Design statement for tutorial room:
We decided to completely remake the tutorial room to better set the player up for the mechanics used in the main room. To do this, we moved it indoors, in a similar house-like setting, with similar objects and the puzzle type of completing scenes shown through mannequins. We wanted the main room to show a god-like figure making a map, presumably as part of the creation of Earth, and kept the end goal of finding the apple the same. We used a set-up of the table as a map maker’s workshop, with a ruler, model of earth, and magnifier, to help guide the player, and also included a board with coordinates and a drawing of a 3D sphere to add further context. Though they are not strictly part of the puzzle, the room also includes hints as to what is happening, including the Vitruvian Man, many other “map” objects, and a model of Adam and Eve in the garden.
