Introduction
The Complex is an interactive sci-fi thriller full-motion video game where your decisions lead to one of eight suspenseful endings.

As such, if you are someone that cares for seeing all endings or getting all of the achievements in the game, you will probably want to have access to your save data. Unfortunately, the game does not have a save/load file screen. By manually accessing your save data in your computer files, you can back them up to an alternate location and reload them at your leisure.

Doing so allows you to not have to watch the game eight times over. Using a helpful guide like lylat's will further help you optimize your playtime. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to leave them in the comments down below!

Filepath
Your save data can be found in the following filepath of your computer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[your Steam ID}\1107790\remote

Your save data is the file named "StoryData". If this is all you need, great! If you need further instructions, keep reading down below!
How to Find Your Steam ID
The term Steam ID refers to a unique identifier for a specific Steam account. It can be formatted in a few different ways. For the purposes we are using here, we need what is known as the "SteamID3" number. This can easily be accessed from a number of websites. I personally recommend Steam ID Finder[www.steamidfinder.com].

For example, my username is "zeldajiggmin", as seen in my Steam profile's URL.

I enter this username onto Steam ID Finder.

And am easily able to find the number I need.

In this case, my Steam ID number is '117293730', so that's the folder I should be looking for on my computer. Therefore, my filepath will be:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\117293730\1107790\remote

Please see further down below for more details.
How to Access Save Files
Method 1: Direct Access (easy but technical)
This is the most direct way of accessing your save files.
  1. Copy the filepath given above, replacing your Steam ID where prompted.
  2. Open Windows File Explorer
  3. Click on the filepath directory search bar at the top of the window to highlight the text

  4. Paste the previously given filepath, replacing "[your Steam ID]" with your Steam ID, and hit Enter.
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[your Steam ID}\1107790\remote

  5. If done correctly, you will have found your savefile location. The file named "StoryData" contains your save. Simply copy and paste it elsewhere to back it up, then keep the original in the folder and continue your playthrough as needed.

Method 2: Alternate Method (for the less tech-savvy)
For anyone who might still be confused about how to get to the save files, there is an alternate way to get there that may be easier.
  1. Right-click on "The Complex" in your Steam library
  2. Go to 'Manage' → 'Browse local files'. This will open up a separate window.

  3. At the top, you should see the filepath, showing "Steam > steamapps > common > The Complex". Click on the folder labeled "Steam".

  4. From here, you can follow the filepath listed above by going click on 'userdata' → [your Steam ID] → '1107790' [game's ID] → 'remote'.
  5. If done correctly, you will have found your savefile location. The file named "StoryData" contains your save. Simply copy and paste it elsewhere to back it up, then keep the original in the folder and continue your playthrough as needed.

As before, the file named 'StoryData' is your save file. Copy and paste this elsewhere, then continue as the guide asks.
