Oblivion "Remastered" Modding Guide (WIP)
By Drake Platinum THE WORLD
So they decided to give us Oblivion in a UE5 wrapper? We just couldn't have Creation 2.0? Sigh here we go again.

Prelude
So considering the game just came out. Expect 3 things out of this modding guide.

1. This is subject to extreme change just like my other WIP guides (ie. Starfield & BG3).

2. There most likely isn't going to be much not right now and not for some time. Gotta give both the mod authors time to work and also the community to test + figure out the guts of the game.(There is a script extender out already so I do have high hopes for a great turnaround but I don't expect Starfield level progression due to how this game is split into using both UE5 (ugh) and the original Gamebyro engine variant used in oblivion.

What does that mean? That duct taped rendition of the engine (I love Gamebyro but the oblivion version of that engine is honestly trash) is now going to be even more quirky and have unreal levels of phuchery involved. I've personally never dealt with a game doing this before and I'm sure this is a first for others. Expect weird stuff to happen. If you aren't about that trial and error please stick to vanilla, don't play for a hot minute or go play the original game with My modding guide

3. Again its super early so for now there is no mod manager and this will be purely manual modding. Don't expect this to change until NMM updates to have mod support for the game (it took like maybe 3-4 months for this to happen with SF for reference). There is NMM support now.

As always when it comes to my WIP guides feel free to chime in on any details I may have missed or do not know about. And even suggest mods whether they are new or ports of mods from my previous guide. My goal is to essentially emulate what I have done for My OG Oblivion Modding Guide in which we fix bugs, stabilize the title, expand on vanilla storylines, overhaul archaic aspects of the game (leveling, combat, clunkiness unwanted mechanics etc.) and basically do our best to polish oblivion into the diamond it can be.

Oh and seriously bethesda be real its a Remake not a Remaster.
Requirements
So as usual you will require a copy of the game (stick to standard variants for mods unless you also have the deluxe edition dlc like I do). This guide is built around windows 10 & game version 0.411.140.0

You'll need an unzipping tool for manual mods as not every mod will be MM compliant. I use winrar[www.win-rar.com] but many people prefer 7zip as usual use what you prefer. And of course you'll need a mod manager. Now most people today will use Vortex or MO2. I personally cannot recommend either even if the general population rides it. I understand why people may want to use those other two managers specifically as they don't touch your data folder unlike NMM that actually installs the mods into your folder but I personally think thats where problems arise and if you know what you are doing you'll never need to worry about that. I have used Nexus Mod Manager[github.com] for nearly a decade on many games not just bethesda titles and with very little to no issues. I cannot say the same for the other two managers with my personal experiences. It is also a common misconception that NMM is abandoned as it gets community updates regularly. Use what you prefer of course but I cannot help you troubleshoot very well if you use Vortex (which is probably the worst thing to use other than like FOMM) or MO2.

Alongside that stuff you'll want to grab LOOT[loot.github.io] especially if your planning on heavy load orders. I generally will sort using loot and then manually move anything that needs to sit anywhere specifically. This tool works with all bethesda titles so its pretty damn useful. Use after finishing your load order and then move any specific esps as needed.

Finally you'll need a nexus account so you can download the mods on there. Nexus website for Oblivion Remastered[www.nexusmods.com]

Rule of thumb if I do not tell you to install manually assume to install via NMM.

I'll do my best to keep this guide updated if any mod becomes outdated and i haven't tweaked feel free to notify me. Whenever you download a mod whether its from this guide or on your own volition check the requirements and make sure you meet them ahead of time as some of these essential mods require files that aren't on nexus but they will give you a download link.
1. OBSE64
As usual with any bethesda title we need that glorious script extender. So Click here[www.nexusmods.com] and download the latest version. Afterwards unzip that bhad boi and open the folder. Drop the .dll and exe into Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64. From here on out launch the game via obse64_loader.exe. If you do want to run it through steam please add this to your launch options

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64\obse64_loader.exe" -- %command%

(alter whatever drive the game is in if its not in your C drive)
2. Essential Performance & Bug Fix Mods
So currently I have yet to run into any mods that really should be in this section other then one I am currently eyeing but obviously its not going on here until I even bother testing it.

Baka Achievement Enabler[www.nexusmods.com]
Install Manually by unzipping and dropping the entire folder into your game directory.
So not really a performance/BF mod but typically modding will disable achievements so better to be safe than sorry and nip this in the butt right now. (Currently NMM installs this into the wrong location so avoid using it to install this)
3. QOL Mods
Optional QOL mods that will either make the game look better or overhaul game mechanics.

Unleveled Item Rewards[www.nexusmods.com]
This mod basically gets rid of that annoying feature where everything scales to your level so now you don't have to put off certain quests when you are low level to avoid ruining your loot rewards.

No More Repairing - No Armor or Weapon Durability Damage[www.nexusmods.com]
They got rid of this mechanic back in 11' I personally don't care for it. So for me its essential. Word on the street is this prevents heavy and light armor from leveling up though.

Weightless Alchemy and Misc. Items[www.nexusmods.com]
The mod is self explanatory and for us pack rats essential.

Playstation layout prompt enabler - DS5-PS5[www.nexusmods.com]
Install Manually by dropping the unzipped file in Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\Config\Windows. For my Dualsense breathren. I know the game has dualsense support but it sucks. Little to no haptic feedback and the game does not really take advantage of the features as good as it should. With this you can use something like DSX to emulate 360 or ps4 and still get full blown haptics and set your ATs to whatever you want.

High Quality 4K World Map[www.nexusmods.com]
Install Manually by unzipping the folder into your main game directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered. Scrapes a little crust off that world map.
Wrap up
Wasn't kidding when I said this guide is going to be barebones for a while. Like I said before feel free to recommend mods. Whether new, old, or anything ported that's similar to something from the OG Oblivion modding guide. I look forward to this journey and here's hoping this modding guide can match or even surpass the OG.
