Easy Compatability Fix (dgVoodoo2)
UPDATE: The game was updated to include this fix as of 4/12/25. This solution should work for most people, but if not you can remove dgVoodoo by deleting the dll files in the game directory (note that they might be added again whenever the game updates).

Tears of the Moon is made with From Software's 25 year old "Sword of Moonlight King's Field Making Tool" from 2000, and is likely to have problems on modern hardware. If you are experiencing black screens, broken texture transparency (black textures), crashing, ect., then this fix might be for you.

1) First, you will need to download the fix we're going to use (dgVoodoo), just grab the latest version for regular usage: https://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2/

2) Open the dgVoodoo zip file you just downloaded with winrar or whatever you use.

3) In your Steam library, right click on Tears of the Moon and select properties. Navigate to Installed Files, then click browse.

4) Copy over dgVoodoo.conf from the zip file, then within the same zip file navigate to MS > x86 and copy over D3DImm.dll and DDraw.dll.

5) Optionally, you can force-upscale the resolution by opening the dgVoodoo.conf file with notepad, then set ScalingMode to "stretched_ar" and save the file.

6) Run the game and it should work!

Note: I also recommend setting your resolution to 1024x768 for 4:3 or 1366x768 for 16:9 aspect ratios. Playing at higher resolutions may cause problems.

Note that while 16:9 aspect ratio is supported, when turning your camera you will notice the world rendering in real-time as it pops into existence, while 4:3 aspect ratio resolutions won't have this issue. It's a trade-off but I recommend 4:3 resolutions as a result, but it's up to the player.

is there a way to enable a windowed mode or non-fullscreen?

Is there a way to use steam input while using dgvoodo. Because I've noticed that it stops working after its been installed.

This fixed literally all my issues. I tried to setup dgVoodoo myself, but fucked it up somehow. Thank you so much!
