(in the context of demonic difficulty)
Defensive fighter + Defensive stance can provide you with a map-long buff to power and accuracy, at 5 and 25 respectively, assuming you don't take damage/counterattacks. mana cost reduction upgrades on defensive stance can make it a budget longer-term buff in relation to Monk's Charged Ki. The slight dip in crit is probably not going to matter, you will be slower and it's a static 5 power instead of scaling off mastery, buuuuuuuuuut the 25 accuracy can come in handy - very much so if you're playing on demonic, the stats on these enemies...
1) If in doubt, go for high speed. (Slow units are useless when the enemy can fight back as they get doubled all the time, so their block gets used up twice as fast).
2) If in doubt, choose range 1-2 classes. (For obvious reasons).
3) Axes are rubbish. (This mostly follows from the first two points, the only axe class I would even consider is Reaper).
Slightly more specifically:
4) Monk --> Stormkeeper is by far the best Adept. (Just try it and you'll see why).
I didn't mention Gwen in Demonic as it's outside the scope of this guide to talk about Demonic, which it requires a very, very precise gameplay that just shuts down most builds. I find those tackling the guide are at a point where they know enough about the game to not need my help, and made that clear in the beginning. Albeit, I didn't mention Gallant/Champion for her in the builds section as I found it in other difficulties incredibly squishy when, at least during play testing, their were so much magic damage amongst does that she would wipe often where, with other classes, she would survive just fine.
The Elementalist passive kind of solves the lower might tidecallers have, and synergizes with the tidecaller's passive in raising mastery by 4 (stacking) for the ENTIRE CHAPTER!! So using one ability will increase both your mastery and power by 4.
I find that this is flexible and a ramps up quite nicely. Throw like a Kindling/Mystic/Lava ring and you'll pretty much always have something to do.
