How to find a demo version?
I was watching YouTube and in the recommendations there was a *video* about Valve and Steam, how it all started and was created (the video is good, I recommend watching it, on the Russian channel you can watch it with subtitles),
and at 16:05 there was a fragment from the 2010 Steam summer sale.

And what immediately caught my eye was the sale of games from Codemasters with Dave Mirra's (R.I.P) car in the preview
After that I wondered if it was possible to find the sale page via WayBackMachine (it's a time machine for websites). But I found something even more interesting and useful, namely links to ALL sales on Steam in this *guide*.

P.S. While I was looking for something else on the material, I found a very old *video*[stopgame.ru] from StopGame, which shows a demo version of the game.
How to download Demo Version?
I won't write about the longer search process that is in the original *guide*, but will only describe the fastest way.
Told about it ->
In short, you need to go to *Link*[steamdb.info] and click on the *Install*[steamdb.info] button at the top right
The Steam client will also open and offer to download.
What's in the demo?
There are 2 tracks available in this demo

California
In Difference #5 I told you about a small change in this race.

Morocco
Interestingly, this race is the 2nd in the release.

And also 2 cars in two different classes

Mistubishi Eclipse GT in the TrailBlazer
There is a change in Difference #7.

West Coast Choppers Stuka TT in the Trophy Truck class
There is a change in Difference #7.

Also, 4 horns are available for the car.
There will be 16 variations in the release.

One keychain "Awesome Fluffy Dice"
opens after receiving the 2nd level in the demo version.

One "Hula Girl" figurine
Available immediately
Difference №1 Demo versions from Release
Of course, there are some changes from the demo and release versions, but not many.
The first one is obviously the license agreement splash screen

Demo
The green text emphasizes that this is a demo and not the final product.

Release
Everything is the same, but without the demo version mark.
Difference №2
Also from the minor changes that greet us in the game Ken Block (R.I.P) saying that this is a demo version
In the release he also greets us, but naturally without the words of the demo version.
Difference №3
The next small change is the sports magazine, where the demo version simply tells what will be in the release

Demo
The profile link *Facebook*[www.facebook.com] and the game website *DiRT2*[www.dirt2game.com]
have not been tested for functionality.

Release
When released, shows your current level, career completion percentage, and game tips.
Difference №4
And of course limited profile editing in the demo version

Demo
You can only change gender and country.

Release
What's interesting is that they added the pronunciation of your name or nickname by racers.
Difference №5
It is also interesting that in the first race in California they changed the class of cars, or rather in the demo version of the game there were classes Trophy-Truck and Baggy

Demo
The fact that they changed the participants cannot be considered a difference, since they wanted to show the key people with the help of the demo.

Release
On release we made Raid and Stock-Baja car classes, I think they changed the classes to make it easier for a newbie to get used to the game.
Difference №6
It's more a matter of the feelings of each player, but those who have been playing the game for a long time will feel a slight change in the physics of the cars' behavior in the game, they are more controllable after jumps and skids, when on release they went more towards realism, which is good and played into the game's favor.
Difference №7
Looking through the list of cars, you can see that the preview cars have different vinyls than the ones in the release, as well as modified car stats

Demo
The vinyls on the preview cars are the ones we can see in the race.

Release
The vinyls are the original vinyls after purchasing the car.

I will also add that it is quite possible that the characteristics of the cars were changed precisely because of changes in the physics and behavior of the cars.
Difference №8
Perhaps this is not a difference, but a necessary measure to make the game simpler and more optimized, but still in the demo version of the game there is less interactivity in the mobile home than in the release version

Demo
The absence of a dancing robot and everything else.

Release
A dancing robot, a balloon, a surfboard and food appeared.
Interesting fact
This difference (if it can be considered as such) can only be detected by looking at the game files themselves

Found ->

Demo
Files of one of the cars, where only the quality of the polygons is poor.

Release
Obviously, both polygon qualities are present.

Perhaps this was intended to optimize the demo version more.
In the game, the authors made 2 polygons for cars, polygons of bad and good quality, but the cars we drive have both qualities, and the rest of the cars have only polygons of bad quality.
In the release version, of course, all cars have both qualities.
Thanks for reading :3
Thanks to those who read to the end.
I hope you were interested to know what changes have happened in the game and made it the way we love it. :3

P.S. I also found a demo version of the game from E3 (so far only *video*[stopgame.ru]), I'll try to find it, but I think it's impossible(
