In Loopmancer, new weapons (melee, gun, tactical) and skill chips are added to the loot pool when Zixu encounters a PUT machine and pays a certain number of e-coins--either all at once or partially over multiple loops. Once unlocked, the item can appear in Dave Ray's arsenal and Funk's shop, and can be collected from the same terminal in a future loop at no cost.

Whether for more combat effectiveness, achievements, or just fun, players may wish to track down a specific item. Some features of the PUT terminals are not immediately obvious:

• The terminals do NOT draw from a common pool of items. In fact, each specific terminal contains at most 2~4 possibilities only.

• Each sub-stage (named region on the map) will typically contain one PUT terminal. Although the platform layout has a few possible variations per loop, they are all easy to spot. In a small number of variations, there may be zero or two terminals in a sub-stage.

• Most items can only ever appear in a single sub-stage. (A handful of items appear in two or three).

• An entire mission location can be "re-rolled" by simply returning to the main menu and selecting "Continue". This can be done repeatedly to target a specific PUT terminal until the desired item appears.
