File 1: fully dug hole
Can be downloaded from here[drive.google.com].

Was made on February 23, 2025; (might become unusable in the future, idk)

Has all the dirt and rocks removed from the hole, all valuable rocks sold;

Useful for getting BOOOM! and Long Fall achievements;

Available resources: 104,142$, 1 lamp, 1 dynamite and 1 teleport, all upgrades bought;

Time spent digging: 7 hrs 18 min 14 sec;

Both keys have already been found and the crate opened.
File 2: speedrun hole
Can be downloaded from here[drive.google.com].

Was made on March 2, 2025; (might become unusable in the future, idk)

Time spent digging: 23 min 57 sec;

Useful for getting The Fastest achievement. The hole is dug more or less straight down, the chest is unopened, and there's 6 minutes of remaining time to descend and run past the moles.
File 3: two keys for the chest, good upgrades
Can be downloaded from here[drive.google.com].

Was made on February 23, 2025; (might become unusable in the future, idk)

Available resources: 2,381$, 3 lamps, 2 dynamites and 2 keys, best shovel and second-to-best everything else;

Time spent digging: 45 min 26 sec;

Useful for getting Old Crate and other achievements: you can dig around to get Stonemason, Wasted, Moneymaker and Rainbow. I AM SHOVEL! is unobtainable here because the shovel is already upgraded to the drill, I recommend getting I AM SHOVEL! on a fresh save.
What do I do with these files?
1. Close the game if you currently have it running.

2. Open the game's installation folder:
Either go to
your_steam_directory\steamapps\common\A Game About Digging A Hole\
manually,
or right-click the game in your Steam library and choose Properties... -> Installed Files -> Browse..., and that should open the game folder.

3. Navigate to DiggingGame\Saved\SaveGames.

4. The folder will have a file named MainSave.sav if you currently have an ongoing hole you're digging.
If you don't care about it, delete the file.
If you value it and want to return to it afterwards, rename MainSave.sav to something else, like MainSave_old.sav.

5. Download a savefile from this guide, move it into the folder and rename it into MainSave.sav.

6. Launch the game, click Continue and do whatever you were planning to do in there.

7. Afterwards, if you want to return to your old save, close the game, delete the current MainSave.sav and change your old savefile's name back to MainSave.sav.

Thanks hazehaunter for speedrun hole.
I just hate speedruns.

True. Very true. But those who truly wish to grow and improve wouldn't succumb to the temptation of this guide.
Some of us have better things to do, and procrastinate in this game instead; I know I did. So I hope I helped someone avoid wasting their time on a thing that holds no special meaning for them, and just move on.

You cheated not only the game, but yourself. You didn't grow. You didn't improve. You took a shortcut and gained nothing. You attained a hollow achievement. Nothing was risked and nothing was gained. It's sad that you don't know the difference.

For anyone having trouble getting the achievements to pop, make sure you've at least launched a new game when you unlock achievement mode. I hadn't and tried using these saves and wasn't popping anything, hit new game for achievement mode and popped a bunch retroactively

Every save is working, sometimes achievements can get buggy and not popping. Very useful! :8bitheart:

The trophy text updates at the moment you open the chest on a new attempt if you beat your previous best time, it's not relevant to your current ongoing run

Seems like just replacing your save file with the second save file will still display the "old" game time from your last save if you go look in the house, but I unlocked the achievement right as soon as I opened the chest, just made sure I was done ASAP. Maybe set a timer for 5 mins and if you haven't got to the chest, quit and retry? Also if you're having troubles with moles, walking seems to really help them not detect you.
