The event where you encounter a bookshelf is common in the game and can give you various buffs, but it can be tiring to memorize them all. So I created this guide to help based on my experiences playing. Although it's not extensive, I hope it can be helpful.

The books can provide permanent buffs to certain statuses, experience for the entire group, or experience loss for the whole group. Although I'm not sure, I believe the experience gained depends on the danger level of the space, and the experience lost depends on the character's level.

Other important things to know are that the buffs always go to the leader and a character can't get the same buff twice.

100 days of starvation - Supplies cost -6%
Aiming and anatomy - crit rate +1% and crit damage +2%
Being intellectual: 20 lectures - +1 Inteligence
Field's medic manual - +2% injury resistance
Global firearms - +2% accuracy
Ingenious guide - +1 Agility
Keeping fit - +1 Strength
Learning efficiency - +4% exp
Learning to dodge bullets - +2% dodge
Making a bomb in 3 days - +2% damage
Medieval fighting techniques - +2% block
Metal forging - +4% defense
Military Psychology - +2% morale
Shooting from a bunker - +2% fortitude
Special ops training - All stats +1
Surgery: learn with diagrams - +2% heal effect
The art of reloading - +2% speed
Weight training in 30 minutes - +1 Fitness
You can do it! - +1 Resolve

Note: if you "crit" while reading you will get the double of these buffs


There are also 3 books with positive effects that don't fit into the mentioned categories, which are:

Torn tresuare map- Wealth level +1
Precise local maps- Danger level -1
Revolutionary army brochure- Morale +40

Personally, I don't think it's worth spending time reading these books, because even though you gain experience, it takes 3 hours to do so, and there are better ways to gain experience in that time.
