Coromon Shiny Hunting Pt.1 Your Friends
Hello! If you are reading this then you (like me) want to either find a certain Potent/Perfect Coromon or want to fill out said Dexes. Look no further as i have completed said farming and have a few pointers as well as an explanation as to how to obtain these rare Coromon. First, your most handy/used tool for getting these Coromon: the Potentiflator.

The Potentiflator: This is accessed early in the game, before your first boss battle with the Titan Voltgar. It is found on the second floor of Donar Island's Trainer Hub to the right. A man named Oleg runs it but it is a bit pricey: a whopping G2500! Each! But don't start sweating as it is worth every gold, trust me. If you're low on gold a good way to do it is to get a Armado with a Trait called Hoarder. The higher the Armado's level the better chances are of getting valuable items to then sell. If you have an Armado but it doesn't have said Trait, you can just go to the left and talk to Roman, who will change your Coromon's Trait for only G1000. Another way is to grow a whole whack of Juba and Mull Fruits and then use the Lux Kitchen (Obtained in Soggy Swamp after defeating Voltgar) to make XL Combi Cakes which sell at about G2000 a piece. I know my own Armado, Mighty, helped out a lot with that, particularly when I was saving up to buy the easy Perfect Slitherpin in Darudic (which will set you back about G3,194,000, so start saving!). The Potential Level will affect how many points are gained, with a lower one supposedly having a higher chance to go up by more than 1 point but this is still quite rare. There is also a small chance that a low Level with go all the way to 21, which is Perfect, but again is very rare. This page has a handy chart on it for the chances of an increase: https://coromon.wiki.gg/wiki/Potentiflator
One thing that should be noted is that each Coromon can be Potentiflated once. You can't keep trying until they're Perfect so make sure you make it count and choose carefully, which is why it's not recommended to use Potency 19 Coromon as you're likely only to get them up 1 level and be stuck like that, which sucks but that's how the game works. Try using a Potency 20 Coromon as a guaranteed Perfect Coromon, that's how I was able to get most of mine.

Now your second most used tool: Potent Scents.

Potent Scents: Potent Scents are your best friend when it comes to hunting as they not only increase your chances of finding Potent and Perfect Coromon (both of which can be found normally but are very rare, particularly Perfect - which i would know considering I only found my first after I beat the game :C ) but they also increase the number of Coromon you encounter making it faster to find them. But there is a catch: they can't be bought and they only last 6 minutes in game (fighting and pausing stop the counter, thankfully). You can receive them as hidden items, completing the Research Tasks and receiving them as a level-up reward, or by making them yourself. You are able to craft them right away but you need some very specific ingredients first: 3 Cham Fruit, 3 Ber Fruit, 10 Sweetshrooms (the yellow ones), 15 Zenshrooms (the blue ones), and 15 Fungus (the purple ones). The fruits you can find or receive and grow but the mushrooms you will need to harvest unless you have completed the main Research Task list and are onto the bonus rewards which give you all the ingredients and then some. It does take a while as each Shroom patch only gives you 1 Shroom each, but this can be doubled by obtaining and wearing certain Headwear that you can buy in the in-game Cosmetics shop: the Shroom hats! There's one for each variety but the three listed above are the ones you'll likely focus on more. Each one costs about 180 Gems but are worth it as you can get Shrooms much faster this way. There is a secret spot in the Soggy Swamp that's been dubbed Mushroom Island located in Area 1 but isn't accessible until much later in the game as you need the Luxboard to reach it. This particular location is the best place for harvesting Shrooms as not only is it full of Shrooms of all varieties but there are no patches of grass to ruin your harvesting. I definitely recommend stockpiling Potent Scents as you will need them for hunting: they increase your chances of finding Potents from 1 in 35 to 3 in 35 and Perfect from 1 in 3194 to 3 in 3194. Not much but it definitely helps.
Coromon Shiny Hunting Pt.2 The Three Forms of Coromon
Now for a quick overview of the three forms and their Potential Levels:

Standard: Very basic. You will almost always encounter Standard Coromon anywhere you go and will definitely encounter them when grinding for a Potent/Perfect. Potency levels can go from anywhere between 1-16, anything above is either Potent or Perfect. If you can get one that is a 16 you can take it to Donar Island and go to the Trainer Hub's second floor and give it to Oleg and it should come back as Potent.

