Basics
Hello dear reader, welcome to my guide!
Here are the basics:
Things to do
  • Minigames
There are 3 minigames that are unlocked with each bug stage; baby, juvenile and adult. Each mini game have 3 difficulty levels in the form of stars; you must complete the previous difficulty to unlock the next. Each difficulty level also spikes the rewards you can get, there are 4 types of rewards you cam get; nothing (you get this by loosing), silver currency, Gold currency, Star (Golden currency, furniture, hat or bug fact.)
You can see the minigame types in the bug section!
  • Currency
There are 2 different currencies, gold and silver. This can be spent on food, furniture, hats or even the different shells for the surrounding scree/background
Lodge Areas

  • Computer
Here you can look at you ingame collectables aka Notes, Facts, Stock and Goals! Notes is where you can see story plotpoints in the form of diary entries or letters but also Hints!
  • Garden
Here's where you bury your buggy friends but also grow flowers!
  • Specimens
Where your pinned and jarred friends go!
  • Scatalog
Buy items here! Furniture, hats or even do some gacha gambling! Fun for all ages!
  • Beetleback Ridge
Heal beetleback ridge, your storyline objectives will be listed here
Bug Care

  • Feed your bugs food there are 3 options; free food, silver or gold. With the x tarot, all food will be free! If you do not feed them, they will die.
  • Pluck off mites when they get sick or leave them be in hopes your bug will cure themselves
  • Pet your little friend in all the places they like, they will show a pixel heart when you successfully pet them however places they don't like being pet in will be red and they'll do a unique upset animation when pet there
  • Decorate the terrarium with all their favourite items (each species has the same favourite item) and earn their favourite hat for fully decorating their home with their favourite decorations
  • Play minigames with them!
  • Give them a hat!
  • Take photos with the camera button, this saves them into memos and you can take 3 photos that you can look back on for each bug when they pass
  • See what moods/traits you can get and make each bug friend as unique as you - tailor their personalities how you see fit
Achievements
Achievements, who isn't fond of getting your favourite collectable advancements to showcase on your page?
The achievements you get on steam happen naturally through story progression however there are also other collector aspects such as Goals, Stock, Facts and Notes. Because filling these out does not result in a completion achievement they will get their own sections in due time.

Achievements (in order):
  • Big Emergence Energy
For this achievement, you need to hatch you're first bug egg; select the Terrarium (top middle section) and select the egg which for new players, will be the Rubber Ducky Isopod. Then simply wait for it to hatch. Each bug has 4 stages; egg, baby, juvenile and adult.
  • Posed for Posterity
For this achievement wait till your bug dies, unfortunate right? But that is all apart of life - when you bug friend dies you'll have 3 options when deciding what to do with your dearly departed friend; pinning, burying them in the garden or jarring them. For this achievement select pinning which will be the bobby pin icon, move the yellow dots on the bug to move them into any shape you want! Once done a circle will appear, press it and your bug will be pinned for display for the rest of time and you'll get this achievement.
  • Jarred to Perfection
For this achievement, wait till your buggy friend dies - I recommend using the isopod as they have the shortest lifespan, they also so far, are the only bugs that can be jarred. Simply click the jarring option, lower the bug into the jar and position them how you like before clicking the circle icon when done to seal the jar to which you will receive the achievement.
  • Garden Guardian
For this achievement, wait till your bug friend dies. This will take a while especially if your bug has the tarot that makes adult lives 2x longer (given you don't let them starve to death.) When your bug passes, you can select the option to bury them in the garden; select it, lower your bug into the ground, press the circle icon and you will get this achievement upon completion.
  • Let the healing begin
Now we move onto story progression! This is the first plot point achievement you will receive in the game, to gain this achievement you need to raise one CHEERFUL bug.
This can be done by feeding you bug, keeping it alive and happy by decorating its habitat with it's favourite items which you can get by playing games or through winning currency in said games and buying items.
  • Greener Pastures
After restoring the earth habitat, the grass habitat will come next. For this achievement raise the new unlocked bug (Weevil) as the requirement is for a GRASS bug. You will then need them to have the THRIFTY Mood which can be done by feeding your bug free food (either the first food option or by getting the tarot that makes food free) and having silver furniture or no furniture. Next you will need a POSH bug, do the opposite and get use your isopod friend then have gold furniture out alongside their favourite hat which you unlock by using said favourite furniture in combination with feeding them the highest food option regularly!
  • Delicious Decay
Raise the next unlocked bug with a RESTFUL moodlet (this can be done by providing them with a bed and keeping their food and mood up before sleep so the bug has a better quality of sleep) then you will need a second bug with the INDULGED mood, use your isopod friend (shortest lifespan = quickest method) and have all their gold/favourite furniture out alongside their favourite hat which you unlock by using said favourite furniture in combination with feeding them the highest food option regularly!
  • Bountiful Blossoms
Personally this is the hardest for me, you get this by restoring the flower habitat. You will need your unlocked bug to be STUDIOUS. This means feeding them a lot and winning a lot of minigames (the hard part) I advise rolling for the longer lifespan tarot card so you have more time to get the Studious mood.
  • Still waters
Restore the water habitat.
  • Archaeologist Apprentice
Excavate a extinct bug.
  • Flourishing Forest
Heal Beetleback Ridge aka finish the game.
Mood Types
There are several moodtypes in the game, naturally you unlock hints in the computer every time you release a bug that does not have the mission required trait or whenever you unlock a need mood.

