but "mate" is also inspired by "primate" which is a class of animals that monkeys are part of.
Lenny is a funny one. Originally Spirit City was going to be an adventure game, where the player would take photos of things with a magic camera. Lenny would actually turn into that camera.
So their name was a play on the word "Lens". Even though we didn't create that game, the name stuck!
