Wider Horizontal FOV By Letterboxing
By Jinx
Like many other players, I find the poor field of view and very low camera a bit frustrating in this game. Unfortunately, the game has no in-game settings to improve this situation, nor was I able to find any tweakable settings in the game's configuration files.

I did, however, come up with something that helps a bit by expanding your view horizontally at least. It definitely feels better to play this way, as you don't feel like you are wearing blinders on either side of your face like in the default view.

In short, what we're going to do is letterbox the game. When you do this the game expands your field of view to the right and left. Unfortunately, as some others have discovered, the game does not support a full 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio; it only goes so far, and then gives you black bars on the right and left. So what I did was set the game up this way, screenshot it, then calculate the aspect ratio of the game window to figure out the maximum ultrawide aspect ratio supported. Then with a little math I figured out the custom resolutions we needed to get that wider view without the pillarboxing on the right/left.

If that's confusing, don't worry, you don't have to get it to follow these instructions!

What we're doing
Just a quick illustration of what we're doing so that you can decide if it's something you want. Essentially we are taking the game and letterboxing it to create a wider field of view. Compare these two screenshots:

As you can see, while we are giving up a bit of screen space to the black bars we are gaining a considerably wider view on the right/left - look at how you can now see all of the cafe table on the left. This can improve gameplay and is good if you were getting a little motion sick from the low field of view like I was.
Create A Custom Resolution in the Nvidia Control Panel
To do this trick we'll need to create a custom resolution in the Nvidia Control Panel. The game can't stretch to full 21:9 ultrawide, unfortunately, but I was able to calculate the best resolutions to use. They are:

3840x1763
2560x1175
1920x881

These resolutions are for 4K, 1440p, and 1080p screens respectively. If you go farther ultrawide you will get odd black bars on the right/left, too. So stick with these even though they seem oddball.

You can typically access the Nvidia Control Panel by right clicking on your desktop then selecting it from the pop up menu (in Windows 11 you must click Show More Options first).

Go to the Display section and pick "Change Resolution" at the top. Then click the "Customize..." box.

Now hit the checkbox by "Enable Resolutions Not Exposed By The Display" and click the "Create Custom Resolution" box.

Now type in the appropriate custom resolution from above and make sure to adjust the refresh rate to match your screen's if it's not already correct. You can leave everything else as it is. Then click "Test", then "Yes" to save the resolution.

Now when you open the game that custom resolution should be available to choose!

And now you can enjoy the game with a wider field of view!

If you run into issues with the screen stretching vertically, make sure you are on borderless windowed mode. Alternatively, back in the Nvidia Control Panel under the Adjust Desktop Size And Position section you can set aspect ratio scaling to prevent vertical stretching.

Hope this is helpful to some of you. Wish they'd just give us better in-game options, they need to get that on PC we need different considerations versus on a tiny phone screen!

I don't think so, Terra. I initially tried doing full 21:9 and it resulted in the black bars on the right/left. I took a screenshot and came up with the widest dimensions I could do without getting the black bars. Basically, I ran into the same problem you did. The game will stretch a bit wider than 16:9, but not all the way to 21:9.

I ultimately ended up refunding the game, even with this I was getting frustrated at how hard it was to see anything due to the low camera.

When you play on ultrawide, you get blackbar on the sides (instead of top/bottom for your method). Could your way be used to eliminate those you think?
