Example of a late game city

I will show you on example of this recent Celtic tribe I played, but this guide works on different factions too. Buildings just change names and art, but overall function remains the same.

Here is a late-stage city. Since this city is far from front lines (1), most of it's early game infrastructure has been torn down to turn it to farm town (2). Why farms? Well, this city has a bonus (3) to food production, making more food per worker (4). This bonus is innate.

The innate bonus (1) of the city determines how much food (2) each worker (3) produces. In this case, we have 11 workers at the farms, each making 13 food, for the total (4) production of 143 food. Very good, bit it's only the start.

Certain building in the city give bonuses to production of resources. In this case:

(1) Farmers guild, +50% to food
(2) City hall, +25% to all resources
(3) Temple, +25% to all resources

Which gives us total bonuses of 100, 50 and 50 to food, ore and wood, respectively (4)

The way the game calculates the city income is:

Prd + (Prd * Bon/100) - Tax = Bal

Which in case of food is:

143 + (143 * 100/100) - 13 = 273

Many buildings have a flat maintenance cost (Tax), units on the map have their own maintenance, and everything else is stockpiled.

Several buildings change the production:

Apothecary : +10%
Shrine > Temple : +10% > 25%
Groove : +15%
Guild : +50% to specific resource
City hall : +25%
Market > Large Market : +3 > +5 each resource flat

These buildings also have secondary effects, but unrelated to production.

A good strategy in "Legion Gold" is that, as you expand across the map, you start turning your former military/mixed cities to resource cities, as they are too far away to be attacked by the enemy.

Best luck, centurions and warlords! Keep the money coming as your armies march!
