How to Run Liquidator 2 (Unexpected error has been detected)

Liquidator 2 may require additional configuration to work properly on modern systems. Follow this guide to get running this game on Steam.

Step 1: Configure Compatibility Settings
  • Navigate to the game installation folder:
    %SteamLibrary%\steamapps\common\Liquidator 2\Bin
  • Locate the file Liquidator2Launcher.exe.
  • Right-click on the file and select Properties.
  • Go to the Compatibility tab.
  • Check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
  • Check Run this program as an administrator.
  • Click Apply, then OK.
Step 2: Install dgVoodoo
  • Download latest stable version of dgVoodoo2 from the official website[dege.freeweb.hu].
  • Extract the downloaded archive to any temporary location.
  • Copy these Voodoo files to the game’s Bin directory (%SteamLibrary%\steamapps\common\Liquidator 2\Bin):
    • dgVoodooCpl.exe
    • All .dll files from MS\x86 folder

Step 3: Configure dgVoodoo
  • Open dgVoodooCpl.exe from the game’s Bin folder.
  • Under the General tab:
    • Set Config folder / Running instance to the game’s Bin directory.
  • Switch to the DirectX tab:
    • Set Videocard to GeForce 9800 GT.
    • Adjust resolution, anti-aliasing, and filtering as needed.
  • Click Apply, then close dgVoodoo.

Step 4: Launch the Game
Now, you can start Liquidator 2 through Steam as usual. If you encounter issues, try launching it directly via Liquidator2Launcher.exe in the Bin folder.
