There are two ways to start a tank extraction:

A: Through emails at the start of the game. Sebastian writes to you.

B: Later on once you have unlocked Workshop level 2, the extraction board appears at the back, near the paint room.
Click it, choose a site. Click FIND TANK and select which tank you want to find (25 in the base game).
Then confirm with continue. Then begin.
This method of selecting the tank you want is useful to completing achievements and completing your museum(s)

The hours will go very quickly. Press G to highlight items. Darkness will come fast and you will see the shadows appear and night time comes, crickets start chirping while digging. At first I thought this was a bug. It is part of the extraction experience in this game.

First of all, use the drone. Press shift to make more rally points for the drone search.
To place markers with the drone. Fly the drone to the position. Then place the marker. Ensure you place the marker directly in the middle.

Regarding extractions, the majority of the tank (large size) finds are in the middle of the circle on every map (satellite view) collectible (small sized) and guns (medium sized)
Update: Use the drone to fly over at least twice in a cross (X) to find the tank in the middle of the circle.

The jeep is slow, it gets stuck easily. Use the tow service. Trees are solid.
Press H for show controls. E to turn on the engine. L for lights will turn on the headlights an torch.
When you unlock the quad bike, you can select it through the email extraction.
If anyone knows how to select the quad bike through the extraction board. Please chime in the comment area.

Darkness will come early when you dig. Use the jeep lights and torch light to keep digging to expose a tank or guns. Digging is slow, about five seconds per click to dig. If you do not find the tank or gun. Use the metal detector to see where you have missed the gun, item or tank.
I find the digging a small radius circle first then dig down works best. Expand the dig area for tanks.

Dig yourself or call the excavation service for $2000. Be sure your vehicle and tools are well out of the digging area. The digging service is only for the main area. Guns and collectibles are the smaller spots on the GPR. When you dig yourself and successfully clear the tank out, the digging service will be $0.

The power washer will only appear once the digging is completed. Click the tank (pie menu) to call the digging service. A petrol / diesel truck, excavator, semi-trailer, barriers and lights with the power washer will appear around the dig site. You need to wash to 30% before you can load the tank on to the trailer.

Note: Too bad if there are collectibles or guns inside the paid tank extraction zone. You are unable to dig them out. The shovel will animate to dig but no soil will be shoveled out.

To add machine guns to tanks. You must find machine guns. For example a KV-2 tank has a DT machine gun. The correct machine gun for the tank matched for the extraction event.

Try the magnetometer versus the metal detector versus the drone.
There are collectible medals, hand guns, machine guns and tanks to be found.

Run into a water source. There will be pipes and a pump to drain the dig site. Click on the pump to start draining the water out of the hole. Turn it off when once the water has drained as it is noisy.

Then return to the workshop, the extracted tank will appear. If you already have two tanks in the workshop areas. Check the paint room.

Collect spare metal.
When you load the game, go to the yard. Run around to the known trash areas and press the left mouse button repeatedly to pick up metal quickly. Instead of waiting for 'trash to appear' to click it one by one. The metal is used in the crafting room and table.
Also by performing extraction tasks, the yard tanks start changing to ones you do not have.

Reputation is capped to 1000 points.
Before the count reaches 1000, go to the Upgrade panel and use the points on Custom Museum and Tank Warehouse (both have max level of 100)

Extraction achievements.
You’ve found a WW2 treasure! = find a collectible
Rookie digger = first tank
Advanced digger = 10 tanks
Expert digger = 25 tanks
The best digger = 50 tanks
And of course the various tanks restored. Then placing them into the museum.
Here's Your Place! Mount a machine gun to the tank. = must dig it out first
Halloween extraction = 'This is Halloween' Trick or Treat. You have finished a spooky extraction!
Christmas extraction = 'Ho Ho Ho'. You have finished a snowy extraction!

Steps:
To turn on Halloween and Christmas, press ESC -> Settings - click Game.
Under 'Force Special Event' select Halloween or Christmas.
Under 'Allow Halloween' or 'Allow Christmas' turn on which one you have selected.
Click Apply.

There are two ways to start the event.
1, Go on an extraction mission.
2, Exit the game and come back.
Upon returning the event will populate items in the workshop, and then a bit later on you will get an email to accept the hidden extraction achievement.

Use the steps above to start the next event. Or turn them off.

Ensure the formatting is correct, look at the three .json files to get the correct spacing for headers and footers. This is use to find all the collectibles and guns if you want. But they repeat.