(An Example of a Standard)

Potent: Stronger than Standard but nowhere near as strong as Perfect. You are also more likely to run into these normally than Perfect Coromon. They are noticeable for being a different color scheme than a Standard and also give off sparkles when they enter the battlefield. Their Potential Level ranges from 17-20, with 20 being the optimal level as if you Potentiflated said Coromon it would come back as Perfect whereas something lower likely wouldn't. The downside is that Potent 20 Coromon are very rare and hard to find (trust me on that; I made a meme over a Bobly *see insert*)
But if you're Perfect hunting i definitely recommend finding and catching any Potent 20 Coromon you find/can catch as it will make you life SO much easier!

(An Example of a Potent Coromon)

Perfect: The most powerful form of Coromon but also by far the hardest to obtain. You do have a chance to find them using Potent Scents but it is still extremely rare. The easiest way to get one is to use the aforementioned method above but that can still take time unless you're Lucky*. Though for the lazy gamers of us (don't feel bad, I'm a lazy gamer too) the game actually gives you a few freebies. Two Perfect Coromon that you can obtain in the game (for free I might add) are a Perfect Humbee, obtained by using the Beehive you get in Hayville but this requires the Tremor Module which isn't obtained until Vlamma near the end of the game which kinda sucks but -\_("3)_/-
The second one is actually one of three you can receive: a Perfect Purrgy, Lunarpup, or Otogy. You can get one by completing the side quest Perfect Trade which is found/completed on Fresia Pass east of Alavi. There's a guy wandering around in the grass by the name of Abdallah who is *drumroll please* Perfect hunting. He's trying to get a Perfect Blizzburd but ran out of Potent Scents and would like a couple. Be a pal and give him a couple of yours and he'll reward your kindness with a free Perfect Coromon. But you can only get one so choose carefully unless you don't really care or just want a specific one - you can easily find all three Croromon so you can find the other two quite easily if you want. The final Perfect Coromon that you can easily obtain was mentioned earlier in the guide: the Slitherpin in Darudic. When you go to the rather expensive marketplace you may notice a pen at the bottom that has three Slitherpin in it: a Standard, Potent, and of course a Perfect. The catch is of course you have to buy them and the Perfect Slitherpin may take some time as well as a lot of saving due to its steep price tag. Or you can be super cheap and just find a 20 one and save yourself the trouble. But if you do decide to buy it you can easily and quickly evolve it right there in that area: as the vendor explains all you have to do is put the Slitherpin at the front of your party and go out into the Scorching Sands. After that all you have to do is run around until you pass out from heat exhaustion (faster if you're wearing the towel you get at the spa) and it will automatically evolve. Like with Potent Coromon, Perfect Coromon also have a rather dramatic change in color and emit sparkles when they emerge onto the battlefield.

Coromon Shiny Hunting Pt.3 Hunting Methods
Now for the main event: how to hunt Coromon.

Coromon are found all over Velua in a variety of environments and places (sounds familiar, anyone?) and thus you will have to look all over for them. Some are found in multiple areas and some are found in only one or two. Some are also harder or rarer to find than others and you may have to grind for a bit to find the ones you need/want. But all can be found in game with no need to trade. You just need to evolve a few to complete your Dex, that's all.

As for actually hunting, you will need your team, a whole whack of Potent Scents, lots of chips, and especially - time. This will take a while so be prepared to spend a lot of time searching for that one Coromon. My recommendation for hunting is to try and find a place where there are few other Coromon and/or there is a higher concentration of the one you're after as this will reduce the time spent grinding and increase the chances of finding a Potent/Perfect. Now, you of course use a Potent Scent but then SAVE! There are a couple of methods to do this but one is rather painful, particularly for Switch users like me, and the other does the same job but I think it takes a little longer to do.

