Hunted Misc Game Issue Fixes
By XaivierX
Randomly crashing out while playing? Yeah, that's no fun.
Make it to chapter 4, but stuck in a cut scene loop? Yeah, that's no fun, either.

Let's fix that!

Fix Random Crashes
I've run into random crashes in the game, seeming as though it can happen every half hour to an hour of playing. It was a problem, especially since the game was fun enough, but the save points are spaced out in the levels.

This fix applies to NVIDIA cards, but there may be equivalent settings on others.

First, start by opening your NVIDIA Control Panel and selecting 'Manage 3D Settings' under the '3D Settings' item.

Select the 'Program Settings' tab within 'Manage 3D Settings' screen.

Press 'Add' to select the game (p4dftre.dll.exe). If you played the game recently, it should be available in the list. If you haven't just boot up the game quickly first and come back to the control panel.

Next, set the following under the 'Specify the settings for this program' area:

1. OpenGL redering GPU -> Set this to your specific video card.
2. Preferred refresh rate -> Application-controlled
3. Threaded optimisation -> Off

Press 'Apply' at the bottom to save your changes, then reload the game.

I'm suspicious that it's item #3 (Threaded optimisation) that fixes the issue, but I'm not too interested in spending extended time testing the changes.

Hopefully, after these settings updates, the game won't crash on you!

At the times I thought the game would crash, it may have hiccuped for a second or two, but then came back, instead of just freezing up completely.

Did it fix your problem? Let me know!

Happy playing!

Fix Chapter 4 Cut-scene Loop
Plow your way through the game, only to be halted by a conversation with the king?

...
Yeah, that's not cool.

Fix: Limit your FPS for the game to 60fps max, then restart the game.
For NVIDIA cards, In the NVIDIA control panel, set the 'Max frame rate' value to 60 for the game. Other video cards should have a FPS limiter option as well.

After you are able to get through the cut-scene and on to the next area, you can set your FPS to your desired frame rate and restart.

Note: If you are playing multiplayer, both players must do this, otherwise it will keep looping.
Make the game a little sharper looking
Not a game issue, but heck, why not give you a little bonus?

Did you know that you can enhance the Anti-aliasing and Anisotropic filtering on the game?

Well, with the NVIDIA control panel, you can! Make that game a little smoother and a little crisper.

Settings:
Just as before, set up a Program profile for the game in the Manage 3D Settings of your control panel.

Then, set the following, adjust for the power of your pc / graphics card.

Anisotropic filtering -> (desired value - higher is better for quality) (16x)
Antialiasing - FXAA -> On
Antialiasing - Mode -> Enhance the application setting
Antialiasing - Setting -> (desired value - higher is better for quality) (8x)
Antialiasing - Transparency -> (desired value - higher is better for quality) (8x (supersample))
Multi-Frame Sampled AA (MFAA) -> On
Texture filtering - Aniotropic sample optimization -> Off
Texture filtering - Quality -> High Quality
Texture filtering - Trilinear optimisation -> On

On my i7-8700, and GTX 1080ti, I can max these settings without it affecting the perceived frame rate for the game.
