If you're wondering why you can't find a certain building in the menu, the building filter is why. Because the filter rules over everything, even if you select the ALL tab it won't actually show all.

This part of the menu is easy to overlook, but it tells you what building filter you have active. And what you have active is based on what part of the map you're looking at or what building you selected.

If your view is looking outside of a city on an empty area, then it will show Global and you can't build city-only buildings.

If it shows your city name then the AUTO menu tab will show all the buildings you can build in cities, like houses, bakery, church, bar, city storage, stations, factories, warehouses, etc.

If it shows Global then the menu will only show buildings that are available to build outside of cities like all factory buildings, distribution centers, warehouses, and stations.

If it shows the name of a production facility like Quarry then you can see the sub buildings for it, like special storage buildings or farm fields for any farm, or Station platform buildings when you select a train station, or Warehouse expansion buildings when you select a warehouse (used to store later goods like Steel and Diesel):

Deselect and Reset the Building Filter

Finally to deselect the filter back to your current view, hit ESC or left click on an empty spot of land. This is important because sometimes you may accidentally have a building, or rail piece, or signal selected and it will cause the filter to be active, hiding other buildings.

It's just kind of weird, but not difficult to understand.

Most important thing is options aren't hidden behind multiple clicks so it's fast to use once you get it.

Sounds like an awful UI.

Thanks, no wonder some buildings would just disappear from the menu
