I've seen a lot of people stuck on how to beat the nights in FNaF 2, how the animatronics work, etc. So what do I do to fix it? I make a guide that is basically a dump of everything I know and hope you understand how to use the info correcly. Have fun.

Hi all,

I wrote this guide when I was... 14 or 15? There's gonna be a lot of cringe! Oh, and the format isn't the greatest.

Anyways, I've given this guide a quick runthrough as of May 2023 and updated some wrong info, though to keep the same style, I'll just cross out OUTDATED with an explanation at the bottom. Good luck!
Toy Animatronics
The toy animatronics have one thing in common (except for Toy Freddy), and that is that they attack like the old animatronics from the first game. They get in through your office via blind spots if you don't do anything to stop them, and once inside, they will kill you once you lower the camera.
Toy Bonnie
Toy Bonnie has a very simple pattern. He will start at the Show Stage, like the other Toy animatronics, then move to Party Room 3. Then, he moves to Party Room 4, then P.R 2, then the Right Air Vent, where he will then pop up in your blind spot. Once you see him there, just put on the mask, he will slide across your screen, and reset. The happy end.

In short: Party Room 3 -> P.R 4 -> P.R 2 -> Right Air Vent -> Office -> Repeat

Toy Bonnie's path is linear, meaning he will not go back to other rooms until he resets.

Toy Bonnie might, on occasion, (at least in my experiences) not do his animation, so if he takes a long time, take your mask off and check if he is still there.

2023 Update: I've yet to again see him disappear without doing his animation. I swear I've had this happen to me, but take what I said at the end with a grain of salt.
Toy Chica
Toy Chica is similar to Toy Bonnie, sort of kind of not. Toy Chica starts in the Show Stage, and will then move to the Main Hall. From here, she will go to your hallway, then either go into Party Room 4 or 1. From Party Room 4, she will move to Party Room 1, from P.R 1, she will move to the Left Air vent. From there, she will go to your blind spot, when you see her there, just put on the mask and wait until you hear vent sounds. Toy Chica does NOT have an animation, so don't wait for it.

Toy Chica may backtrack when going to your office.

Toy Chica may be stuck in the Main Hall on later nights due to Foxy taking up her spot in the hallway.

Toy Chica CANNOT attack you from the hallway, so don't bother doing anything there
Toy Freddy
Toy Freddy has a very simple attack pattern. He starts out in the Show Stage, then goes to the Game Area. After that, he goes directly to your hallway, standing at the far end of it. He will eventually move on to your doorway, then inside your office, where he will kill you if you don't put on the mask within a second.

Toy Freddy may wander back to the Show Stage.

Putting on your mask when Toy Freddy is in the doorway might ward him off.
Mangle
This thing is the least of my worries. It starts out in Kid's Cove, will go to the Prize Corner, then Game Area, Main Hall, other hallway outside your office (which isn't called the Main Hallway for Freddy knows what reason), Party Room 2, Right Air vent, from here, it may go to your blind spot, causing its annoying noise. When you hear the noise, if Mangle is not in your camera view, just put the mask on and wait for it to go away. If it gets into your office, it will spider-hang above you, and may randomly kill you when you pull the monitor down.

Mangle will move up and reveal its endoskeleton eyes if Foxy is also in the hallway, this doesn't change its behavior though, at least by what I've seen. [2023 Update: Yeah, it doesn't change its behavior at all]
Old Animatronics
The old animatronics are back (or downgraded, depending on yor view of when this game takes place), and they are still hungry for flesh, or uh, endoskeletons I guess. The old animatronics will, more often than not, be the causes of your death.
Bonnie
Bonnie will start in the Parts and Services room, then go to the Main Hall, go to your hallway, then move to Party Room 1. After that, he will go through your Left Air vent, eventually ending up in your office in front of you. When he is there, you have a second to put the mask on, else he will kill you. After you fend him off, he will reset to a random room other than Parts and Services and the Left Air Vent (most likely the Main Hall).

Bonnie will SKIP your blind spot, so don't worry about looking for him there.

When Bonnie is in your Air Vent, start putting the mask on as soon as you pull down the monitor unless you have AMAZING reaction time.

Bonnie may pull down the monitor if he is in the room, be ready.
Chica
Le girly girl with the infamous mouth has been creep-ierized. Chica will start in the Parts and Services room, then move to Party Room 4, 2, and then the Right Air vent, going to your office in front of you. Like all the animatronics that do this, you will have one second to put on the mask before immediate upgradation. After this, she will reset to Party Room 4.

Be prepared to put on the mask at any time when she is in the Right Air vent. People with low reaction times may want to just throw it down real quick anytime they exit the camera.

Chica will completely SKIP the blind spot, don't bother.

Chica may put down the monitor if she is in the room, be ready.
Freddy
Freddy follows a linear pattern to your office. Freddy will start in the Parts and Services room, then move to the Main Hall. From here, he may move to Party Room 3, staring into the camera or the hallway in front of your office, where he will be in the doorway. From the doorway, he will move into your office, giving you a second to put the mask on before you get stuffed into him.

Be ready for Freddy, he may pull down your monitor if he is in your room.
Foxy
This guy. Foxy is just as annoying in this game as he is in the first game, and he will kill you just as often. Foxy seems to start in Parts and Services, and will then move directly to the hallway in front of you. From here, you have a limited amount of time to shine a few lights at him, and continue with your affairs. In higher A.I levels, you may need to flash him as much as 5 times everytime you pull the monitor down. Foxy may be seen back in the Parts and Services room if all the animatronics have left

Foxy will skip your office completely.

Foxy will ignore your mask.

