The Guiding Star
The swamp is thick with fog, and the air feels heavy, like it’s hiding something. You can’t tell which way to go; every direction looks the same. There’s a constant sense that someone is watching from just beyond the mist... and then, a bullet tears into your flesh.

Yes, such is the Famenne Wetlands experience. Not pleasant! And since you’re here, you probably don’t want to stay longer than necessary.

Welcome to the guide! It will showcase various ways you can traverse the area to reach the CERH Research Facility. From a simple hike to an exhilarating slope-surf, the choice is yours.

Let’s begin with the most essential: getting our bearings. Where do we go? Look at the picture:

It should look familiar. This is where you spawn. Everything seems normal, except for one thing: 392,35€ in the distance.

Take a good look at that sign. Because that’s exactly where we’re headed; that’s where the CERH Research Facility entrance is located!
The Dangers Ahead
Sure, it would be easy to walk forward and enter the facility... If it weren't for dangers and obstacles!

Don't worry, there is nothing major. Once you know what's there, that's half the battle.

1. Swamp Hillbillies - Time waste danger

As you make your way across the plank bridge and past the wooden shack, expect to be shot at. Don’t flinch, just ignore them. They can’t hurt you directly while you’re in your mech. What they can do is drag out every attempt and seriously piss you off.

2. Swamp V-Stalker One-shot danger

As you step into the swamp and start moving forward, you’ll see a hill on your left. Behind that hill is a V-Stalker and it’ll kill you faster than you can blink.

You’re probably wondering how I managed to get a photo of it for this guide, right? Don’t worry, I’ll show you how to take a shot just like that. And trust me, you can shoot a lot more than just pictures.

3. Steep Swamp Slope - Mech stopper (unless you know the trick) danger

As you procede further, you will reach the steep swamp slope. Enemies can be shot. Slopes are immune to bullets, unfortunately. You can walk up this slope without the mech, but once you reach the top, you will have more holes in your body than a kitchen sieve. No worries! I have just the trick to get you and your mech to the top in no time. The trick worth learning, since it is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be... unnatural

4. Swamp Firing Squad - Surprise party up the slope danger

Once you reach the top, you’ll be greeted with cheerful bullet confetti! Nothing to worry about. They do deal damage, but not enough to warrant panic. Take your aim. Shoot. One by one. You have time.

After all the dangers, you'll see the wooden house. What you seek lies within.
Solutions
Humanoid enemies need no tricks. Do as per usual.

Swamp Mech

1. Corner peeking
You know where the enemy is. All you have to do is move slooowly around the corner it is hiding behind, just enough for your guns to get a clean shot. However, move too far, and you’ll be obliterated immediately. Or not?..

2. Or not. Enemies can’t shoot you after you exit your mech and stay within its hitbox.

That's right - once you exit your mech, you are practically invincible. So, once spotted, exit your mech. Simple as. Do not move too far from your mech. You can use weapons from your mech to destroy the other mech. Here's a video demonstration:

Don't forget to snap a cool picture!

Steep Swamp Slope

Your mech can dodge left, right, and backward. When you perform a dodge, you gain a burst of speed. Usually, you lose it just as quickly.

That’s not the case on a slope.

Oh no. When you repeatedly dodge on a slope, you gain speed faster than you lose it. The result? You end up climbing the slope. Fast. Sometimes, so fast, you fly right into the air. Here's a video demonstration:

Two-three dodges are enough. More than that, and you will fly.
Video demonstrations: Hiking through the swamp
With everything said, you can reasonably expect to hike through the swamp. Here's a video demonstration of how it could look like:

Surfing through the Swamp
Let me put it straight: your mech can fly. Yes, it really can. FInd a slope, dodge repeatedly into it as fast as you can and bam - you are in the air. So why bother with enemies, slopes, or taking the long way around when you could just fly straight to the goal?

The answer’s the same as in The Lord of the Rings: "Why didn’t the eagles just fly the ring to Mordor?" - it’s not as simple as it sounds.

Sure, you can gather over 9000 speed on a slope. But then you will fly off the map! You don't want that. You want to reach the specific point.

That's why you wanna surf. When you move along a slope with high enough speed, your mech glides along. That's surfing. It allows you to regain control and change the direction of movement. When you surf, you have a grip and you can turn your mech and dodge it in another direction.

Surfing needs its own guide and trying to explain it here just doesn't make sense! However, I do want to give you some cool ideas. Thus, I leave a couple of video demonstrations. Check them out! Try surfing yourself. It's not hard, there are no special button presses. Just fly off the slope and try to reach where you want to reach!

Surfing is not easy. But it can be fun!

Here's a tip:
When you’re surfing along the Swamp Mech Hill, keep your eyes parallel to the slope. Just as you’re about to leave it, start dodging left. If you don’t, you’ll slam into the mountain and lose all your speed!

But if you time your dodges just right — and you’ve got enough momentum — you’ll land right in front of the facility entrance.

Have fun!
