Step 1:
Download the optimisation mod- 'LUMEN BEGONE - Disable RT for better Performance'

On May 5th 2025 Digital Foundry tested the mentioned P40L0X mod and found negligible improvements showing the mod currently doesn't improve performance so I have updated the guide to omit the inclusion of this mod.
However, DF isn't the 'be all, end all' and some people HAVE reported positive impacts on performance so I have kept the original text and links for archival reasons and so anyone reading this can try them out if they are interested.

When you click on the Files tab of this mod, you will see a file labelled 'Lumen Begone'. This is the file you download.

When you click on the Files tab of this mod, you will see a file labelled 'Lumen Begone Ultimate Engine Tweaks Bundle'.
This mod includes HerrTiso's[next.nexusmods.com] mod that removes the forced RT or Ray-Tracing from the game as there is currently no in-game way to do so and it eats your FPS like no one's business.
It also includes P40L0X's [next.nexusmods.com]UE5 Engine tweaks that make the game play SIGNIFICANTLY smoother and optimises how the game runs.

Installing the Mod

Once you have extracted the file, make sure you have booted up the game at least once, then simply go to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\Config\Windows and paste it in there and DONE! You're game is now sorted and will run miles better than it did before.

This wouldn't be possible without the listed Mod Authors so please go give them your thanks, they deserve it.
Additional Info:
My Specs
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU
  • 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12500H Processor
  • 32GB RAM
  • 4GB VRAM

My In-Game Settings
  • Window Mode- Fullscreen
  • Resolution- 1920x1080
  • VSync- Off
  • Frame Rate Limit- Uncapped (Capped at 60fps using NVIDIA Control Panel)
  • FOV 1st Person and 3rd Person- 95
  • Motion Blur- Off
  • SSR- Off
  • View Distance Quality- Medium
  • Effects Quality- Medium
  • Foliage Quality- Medium
  • Shadow Quality- Medium
  • GI Quality- Low
  • Texture Quality- Medium
  • Reflection Quality- Low
  • Post-Processing Quality- Medium
  • Hair Quality- Medium
  • Cloth Quality- Medium
  • Lumen Hardware RT- Off
  • Lumen Software RT Quality- Low
  • Upscaling Technique- DLSS
  • DLSS Mode- Balanced
  • DLSS Sharpness- 0.25
  • Nvidia Reflex- Enabled

I have found that the largest drain on FPS is the 'Global Illumination Quality' setting. If you need additional frames then this is your first setting to decrease.
If you are using NVIDIA DLSS and have Global Illumination on any setting HIGHER than Low then you will unfortunately have a ton of foliage shimmering. There currently isn't a fix for this.

If you still need additional frames, reduce Shadow Quality, View Distance Quality, and Effects Quality.

Disabling all forms of autosaves has been reported as also having a positive effect on performance.

Heres the link to the Special K tool.
https://special-k.info/

It's used to optimize and change various things in games and can even analyze the rendering data and such.

So if you tab to the graphics settings and it takes you like 3 seconds to load, its cuz its being blocked from accessing the config.ini which is in your documents folder, and protected.

I suggest adding a exclusion to protected folders for the game, Windows defender has been getting nasty with blocking your game files.

@S3MORPEN surprisingly I was getting 60fps+ on medium/high settings with DLSS, I'd play more but I already have 125 hours on PS5 haha

I see you have around 32 hours in Cyberpunk. With your specs, you'd probably be getting only about 30–40 FPS on low to medium settings, right?

@S3MORPEN I can't say 100% since it will vary from device to device depending on a specific device's set up even if they have identical specs, but with the graphics settings and mods mentioned above you while using DLSS you should get 60fps indoors, but unfortunately outdoors it'll range from 30-60 and might even dip lower depending on the intensity of the action. Even on the best hardware money can buy there is still abhorrent frame hitching and fps spikes so performance is entirely random

Model Number: GF63 Thin 11UC-1490IN
Processor: i5-11260H( 6 Cores / 12 Threads )
Dedicated Graphics Card: RTX 3050 4 GB Mobile
Ram : 16 GB (3200MHz)
Refresh Rate: 144hz

These are my specs: with the same graphics settings as mentioned above and with the mod installed, how much FPS can I expect—especially during open-world exploration in vegetation-heavy areas and intense combat situations?

In Abiotic Factor on DX11 mode, the performance is horrible for users using that API.
But if you use DXVK for the dx11 version, for some odd reason it runs almost as smooth as dx12 mode.

As well, as causing a bug that causes game crashes if you use a different API with dxvk installed, so only use DXVK by itself or delete it if you switch to avoid conflicts.

DXVK doesn't seem to like it if you installed multiple version of itself, probably conflicting with itself.

@mindnumb2078 that's brutal I'm sorry to hear that, I think the best substitute would be disabling autosaves and just spamming the quicksave or manual save feature, or keeping autosave and manually deleting any extra once they get too many. Hope it doesn't crash again for you! It sucks how many problems this game has

@AlexSeby happy to be of help! but I'm just a messenger, all the credit goes to the absolute wizards who were able to make these patches/mods
