💥 Kislev Armored Kossars – Blunderbuss Unit 💥
"The last thing they'll hear is thunder."

Unleash the fury of black powder with the Armored Kossars (Blunderbuss Unit) — a Tier 2 close quarters missile infantry unit to shred enemy ranks at close range. Armored and moderately durable in melee, these units bring devastating area firepower to Kislev's roster, excelling in tight spaces and brutal defenses.

🔹 Unit Summary:
Role: Armored Short-Range Ranged / Hybrid Infantry

Tier 2 Unit: (requires minor settlement Tier 3)

Combat Style: Point-blank blunderbuss volleys followed by frontline support

🟢 Strengths:
Massive close-range damage – ideal for ambushes, chokepoints, and defensive positions

Armored and melee-capable – can stand its ground after firing

Minor settlement access - makes it valuable from the mid game

Shock potential – devastating against clustered, unarmored foes

🔴 Weaknesses:
Very short effective range – must be dangerously close to engage

Slow movement speed – poor at repositioning or escaping threats

Low accuracy and high spread – struggles to hit small or fast-moving targets

Friendly fire risk – careless placement near allies can backfire


🧠 Tactical Tips:
Position these units behind frontline tanks or hybrid infantry to maximize their devastating blast potential. Use terrain and chokepoints to funnel enemies into kill zones. Avoid sending them unsupported — their slow speed and limited range make them vulnerable if caught out of formation.

Control their fire arcs carefully — their inaccurate, wide-spread shots can just as easily hit your own troops if misused.

✅ Performance Optimization:
• Reduced icon resolution to prevent FPS drops caused by overly high-quality assets.

🔻 Balance Change – Nerf:
Missile Weapon Armor-Piercing Damage: Reduced from 27 → 25 to maintain balance and reinforce intended unit role.

Wonderful mod, but I did notice a problem, when you hover over the units and they light up, it causes massive frame drops, like 10-5 fps. As disclosure I do the the Reloading Animations and Extreme Smoke and Flash Fix mods enabled. I did disable them although its still finicky. Another thing, I noticed due to the knockback the blunderbusses do, the enemies are forced into ragdoll, and as far as I'm aware, they become invincible during that, causing them to deal less dmg that they should.

loving your work! A gryphon legion unit with some sort or bayonet gun would be a cool concept if you are planning more kislev gunners

Hi @KarlFooknTanner – you're absolutely right! Boomsticks are strong! so I’ve given them a slight debuff. They're now weaker than the vanilla default, but thanks to their decent melee stats and armor, they still hold their own in the right hands.

Hi @EnumaEllis and @Consaibot1 – I’ve put together a collection so you can easily follow my updates. I don’t have a ton in there just yet, but I’m actively working on some cool new units. More to come soon!

Can you thorw this and the other rifleman mod into one collection? People who are looknig for more higher-end ranged Kislev units will want both of them anyway, no point splitting them up :)

ALso, looking forward to whoever making an SFO compatch ;)

Awesome unit. Boomsticks fook up all the evil dead with the massive firepower. As long as the unit is not OP, it is fine.
