it's not bugged, just not the best description of an achievement. the important thing is hitting ENTER. if you have 63 on your calculator, you could use X++ and hit ENTER to finish that turn. now you have 64 and it's a new turn, and you could use like a 4->5 and hit ENTER. you've finished that turn and now have 65. do this kind of thing until the achievement pops.
the mistake i was making was using multiple ways of adding one but in the SAME turn. if you have your calculator showing 5, and you use X++ to get to 6, then you use coin++ to get to 7, then you add 1 using a normal plus sign(+) to get to 8, then you hit ENTER, the game thinks you just went from 5 to 8, not from 5 to 6, 6 to 7, and 7 to 8. as soon as i figured this out, i got the achievement within a minute.
