By Sarstan
Marked bills. No automated way of clearing them out. Let me show you the way I go through bills to make sure they're all unmarked!

A Quick Word
Welcome to my guide on clearing marked bills! A quick preface. This is the method I've found myself using and works best for me. You may have a better way or like doing something different. And that's cool! I just wanted to share what gets me moving piles of cash in seconds instead of fanning out stacks of what turns out to be completely unmarked bills. I'm also super sensitive and will cry and you'll feel bad if you say my method sucks. So don't be mean! Haha, that aside, I strongly encourage sharing how you do it and any tips in the process!
What You Need!

What you need is honestly pretty simple.
- Money to check (of course!)
- a cleared spot to check the bills
- A UV light (the stationary is obviously nicer, but the handheld works great still)
- Night time and nearby lights off

A big issue in the game (at least as of writing) is finding a good spot to check for marks. I've tried a few places and really it seems just about any corner or places like in the vault work better, but in theory you can do this anywhere. I personally have settled next to the incinerator (with it off ideally), just with how I have everything else setup.
You'll see I have a pallet and some other things here. You don't NEED a pallet, but having some sort of container to put in bills that have been checked can save you from a lot of headache of dropping checked bills too close and now they're mixed with unchecked.

As far as night time, seriously don't waste your time doing this during the day. It's possible to see the marks, but you'll just strain your eyes doing it. Set yourself down on the seat and wait until the evening. As far as I can tell, time passing doesn't matter other than specific jobs with a time limit that starts when you accept that mission.
So What's The Method?
Okay, let's do it!
Go to your pile and grab 100 bills (hold left click over the pile).

Next move to a clear spot and drop the bills. This will let you see nearly all of the bills pretty easily and marks will stick out like crazy! We don't have any in this pile though.

Third, pick up the pile of bills loosely (hold shift and right click).

And toss the pile back down. You now have the bills mixed up a bit and will have another view.

At this point you'll have had two decent views of the money as well as all the animation of the drops to spot any bright red marks. The jobs tend to either have none or have quite a few in them at a time, something to keep in mind, but I personally like to do this method with all bills regardless. From here, just grab the checked pile and throw it in your clean pile or pallet like I have.
When I get into a groove, it takes me just a few second to grab, toss the bills down, grab and toss them again, then throw them into the pallet. Really fast!

Yeah, Sarstan. You don't have an example with marked bills. Stupid guide!
Okay, let me throw in a single marked bill. Can you spot it?

Pretty easy to see, right? And with the pile of 100 or less, you can grab individual bills. And if you're uncertain, just pick it up and throw it again. The pile will be mixed up.

You should get a decent chance to check most bills on that first drop. But you don't want to rely on it alone since there are marks that don't reach the edge of the bill.
A Small Tip To Add
If you pick up the bills individually and/or grab 100 bills at a time from a pile (again, holding left click on a pile), you can drop individual bills by the "discard single button" (X by default). Many people like to fan out bills by holding this down and moving their aim sideways steadily. But this is really useful when you know you have a couple of marked bills and want to separate it. Just press X to drop it to the side and then move back over to your clean stack.

Or like I did here, drop it enough that it's very easy to pickup in a bit. This can be really helpful if you tried to grab the marked and got a few clear ones in the process.

I used the stationary UV lamp in the example, but the handheld works great at spotting marks too, so don't feel like you have to wait until later to start doing this.

Final Thoughts
There's a lot of ways to do this, but I hope this helps some people do something other than fanning everything out, which is much more time consuming. And I hope to hear how others do it and maybe even spark some ideas for others to come up with a better concept!

Oh, one other thing I thought should be obvious: this doesn't consider counterfeit bills. You CAN use this method for that I suppose, but I'm assuming you're using a non-starter sorter, all of which filter out counterfeits. In fact I take all bills I get and do this first, then take them to the Money Counter XXL and let it do all the sorting for me from here. Seems better than sorting everything first then checking them.

Either way, thanks for reading and happy cleaning!