Method 1: This is the 'main' method of getting Perfect Coromon and the one you'll find on the Wiki page. it basically involves you doing the steps above and then getting into a fight with a Coromon. If it's not a Potent or Perfect then you shut off and try again. As I said, it does work but if you use a Switch it can hurt your hands especially in handheld mode. TV mode might help but it's the same deal: find (catch), shut off, repeat. It does work and has the benefit of saving your Potent Scents but makes it hard to do the Daily Tasks which take up precious time). The upside to this is if you find what you're looking for you can save and have lots of time to search for more.

Method 2: This is something I figured out myself, not sure if anyone else has but it also works, maybe not as well as the above method but it does. You set yourself up like you do above (Potent Scent + Save) then you just run around/fish for Coromon and let the timer run out (Fishing runs out slower just so you know). Once it does, you simply shut it off and restart. If you're lucky enough to find what you're looking for, then simply save and go from there. This method might be a bit slower than the first one but it is easier on your hands and you can also easily do Daily Tasks and restart with a full timer (you can probably do that with the above way as well). This also lets you run into that many more Coromon and gives the game a chance to reroll for a Potent or Perfect.
Coromon Shiny Hunting Pt. 4 Tips and possibly Tricks
Finally, I have a few pointer for you as well as some helpful guides and a strange thing I noticed...not sure if it made any difference or not though...-\_("3)_/- Anyway, here's some further pointers:

Don't give up: Might seem obvious but as I learned hunting for Potents and Perfects takes a lot of time and patience, even if you do get Lucky* and randomly find one. If you need to step away for a bit and take a breather, do so. Don't kill yourself trying to finish this (trust me, it's hard and can be REALLY frustrating!). The good news is that finishing the Potent and Perfect Dexes isn't mandatory but can give you some good Research Task points - each Perfect Coromon you catch is actually worth 100 RP! Please note though that Potent/Perfect Coromon that you Potentiflated doesn't could towards catching points/counter but does count towards the Potentiflated Coromon Task.

If you can't find something, try somewhere else: Some Coromon can be found elsewhere and may have a higher encounter rate. Some also have their evolutions out there in the wild and that can make it much easier to get them. Some you may have to level up in order to get their evolved forms while others can simply be evolved or devolved using a Devolve Pill - obtainable once you reach Donar Island at most if not all Shops throughout Velua. I certainly used this tip myself more than once and it did help out a lot. You can even encounter multiple 20 and Perfect Coromon in one place but this is up to Luck*. I know I certainly did when I was grinding for Blobly at the Mine Entrance in Vlamma...and didn't find one useful Bloby!!! >:C But if you are having trouble then it might be a good idea to try somewhere else or even try hunting a different Coromon for a bit then go back to the previous one.

REMEMBER TO SAVE!!!!!: Huge deal when hunting. If you use one of the two methods listed here or just run around like a dork it's important to save, especially of you find one of the Coromon you're looking for (like a Perfect one for instance) as if you forget and your game dies or you shut it off doing one of the methods without saving...you'll lose it. Trust me on this; you need to save as soon as you start hunting and after you get a Coromon. Or you'll pull a me and do this:
Don't pull a me and have to do that all over again otherwise you may just have to throw your computer/Switch across the room. Thankfully I found a Perfect Mooby later and was able to fill out that line.

Use these guides to help you map out locations: This particular site helped me out a lot not only finding Coromon but also the best places to grind for Shinies. Sadly it's not complete yet so you may have to do a bit of searching yourself: https://coromon.netlify.app/
Use the Finder page and type in the name of the Coromon you're looking for and they'll list out all locations where it can be found as well as the encounter rates for all the others in the area. Extremely useful! The other place you can try - which lists the Crimsonite Coromon, though they made a slight mistake with Arcturos: you can find him on B3 of the Submerged Tunnels as well as the B2 - is the Coromon Wiki page: https://coromon.wiki.gg/
Mind you, they don't have everything and the Fandom page isn't nearly as good.

