The guide is written from the perspective of a ranger character.
Specific ranged-based combat and techniques will be displayed in this kind of textbox.
Stormtouched Highlands
Be sure to stock up on healing potions before risking the constant lighting attacks of the Stormtouched Highlands. They'll also come in handy as you venture through the vault which is full of fire traps and hazards.
  • Weak Healing Potion - combine a clay vessel, redberrry and harralander in a Brewing Cauldron.
  • Healing Potion - combine a clay vessel, 2 dwellberries and a snapdragon in a Brewing Cauldron.
When ready, head on over to the Stormtouched region. The vault is hidden deep under the mountain.

The entrance is in a cave outside the large camp, nestled behind some thorny vine.

Hack through, light your torch and head inside. Past the nodes of iron you'll come to a large destructible rock. Time to pull out your new shiny iron pickaxe, or use your Rockplosion spell to remove the barrier.

There, not too far ahead is the vault door. Drop your Lodestone down and head inside.

The vault is made up of two wings. At the end of each wing is a lever and both levers need to be pulled to gain access to the boss. From the start you can go left of right.

Left Wing
Head down the stairs past the big rock. To the right of big rock is a destroyable wall and beyond that are a couple of granite deposits.

Moving forward will bring you face-to-face with the main environmental hazard in the vault - the spinning fire wheel.

Navigate past it and you'll come to a room with 3 exits.

To the left is a cave with 2 iron nodes.

Up above you are a couple of iron nodes and a good view of the second floor, where you'll see 4 enemies - 3 Hulks and a Sentinel - waiting for you.

RANGER: You can aggro all enemies by firing at them from your position. They'll rush your location and run to the floor below you, exposing their heads, giving you plenty of opportunities for headshots.

The remaining path will lead up to the second floor, where you'll see a chest and 2 statues with a fire trap behind it.

Proceed through the fire trap and you'll see a Dragonkin Effigy, who will teach you the Dragonkin Mage Hood recipe.

If you continue moving forward you'll come to several spinning fire traps. Turn around and return to the 2 statues you passed earlier.

Move toward the far corner of the room where you'll find a destroyable wall. A Vault Core, a chest and another fire trap are in the room behind the wall. This trap sprays fire down a narrow corridor. You'll be severely injured If you get caught in its spray.

The fire trap ahead of you and spinning fire traps near the Dragonkin Effigy lead you to the same place, so overcome one then continue following the path.

Down stairs you'll find another fire trap and past that on the left is a breakable wall which leads to some iron nodes and a rat. Keep moving forward and you'll come to the first of two levers. Pull it, return to the starting area and into the right wing.

Right Wing
You'll immediately face a 'T' intersection when turning to the vault's right wing.

To the left is a room with a few rats and a breakable wall revealing granite and iron nodes.

To the right are fire traps. Lots and lots of fire traps.

Above you to the right you'll find a Vault Core.

Navigate through, over and around the fire traps across the gap to the over side, where you'll see a Dragonkin Effigy and a breakable wall. The Dragonkin Effigy will teach you the Dragonkin Mage Robe Legs recipe.

Continue on and you'll come to what is perhaps the most difficult** fight in the entire game. A 5v1 battle between yourself, 2 Sentinels and 3 Hulks (one of the Hulks is a little shy and will only come out of hiding when his friends start to play). Aggroing any of the enemies will turn all of them against you.

RANGER: remember the breakable wall next to the Dragonkin Effigy? The room behind that wall has a ramp that leads up to a metal block. If you aggro the enemies and kite them to that metal block they'll all follow you and try to engage you in melee combat. Similar to the battle with the enemies in the vault's left wing, you'll be safe from danger and get plenty of headshot practice. You may have to guess where to aim as oftentimes your head will get in the way of the camera.

After the fight enter the room where the battle would have taken place and you'll find another Dragonkin Effigy. This time you'll learn the Dragonkin Mage Robes recipe. You'll find a chest on the second floor.

That room leads to a final area with the second lever.

Off to the side is a small room protected by a fire trap. Beyond that is a chest with the Red Standing Torch recipe.
Boss battle
The final boss of the vault is....is....underwhelming. It's an Overlord and a Sentinel, and each can be pulled individually. So do that.

RANGER: Did you see those raised areas just outside the door to the boss room? You know, the ones you need to jump up to with your Windstep spell? The ones that melee enemies cannot access.... To make it fun, count how many headshots you get...

Plunder the Vault Core and chest after the enemies are defeated.

Talk to the final Dragonkin Effigy to recieve the Dragonbone Dagger recipe.

The Dragonkin is a level 4 mage set with decent stats and is currently the equal best in-game set for spell casters.

Congrats, you're done! Time to leave the area and return to your base for a nice cold beverage!
