Make sure you have no mods installed as they could interfere with the trick.

I don't want to say exactly how to do it because that could ruin the fun. So instead I've created a video to give you an idea of the steps you could take to picking the right card. Pay attention to everything! You should definitely be able to figure it out.

While notepad is nice to have but it's not required, I'm able to do it without it at this point. You shouldn't need any third party tools for this trick.

The cards are misaligned. Look at your character when choosing a card. If the card is closer to the center of the screen, it always goes first.

Ah, I understand. I've spent the last 4 days watching it for hours on end, but now I understand. The notepad gives it away, it's not what's written in the notepad. but what the notepad lets you see. It allows us to better see how the first card is closer to the center, and the last is further from it. I spent way too long watching this video, enjoy my 20 hours of research.