Weird Coincidence?: I'm sure you've noticed me making some annotations earlier on in the guide. Well, there's a reason for that: I think I discovered a way to help find rare Coromon. Now before you get excited, I have no idea if this is purely a coincidence or actually a hidden trick but it seemed to help me find special Coromon. And this mysterious trick is...use a Coromon that has the Lucky Trait. I had decided to use my Moffel Scratch as a battler after I beat the game - mainly because I hadn't used her in forever and the Moffel line is my favourite - and she has the Lucky++ Trait. Next thing I know, I find my first Perfect - a Digmow - when I'm moving to a new location through North Wastin Desert. Again, I have no idea if that's just a coincidence or not but I started finding more and more Perfects and 20 Potent Coromon after that. All with my Lucky++ Moffel at the front of my team. To my knowledge there is nothing on this phenomenon but I still went with it to finish my hunt and recently completed it. This could simply be pure timing but if you want to try such thing these are the Coromon lines that possess the Lucky Trait:

Moffel->Digmow->Dugterra
Lemobi->Makinja
Arcta->Arcturos
Crimsonite Arcta->Crimsonite Arcturos

Let me know if you notice a difference as well! We could have discovered something here!

Have lots of Spinners and Cakes handy: This goes without saying, but if you're going to be hunting you'll be needing lots of Cakes to heal and Spinners, particularly Gold and Trick Spinners, to catch Coromon. Elemental Spinners also help, but remember that Crimsonite Coromon have no special Spinner so just be careful especially with Crimsonite Otorotchy who has the Sacrifice Skill and can faint as a result. Make sure you have a Armado with the Hoarder Trait handy to grab lots of sellables or just make a bunch of XL Combi Cakes, whichever.

Have strong Coromon handy: Another one that goes without saying but make sure your Coromon are high leveled to reduce the number of times you have to heal, especially going after the Coromon at the last parts of the game (i.e. The Crimsonites which have no weaknesses).

Try to use a Coromon that knows Tactical Slam: A good way to help catch Coromon is to use a move known as Tactical Slam. Similar to False Swipe from Pokemon, it leaves the target with 1 HP, thus making it that much easier to catch them and thus save you money.

Use Stones to get easy Potent/Perfect: The creators of Coromon were extra nice to use by giving us very rare (and hard to obtain) stones that can cause any Coromon to immediately become either Potent or Perfect. WITHOUT using the device on Donar Island.

For free.

Well, not completely free: the only way to get multiple Perfection Stones is by donating to the Coromon website which as you can imagine could get costly but some of the rewards are worth the expense: https://www.coromon.com/donate

The only other way to get a Perfection Stone (for free) is by beating the game. Your boss gives you one as a reward for all your hard work (which I'd say is deserved, especially after everything!!). There is - to my knowledge anyway - only 1 Potential Stone that you can get in the entire game and it's found in the Sun Temple after you defeat Chalchiu. Keep in mind that you actually have a pretty good chance to find a Potent Coromon naturally without a Potent Scent so it kinda defeats the purpose but it's still nice to have. But due to the expense and limited amount these Stones aren't really recommended. Just hunker down and grind is my advice; there's no easy way to do this, unlike in Pokemon.

Remember to have fun!: Hunting for Perfect and Potent Coromon is very time consuming and can take weeks or even months to fill out both Dexes (I probably spent about 200 hours or more filling it out - I finished hunting at 381hrs played total). So if you only want to find certain ones then just do those but if you want to find them all then be prepared to grind for days on end. If that sounds a little too daunting to you, then just break it up into sections. Meaning play Coromon some days and do something else another day and go back or whatever, up to you. Either way, if you do wish to try and fill out all Dexes then I wish you the best of Luck!

Happy Hunting!
