Sudden Death Achievement Guide
By Boneless
If you've played this game for a while, you'll notice that sudden deaths are very rare without adjusting the settings as there is usually someone far in the lead. Actually winning them when there are harder AI or more than 2 players is also a toss up that can result in an unfavorable outcome. So here's a guide to make this achievement not take 100+ hours to get.

The Easy Way
This will still take a while, but this is the easiest way I've found to do it.

1. Use custom mode. You need this to mess with the settings. If you don't have this unlocked, you will need to play races as normal until you do.

2. The most important part is setting the points to win requirement to 3000 to make this quicker than the default 4000.

3. Turn off every item weapon except for the booster (and optionally hammer if you still need that achievement, but turn it off after).

4. Set the AI to 1 and easy or medium difficulty.

5. Turn off track hazards such as the tesla coil, ice, crusher, swinging bags, barriers, and anything else that tends to kill frequently, but be sure to keep boost panels on. This helps speed the game up and gives you progress toward the boost achievement if you need that.

6. Choose a car with good handling like the Raven or one of the non-milk truck DLC cars.

7. Start the race.

8. Pay attention to your score and your opponent's score. If there is ever more than a 100 point gap, you need to get rid of the gap by making sure that either you or your opponent doesn't finish the checkpoints depending on who is higher until they are closer together again. If it's you, this is easily done by either not touching any buttons or purposely driving off the side of the level. If it's your opponent, you will need to make sure they get shoved off or left behind since you should mainly be getting boost items.

9. Finish the normal race. Don't forget that whoever reaches the finish line first gets an additional 100 points beyond the points for finishing, so be sure to win if you need the points or let your opponent win if they are behind by 100.

10. If you only have boost items as suggested earlier, this should be an easy win in sudden death since medium and below AI not only have a slower speed than you, but they also boost slower. Not having track hazards enabled also gives you a lower chance of accidentally getting knocked off at the last moment. May or may not have happened to me several times.

Good luck, gamers!

It's probably faster to play against multiple bots because more track gets laid per round, which means you earn more points per round. Also Medium bots are better than easy bots because it is painful waiting for the medium bots to catch up all the time. You only need to tie with one of the bots, and sometimes the medium bots can beat you for a few checkpoints.

Not mentioned in the guide, but it is recommended to try to put long straight pieces near the start so sudden death is easier. Sudden death removes walls even if you had them enabled, so you might accidentally boost off the stage if you have a curved track piece early on.

It doesn't show progress on Steam, but you can see your progress on C:\Users\[whatever your user is]\AppData\LocalLow\Ice BEAM\Make Way\save.ibg. That file shows your progress on all achievements.

Do you know if the Unbeatable Winner trophy is bugged?