  • Gloomy vs Cheerful
Cheerful; Keep you bug happy by feeding them, taking care of them when they have mites, all around just basic care or get the tarot card that makes them always cheerful
Gloomy; Do the opposite. Barely feed your bug, let them starve sometimes, all around just ignore them and they'll get gloomy
  • Sickly vs Hearty
Sickly; let the mites fester on your bug, they'll get sickly and just barely feed them
Hearty; Immediately click the mites off and feed you bug as soon as they finish their food just all around keep them alive
  • No Touchy vs Cuddlebug
No Touchy; Repeatedly touch the red areas on your bug, the ones they do not like and get upset over it
Cuddlebug, successfully pet the areas of your bug they like. You will know it is successful because a pixel heart will appear
  • Modest vs Indulged
Modest; Majority grey furniture and free or medium food quality options
Indulged; Favourite furniture and their favourite hat, an over abundance of food (filling it up the second it is finished)
  • Thrifty vs Posh
Thrifty; grey level furniture and (free) food
Posh; Gold level furniture and food + their favourite hate
  • Wakeful vs Restful
Wakeful; do not allow your bug to sleep (no bed) or use the tarot card that means they do not need rest
Restful; allow your bug to sleep (give them a bed and make sure they are happy before bed with food needs met)
  • Studious vs Athletic
Studious; Feed them a lot and play lots of minigames
Athletic; do not play many minigames with your bug

Are there any large Beetles like stags or rhino beetles in this game?
narinehmay 16 Jun @ 1:16am
hey
I've completed almost everything so feel free to ask me stuff.

I've completed all of the inner goals except one that is still in a question mark.
I'm thinking it appears after putting all of the favorite hats?
Velmoo 16 May @ 12:31pm
OK i think i figured out the shiny thing
it might be entirely determined by a Magician tarot card
"Magician - adult bug is always shiny"
but maybe it's just in the varius videos I've researched the player got extremely luchy to hatch two bugs in a row with a Magician tarot and it is still (potentially) possible to get shiny bugs randomly with other tarots

the isopod's favorite hat is the top hat! it's unlocked after completing the goal of placing all of the isopod's favorite furniture.
Aldersnap 30 Apr @ 4:58pm
I can't figure out INDULGED, does anyone know what the isopod's favorite hat is?
combatcoven 13 Apr @ 5:20pm
Hey, just so you know your Studious vs Athletic is reversed! For Athletic bugs you're supposed to play mini games and train them to follow food, meanwhile with Studious one's you're supposed to drop their food and lose mini games
cloudmint 8 Apr @ 2:07pm
Actually right after posting this, my bug brought the mint tin back from foraging. ^^
cloudmint 8 Apr @ 2:03pm
Can you tell me how you got the mint tin? I'm missing it somehow. Also there are some furniture items missing from the list that I have, I can list them if you'd like! (I don't remember the names for all of them though ^^")

Hello! Nice guide!

I've gotten all bugs and unlocked all sorts of stuff. So, you need any contributions, feel free to reach out.

Here's some info:
All the bugs not mentioned: Fairy Shrimp, Rosy Maple Moth, and Hell Ant.

Shiny Colors:
Knapweed Weevil - Purple with green patterns
Pleasing Fungus Beetle - Orange wings
Orchid Mantis - Blue
Fairy Shrimp - Green stripe and eyes
Rosy Maple Moth - Blue
Hell Ant - Purple

I have all the tarot card info, but I won't list it here since it's a lot.

For Athletic, I'm not sure if minigames are involved because I did tons of minigames with mine and they were still athletic. It's more about dragging the food away from your bug instead of clicking to drop it, which will gradually train your bug to follow the food.
TTVMEIDAYZE 4 Apr @ 8:16pm
for the explorer type, you also need to change the name a few times and also change their hat. For homebody, just don't place anything before their born and it should automatically make them a homebody.