Foxy's "timer" seems to speed up if you have the mask on, so be careful.
2023 Update: Nope! It just really seems this way. The timer does not care about your mask, only how often you shine your light at him. Of course, you can't shine your light if you have the mask on...
What IS true is that Foxy gets more aggressive if there's no animatronics in your office. He'll mellow out a bit if someone's harassing you.
Special Animatronics
Nuisances and dynamics to put an end to your night quicker.
Ballon Boy
Dis guy tho. Balloon Boy will start in the Game area, and move DIRECTLY to your Left Air vent like the bundle of sticks he is (he may not immediately appear there, during this limbo time he will be nowhere in the pizzeria. Spooky). From here, he will move to the blind spot, where you will need to put on the mask for a LONG time. If he gets into your room, it's gg. He doesn't kill you, but he disables all your lights, leaving you as basic Foxy bait. You may survive if you are in the late hours of 5 AM or on earlier nights, though. After you ward him off, he will dissapoear and go back to your vent when he feels like ******* you over again.

Balloon Boy will stay in your blind spot the longest of all the animatronics, usually for 5 seconds on high levels.

Those "hello"s and "hi"s you hear are from the Balloon Boy and the Balloon Boy alone, he is the only animatronic to make human, non-distorted noises.
The Marionette
The Marionette or Puppet or whatever the heck it's called is the main thing keeping you from staying in your mask all game. Basically, he won't do jack crapadoodle-doo through the night unless you forget to do basically the first thing the Phone Guy tells you, WIND UP THE MUSIC BOX. If the song is about to end, you will get an orange warning signal next to Cam 11 or in the bottom right corner if you are in or out of the camera, respectively. When this signal switches to a red color, it means the song has ended and you need to re-wind the box ASAP or say bye to your alive-ness. How long the red signal stays before the marionettte is released depends on what night you're on, obviously you having less and less time as the nights progress.

The Marionette will ignore your mask and get you whether you are in it or out of it, so unless you're really close to 6 AM, it's gg no re for that night.

The Marionette will appear in the Main Hall as various hallucinations if it get out. Try it out. Or don't. Don't scroo up yer K/D ratio m8
Golden Freddy
I ain't even gonna say anything for this guy other than the facts.

Dis guy doesn't start out anywhere, he gonna snatch yo kids and wife whenever he feels like it.

If you see a floating head in the hallway, TURN DAT FLASHLIGHT OFF

If dis boy gets INTO your office, you have LESS THAN .6 SECONDS to put the mask on.

You don't need to wait for him to fade away when he is in your office, you just need to put your mask on and you can immediately take it off if you would like, assuming you did it in time.

2023 Update: Yeah, cringe, but mostly accurate! If Golden Freddy is in the hallway, don't shine your light at him or he'll attack you. If he's in your office, he'll attack you if you don't put your mask on very quickly. He can only enter your office while your cameras are up, though, so just make a habit of putting your mask on everytime you lower your cameras.

Oh, and another fun thing: Golden Freddy does not only appear on Night 6, contrary to popular belief. While Night 6 is indeed his main appearance outside of the Custom Night (he's guaranteed to be active on Night 6), there is a 1/1000 chance left over in the game's code for Golden Freddy to be active at AI Level 1 past 1 AM on Night 2 and only Night 2. I've never seen this happen, but you should definitely be prepared for it.
Bonus Section
On everything else, such as hallucinations, you may encounter in your night.

"Ballon Girl"
A balloon boy look-alike that may spawn under your desk. Can't do anything other than make you spooked. Not Balloon Boy, as she has a different eye color, nose color and scheme, and hat color scheme.

Bare Endoskeleton
May "spawn" in the Prize Corner after the Marionette leaves. May also be in your Left Air Vent (even if the Marionette is not out to get you). It does not attack you.

"Shadow Bonnie"
May spawn in the left side of your office very rarely (1/1,000,000). When you see it there, put the mask on or pull up your monitor, or it may crash your game. Does not have a jumpscare.

"Shadow Freddy"
May spawn in the Parts and Services room after all the old animatronics leave. Not switching or pulling down the camera will cause your game to crash. Does not have a jumpscare.

"Purple Man"
If you die, and the "SAVETHEM" minigame happens, there is a very rare chance that the purple man will spawn in the room you go to, walk towards you, and crash your game. Blue static will show up with "you can't" written in the bottom.
Reader tips
"You also may want to make the habit of putting on the Freddy Mask and not check the monitor for extended periods of time, as this can save you on later nights."

"The trick to Foxy Foxy, is dont check the left vent or the right vent, those are time wasters, the mangle gives an audio que when she is in your blind spot. Follow the pattern: Flash Foxy x2, wind music box, listen for mangle, repeat."

BONUS TIP: If you flash your light on an animatronic in the cameras, they will be briefly stunned and not move for a few seconds.
One more thing...
This will really help a lot of new players, so much it's being all caps bolded and underlined.

THE ONLY 2 ANIMATRONICS THAT CAN GET YOU DIRECTLY FROM THE HALLWAY ARE GOLDEN FREDDY AND FOXY.

Puppet has a movement interval every second when the box is unwound, and as the AI level never goes higher than 15, it's theoretically (albeit EXTREMELY unlikely) that you can survive without ever touching the music box.

Foxy DOES get more aggressive if you have the mask on unnecessarily (no blackout and no animatronics in the vent blind spot, Toy Freddy in the hallway DOES NOT count even though he can go away from there.) In addition, he only checks for whether or not his timer is low enough on five second intervals, so you can just use a timer and never die to Foxy. Blackouts also freeze his timer completely.

Your having Toy Bonnie leave without his animation might have been a bug with the game thinking he'd had an attack during another animatronic's blackout even without one.
