Achievements Simple Guide
By 喵喵酱
all achievements guide, with game mechanics. Most of the achievements descriptions are clear, so I will make the guide short.
The level ups and unlocks changes the game difficulties a LOT. If you stuck, try the easier achievements and farm unlocks for the harder ones.

secret acievements
I guess this is what you come for.
by dev

on the 4th turn of tutorial, you can swap the plain with the water. And play your footman anywhere you can

then you will lose the tutorial

complete this achievement.

another tutorial achievement is straightfoward

You already lost a horseman before. After your second horseman kill the skeleton in the 4th turn, play a mountain on the chest.

horseman will go down and stay on the tower, get pushed by civilian, and die to the mountain

complete this achievement.
(one more secrete, you can double click things in your inventory to put it into your hand and vice versa.)
battle mechanics
The tutorial is pretty clear, but I want to add few more things.

Your lives are how many civilians you have. Losing a civilian will cost your 1 life, and result in less civilians in later battles. Each surviving civilian grants you 5-10 xp or 10-15 gold depends on its type. The more lives you have, the more civilians you have in battle, the more reward after battle.

unit level

Killing each red units grants you xp range from 1 to 5(excluding bosses). I rank each unit equal to the xp they give, though level 5 units are rare. Buying a unit cost depends on its level, too.

For example, the skeletons. In shops, you can upgrade little skeletons to bone warrior, gain "attack back" ability. The bone warriors can be upgraded to bone cavalry, tho you may not think this is an upgrade.
In battle, killing a red skeleton gives you 1 xp, bone warrior gives you 2 xp, and bone cavalry gives you 3 xp. So, I rank them from level 1, 2, 3 respectively.

action order
Other than color order, the action order refreshes at the start of each turn, and check the new unit enters the board. The new order is determined by the unit's position on the board.
For blue/green units:
Units in the rightmost column act first, moving from right to left.
If multiple units are in the same column, the topmost unit acts first, moving from top to bottom.
For red units:
Units in the leftmost column act first, moving from left to right.
If multiple units are in the same column, the topmost unit acts first, moving from top to bottom.
For example, if I play the shooter left to the bear, the shooter go after the bear.

enemy spawn
(not verified)
In escort missions, red units always spawn on tiles where they can cover at least one tile of the road. For anchored units, they must spawn on tiles where their range directly covers the road. For a moving units, they must spawn on tiles where they can reach the road through a valid movement path..
If you completely block the right side of the board, red units will spawn on the left side.
The most clear example is TNT, which always spawns next to the road.
characters unlocks
All progresses accumulate.
to unlock Brevnio Returned, use Brevnio to defeat a lich boss.
Each character has an achievement "win a boss fight", any boss on any map will count.
Alfred

Learn all red skills to unlock the might achievement, learn all blue skills to unlock the magic achievement. All achievements of this kind pop up immediately when complete, you dont need to finish a run.
Alfred has the most "units on board", and the key is to keep your units alive in battle. it's hard to replenish units with no spark source. ideally, you buy some strong ranged units to deal damage, protect the rangers, and push the front line with tanky melee units. Either magic or might branch alone is very weak, consider learning both in early game to ensure you have late game.
Brevnio
Learn all red skills to unlock the summoner achievement, learn all blue skills to unlock the supporter achievement.
The Huntress is the only hope, turn every tile to forest to win. Cast "water walk" on her will allow her to attack from water. Brevnio is very weak with these "push" units, but things get better once you get the mature deer from level ups
The bottom branch alone is easy. If going the top branch, unlock the middle branch first to get enough mana, or get +1 unit on board first to keep enough army power.
Brevnio Returned
Learn all red skills to unlock the life achievement, learn all blue skills to unlock the death achievement.
Get any "get mana when unit dies" skill to ensure mana source. In early game, there's not enough mana to cast spells, and units quality is poor until you get these two unlock units. I would focus on either forest or swamp gameplay, depend on what units I get, and abandon the other. The bottom branch with more units is easier.
Ogrri
Learn all red skills to unlock the smart achievement, learn all blue skills to unlock the strong achievement.
These starting wolves are great, but kinda dumb and hard to control. Always keep mountains and waters in hand to change units routine, the other tiles are nothing. Ogrri is a simple character, the whole strategy is save sparks and play 2 units each turn, rely on unit quality to overwhelm enemies.
You don't need to buy lives to get either achievement, but you can buy life to jump to another branch.
The bottom branch is overall easier, but the champion unit werewolf is very limited. Shaman in the other branch is much stronger for an army.
Tosha

