Before a new Fractal Space | Demo update becomes publicly live, it will usually be in BETA for a few days or 1-2 weeks.

If you wish to help test it before it becomes public for all players, you can do so by switching Fractal Space | Demo (not Fractal Space) to the beta branch using the steps below.

• The Demo does not share saved game data with the Pre-Alpha - they use separate saves
  
• Debug Mode is not available in the Demo, nor the Demo beta branch
  
• You cannot report bugs from the Demo, nor the Demo beta branch
  
• If you find bugs, please directly report on Discord and ping Charles [Haze Games], or try to reproduce them in Pre-Alpha and report in-game with ALT+B
  
• In theory, all bugs found in the demo, should also be present in the Pre-Alpha, and vice-versa. So, it's fine to test the "Demo" by playing New Game, Chapter 1, in the Pre-Alpha instead, to easily report bugs

First, you need to add the Demo to your Steam Library:

• Get Fractal Space Demo
  
• Optional: You can install the default public version first

Follow the steps below in order to switch Fractal Space | Demo to beta branch.
Make sure Fractal Space | Demo is NOT RUNNING before switching branches!

Open Steam Properties for Fractal Space | Demo:

• Right Click on Fractal Space | Demo in your Steam library
  
• Select Properties...

In Fractal Space | Demo's Properties window:

• On the left side, select the Betas tab
  
• In the Private Betas field, input the code: fractaldemobeta
  
• Click the Check Code button

Now that the beta branch is unlocked, you can:

• Simply click on the large blue button describing the beta branch information
  
• Or, you can use the Beta Participation dropdown, and switch from None to beta

After doing one of the options above, Beta Participation will show beta instead of None, and the latest BETA version of Fractal Space | Demo will start downloading:



In your Steam Library, it will also display that you are currently on beta branch:

When you have finished testing the BETA version, you can repeat the previous steps, and select None instead of beta, to return to the publicly available version of the Demo:

• Click the beta label below Selected Version next to the Play button
  
  
• Click the Beta Participation dropdown, and select None:
  

Steam will automatically start downloading the latest default branch build of Fractal Space | Demo, publicly accessible to all players.
