On The Use Of Weapons
  • Spend time with Skelly: Schelemeus is a valuable resource for getting used to a new weapon. If you're not completely familiar with how a weapon works, don't be afraid to slap Schelemeus around a little with it to figure out timings and ranges.
  • Pick favourites: This is not to say you should pick a favourite weapon--we all know it's Zorephet--but rather you should figure out what your favourite way to use each weapon is and practice how to use it that way. Getting comfortable in your timings and methods is going to get you a lot further than trying to figure out exactly when to use each type of attack. That'll come with time and use.
  • Don't be afraid to change things up: Sometimes, you just get a hammer or boon that completely flips the script and makes a new form of attack absolutely sing. The Fated List of Minor Prophecies will do that sometimes. Just roll with it; this is a vital method for adding new attack forms into your personal rotation and figure out what exactly that one useless move is actually for.
On Magick
  • Get a Gain Boon as soon as possible: Being able to use Omega Moves at will and charge your Hex reliably is paramount. Unless your Hex is like Wolf Howl and kind of useless, you're gonna want access to it as often as possible and Omega Moves are generally really, really good. Unless you're using Lim and Oros. So picking up a boon with Gain in the name(the ones that restore Magick) is really, really important.
  • The Good, The Bad, And The Apollo: Not all Gain Boons are created equal. Some are much more useful and reliable than others. In my opinion, the order of the good Gain Boons, best to worst, is as follows: Aphrodite, Hestia, Demeter, Zeus. Apollo varies in quality based on whether you build into it. The bad ones, from least to most egregious, are: Hephaestus, Hera, Poseidon, Ares.
  • Burn that MP bar: As soon as you have a reliable Gain Boon, put it to work. Where you can find the time to charge your attacks, charge them, use that Magick. It's how you do the best damage, it's how your charge your Hex. Don't be shy.
  • Don't be afraid to Prime: Really, you only generally need enough Magick to use your favoured Omega Move three or so times(ten or so for Ygnium's Omega Attack). Beyond that, the rest of your Magick is generally superfluous. Boons and abilities that Prime the rest of your Magick are quite worth it.
On Boons
  • Try everything once: Given the Fated List of Minor Prophecies, duh. But even without getting The List involved, you're gonna figure out the usefulness of various Boons. But try to think about how the Boons behave, and where they might be useful.
  • Not all Boons are created equal: As might be obvious, some Boons are awesome and others are... less so. Everyone has a few that are good though, so don't just avoid a given deity outright.
  • Boons are not one size fits all: There are gonna be entire deities that just outright suck for your weapon or build. The only real way to figure out what works and what doesn't is just to try it. I will give you a freebie: Controlled Burn(Hestia) is amazeballs on Descura, but it's just not value on Zorephet.
  • Elemental, my dear Watson: Be aware of the elements of the boons you're taking, and learn what you need for the Infusions you're going for. Obviously, there's only so much you can jigger the results, but try.
On Guardians
  • Observe: Spend a couple of minutes with unfamiliar bosses just dodging and learning how to read the boss's tells and attacks. Learn the behaviour before trying to figure out how to fit attacks in.
  • Mind the adds: Additional enemies in a fight should be a priority. Not because they're a threat, but because they're a disruption and a distraction, and they will throw off your groove at the worst time.
On Wardens
  • Health bar = Boss: If it's got a big-ass health bar at the top of the screen, treat it like a Guardian. Good luck.
  • Break the armour and you win: Armoured enemies are immune to flinching. Wardens that have armour are generally solo acts. Break the armour, and that Warden is officially your ♥♥♥♥♥. This means that any Daedalus Hammer option that gives bonus damage vs. armour is your friend in these fights. Except maybe Ygnium's, I just can't seem to make that work.
On Mooks
  • Every attack flinches: Okay, this one's important. If an enemy isn't armoured, any attack will stagger them, interrupting their attacks. If something's coming after you and its health bar isn't yellow, tap it and then unleash the fury.
  • Spin to win: Area of effect attacks are critical in dealing with groups of enemies. No duh, right? But, like, more than you think. Interrupting attacks is more important than laying down hurt, unless they're armoured.
On The Upstairs
  • Things are harder upstairs: Don't treat the Surface as the same as the Underworld. While Ephyra offers you more control over what you're getting--and the rewards are better as a result--the Upstairs will kick your ass in a heartbeat if you treat it with kid gloves. I'd say as far as difficulty goes you're looking at +1 zone from where you usually are. That means Ephyra is roughly as hard as Oceanus, Thessaly is roughly as hard as the Fields of Mourning, etc.
  • Medea is your best friend: If Medea is present in Ephyra, get a boon from her. She has some damn fine ones, including one that halves all armour values of all enemies you face from then on. Don't skip her unless she's busy elsewhere.
  • Know what you're doing before tackling the Surface: Have a good, firm grasp on what Boons work well with your weapon and what synergies you can shoot for. Ephyra gives you a good preview of who you're going to be working with over the course of the upstairs, so get a handle on who you're building around. Be willing to be surprised, but knowledge is power.
  • Hermes has delivery times: Shrines to Hermes are not Wells of Charon. Delivery isn't instant unless you're willing to pay for rush delivery, and that gets expensive fast, so plan ahead if you're buying from Hermes.
