Firstly, what exactly IS Sage Dashing?

Sage Dashing is when you use the Sage's Cowl item in order to go extra extra fast!

Okay but what is the Sage's Cowl?

The Sage's Cowl is unlocked from the main hub world for 1000 Antishards from Daro. (Look for the purple crystals marker). You can swap to it by hitting Tab after buying it, replacing your default starting Board.

Essentially it gives you a short burst of upward velocity when used, vs the Board's horizontal velocity.

Okay so how do you Sage Dash?!

To Sage Dash, simply use the Cowl at the moment you hit a Perfect Landing. This'll cause the Cowl to boost you rapidly forwards rather than upward, increasing your speed by about 10m/s for a short period and setting you up perfectly for the next landing!

Oh cool theres a name for this now i found that the cowl was the best ability rlly early on and tried to push it to its limits cool that theres a name for using it now tho

The landing is important to making it work effectively, you can do it from a Good landing too but it won't be as big a boost forwards. Doing it just off the ground without a landing gives you more vertical than horizontal velocity. Downslopes are good for it since you usually don't have anything to impede the burst in front of you, but it's also easy for your feet to lift off the ground at high speeds if the downslope is too steep so you've gotta have quick reactions to drop it right as you make contact with the ground.

I think it's not about perfect landing, jumping from any ground with cowl gives you 10m/s boost. The important part is to jump from a down slope. Climbing height in this game costs a lot of speed even with help like cowl or boost track. By jump from a down slope it won't give you much height boost and so you won't end up losing the speed immediately. I can maintain 130m/s+ average speed using this trick with just one Pu coin and no other items.