Learn all red skills to unlock the sorcery achievement, learn all blue skills to unlock the swords achievement.
Tosha's starting units are far worse than other characters, and the level up units are mediocre. The demonic race lv4 units come with "gain 1 mana when die", so their base attributes are lower than lv4 from other races. You will need both good spells and units to win late game.
The bottom branch is much easier. The top branch is basically unplayable in early game for no mana regen. I prefer go bottom branch early, struggle with the trash starting units, and prey for good units in shop, The most difficult character to me.
Timeless

Spend all these lives to get the sacrifice achievement.
Need to buy some lives in shop and choose the life battle reward. But Timeless is super strong without any help, and lives are worthless so who care. There gains so many manas every turn, just keep spamming your spells to stomp anything.
Carl

Spend 1500 gold here to unlock the investment achievement.
This skill tree is like a shop, you can buy anything with gold and xp, without prerequisites. I would recommend save some gold in the first few battles to buy the cannon. Dont pay xp to buy golds.
The character is a bit difficult without level ups, but he gets a bear rider after level 3, and one grenadier after level 6, both are level 4 units and nearly best units in the game. After that, ez game.
Alma

Learn the two red circled skills to unlock the talent achievement.
Alma is a special civilian, you don't gain more civilian other than Alma, so you are set to 1 life, shops don't buy nor sell lives, the mystery shop do not show up.
Alma is likely the strongest character. The starting units set is great, few high rank creatures and the air deploy+ multi attack combo. Battle rewards and shop units are not soft limited to specific races. The skill tree is simple, cheap and high valued, with key skills for both unit focus or spell focus play style. Global vigilance is the best skill in game, the only problem is Alma doesn't show in the capture battle, so the vigilance is off.
boss fights

a total of 8 boss fights. each boss combine with different act (1,2,3) start with different stats, boards, and starting enemies.
For example, the treant boss on act 1 is always on this board. And there are 2 different boards for the treant boss in act 2 and act 3.
enemies start with bosses are also always the same, but this screenshot is for normal difficulty

Most bosses have magic armor, which requires you to focus your attacks on the same turn. For the counterattacking bosses, try clear other enemies to form a strong all-out attack. For the summoner bosses, use combos to make it quick, or change tiles wisely to delay or block their spawns. Don't hesitate to sacrifice your civilians. Swap your tiles in previous fights to counter the boss.

Lich and treant bosses use boards full of swamp or forest. They both have large attack areas and counterattack, but only attack to their preferred terrains. You can change some tiles for your range units to attack and avoid counterattacks, or change tiles on the road to protect civilians.

King and demon lord are summoners with lower armor than other bosses. King summons many tanky units, but champions are slow, and cavalries have very limited attacking options. Change tiles to prevent them attacking or keep them away from your civilians. Demon lord summons weak demonic units, you can simply kill them all. Keep some water tiles in your hand before engage.

Zombie and devil respawn after death. They are not very threatening, and the spawed units do not counterattack during the turn they appear. It's best to make all-out attack to minimize counterattacks. Devil will hide in the mountains beside the road, best to hit it with long range units.

Machine and orc have no special abilities. They both use a mountain-filled board along the road, like a canyon. Their spawns prefer mountains and easy to distract. Water/swamp tiles are good controlling their moves.
maybe I should do a more detailed guide, but too much work
Miscellaneous

Flying = prefer to any terrain. It means "attack from preferred" unit can attack from anywhere.
